This is very true about the Raddison. There has been a recent issue with Non-Kazakh men leaving with local girls being harassed and in the past even attacked by local men that do not like the fact that Expats are $$ handsome.

You mean the Chocolat at the Radisson in Astana? I disagree with it, but then again it and Barkhat (when it was going) are upscale places in a mainly administrative town. So unless you bring local connections with you, then you can expect to get your butt kicked in most places.

Seriously, P4P in Kazakhstan is best ordered to your hotel / flat. If you go out with a local girl to a local place then there are no problems as she will just tell them to "foxtrot oscar".

In general, please be considerate about the simple fact that almost all of central asia, excluding almaty, is a wild west place hence have your back covered and get ready to take off if things go wrong. The assumption of it being "modern" will make you open to a serious reminder one day.

A highly experienced, upscale working girl whom I trust recommended that I stay in the Hotel Salen, near "Stenka Lenina" (where ever that is). She said it is the most stable girl friendly hotel in Almaty, not too expensive but not too cheap and a convenient place to stay. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to check it out myself, so I do not know how reliable this info is. I tried finding it online, but could only find Hotel Salem. Perhaps there was some misunderstanding and that is the one. Sorry not to have more reliable info. I once stayed in the hotel Kazakhstan and had lots of trouble when trying to bring in my own girls, and lots of trouble when trying to use the doormen's girls (they would take ages to come, and would be overpriced).

Allow me to elaborate. I have never had problems at Interconti, Holidayin, Rahat Palace, Saltanat, etc. So can only say that Hotel Kazakhstan is the dive in that respect as well!
