First post, but not new to mongering. Stationed in SoCal and frequently do the AMP and Tijuana circuit. Went to Thailand for a month right as COVID was ramping up. Didn't monger much because of the fear of COVID and the streets were pretty empty, though hotel rooms were very cheap!

I'm putting together another month trip in March and have been looking for a city or two to spend 3 or 4 days in each in addition to going back to Thailand for a "rematch". Since I'm traveling from west coast USA I thought maybe go through Tokyo to split up the otherwise day+ plane trip. Other cities in the running are Jakarta or Phnom Penh but I've yet to research those.

In any case, I went back a ways in this thread (RTFT) to see what Tokyo has to offer. At first it was completely inscrutable, but the more I researched the more activities I found to fill my few days with. I might even stay longer. Who knows.

I'm into the more perverted side of mongering and have found quite a bit of places in Tokyo that cater to that. I'm thinking of staying in Kabukicho, maybe Hotel Appa Shinjuku or Premiere Cabin. So far I've found:

Just to clarify for others this is APA Hotel Shinjuku-Kabukicho Tower. The hottest of all the Tachinbo girls I saw around Okubo Park was standing right at the front doors of the hotel when I stayed there a few nights last Summer. I wasn't positive she was a hooker until it was too late. By the time I turned around after I walked right by her a Japanese man in his early 60's swooped in to talk to her and off they went away from APA towards Toho Cinemas. I have never seen her again and as recently as 2 weeks ago. As for the hotel you need a card key to enter through the glass doors to the elevator and again for the elevator to your room. The elevators are before reception so imo you'd easily get by hotel staff. There are at times a guy standing at the hotel entrance but unless the girl is a known person to the staff I don't see an issue. It's a busy hotel lobby at times. The downside is the rooms are very tiny and would be tight for 2 people to be there comfortably.

I'll be at the Prince Hotel Shinjuku. Will search for previous reports to see if they are friendly or not.

You might physically bypass the staff at reception, but these days they are probably monitoring the elevators with CCTV. Match that up with your keycard being recorded, there is no privacy any more.

About $75 on line, good Japanese breakfast. It's right next to Okubo Park and the sidewalks around Okubo Hospital. Front door is open with room key cards. I saw a Japanese guy take an obvious street girl with umbrella and water bottle in the elevator with me; reception did not even look up. Recently low cost airlines like JAL's Zipair have very low fares to cross the Pacific to Asia. I once booked Zipair RT LAX to Narita $424. From Tokyo many regional airlines fly to other cities in Asia very cheap.

Most times Zipair's fares are about $100 lower than parent JAL, no food but free wifi. Zip load factor has been consistently 75 to 85 % compared to JAL's 25 to 35 on same routes. They will have to figure out how to make the most profit.

Kabukicho has lots of good food and exciting entertainment 24/7. Dozens of cheap love hotels are within walking distances. Hotel Appa Shinjuku is at the center of everything, or try hotel Premiere Cabin right next to the infamous Okubo Park where some extremely attractive young girls hang out.

I usually stay 2 nights in Shinjuku before flying on to Asia, also a night or more on the way back to make sure no problems with connecting flights.

For quick lay over, consider Thermae Yu (local name Shinjuku Spa La), a large hot bath / sauna about 5 minutes walk East of Okubo Park, open 24/7, 4 stories of baths, spa, sauna, massages, bars, food. It costs 3600 why or $24 for 12 hours, add 2000 why or $14 if stay all night past midnight. It's very nice in cold winter.

In general, if they are trying to hand stuff out to you in Akihabara, Ikebukuro, Kabukicho, etc they are nothing more than that. Just trying to get you in to the maid cafe, karaoke bar, club, restaurant, etc they work for. If they are just standing around in Kabukicho Okubo Park, Ikebukuro etc looking like hookers, then they're hookers.

There aren't as many as there was a while back. Huge crack down over the course of about 7 months. That said, there are still girls to be found around okubo park.
