I've never had nanpa opportunities in Japan, but I'll make the leap to assume it's mostly a solo pick-up game. However, if J-girls travel overseas in packs (and they do), then you'll need find some friends to keep that 1:1 ratio. About the necessity of nampa ... I largely agree about the purpose and intent of the board. However, in Japan especially, its good to know about nampa, because:a) Unlike most other countries, you DO have a great chance at picking up freebies. And the nampa intent is acknowledged and loosely respected among the women that go to places be nampa'd.
