Japan opens up with no visas starting October 11 but you can get a day visa.

While it may be "easy" to get gaigin entry into soaplands, your chances might be higher if you go alone. Past intel suggests two or more together are more likely to be a red flag to the management. Gaigin service is often subject to a willing girl being available at the time, and it is usually the lesser quality girls that are willing (older, less attractive types).

And there is the warning never to go with a tout who offers to take you to a place somewhere else.

I was stop by Tokyo for couple of days and I did some internet research where can I get good massage from a Japanese girl. Never used AM but it has a great reputation. Definitely a great bet. I've used THC all pre pandemic and the girls are amazing. Maybe it's changed but Shinjuku is guaranteed full Japanese girls. Whereas Shibuya allows mixed race — which I actually prefer.

It's been several years since I've been to the Tokyo soaplands, but from memory here are some ideas. I usually had luck there, despite speaking only a few words of Japanese, as I was dressed in a suit and was willing to walk around and see which doormen encouraged gaijin to enter, and those that did not. The area is the "yoshiwara" (red light district), and if I recall correctly is near the Minowa metro stop. Google it and you can find exact directions, it's about a 10-minute walk from the station. Of course, everywhere in Tokyo is completely safe for gaijin any time of day or night.

Once you find the area, it is several blocks with dozens of the shops. It's easy to just walk by and make eye contact with the doorman, some will even call you over if business is slow. But you can forget about trying to decide based on the talent. The girls are not visible, and the photos they show you (once you are invited in to sit down in the waiting room) are either completely or mostly inaccurate. And it's expensive, on the order of $500 for an hour or 90 minutes with the full soapie experience. Perhaps a bit cheaper now with the weak yen.

I probably punted here eight times over the years, and don't recall ever getting shut out completely. Many or most shops would say "no gaijin", but there were always a few that would welcome a whitey. I would say, though, that of those eight tries, only one or two of the girls were reasonably attractive. Most were not at all, even if their service and attitude was good (which it usually was). Some were downright ugly despite the photos you were shown. And they're not the kind of places where you want to kick up a fuss if the lady is not to your liking.
