Since the setting up of the Police's "Department for Combating Human Trfficking and Crimes Against Public Morality" in 2013, the situation has deteriorated. It's not the first time in the world that the police claim to be enforcing laws against pimping while working hand in glove with pimps to make life hard for the girls. In this atmosphere of fear the high-quality WGs cannot survive. Only weeds are left in the garden. This explains the dire lineups I saw during my trip. For one thing, no Russian devushki -- fled to greener pastures.

The saunas are the saddest part. The addresses are hard to find and if you show up alone you may be turned away. You're supposed to use a taxi driver. Now if you ask a taxi driver for a recommendation, the first thing he will suggest is a ripoff place in the center. He will get a huge commission, maybe the equivalent of a whole day of driving. But your day will end up ruined.

I did enough research to avoid traps like Viking Sauna. Instead I went to an unknown place called Niagara. Guess what, I still got ripped off. 3000 down and no sex. I did a bit better at the sauna behind Dostuk, largely because I refused to pay in advance. (Important point: never pay in advance no matter how much pressure they put you under.) But it was still a pretty mediocre experience.

The girls are not on-site. They are driven around in cars from place to place. So they are not accountable to particular saunas, but only to the faceless pimps driving the cars -- who will doubtless urge them to rip off tourists as much as possible. A lot of this crackdown was due to jealousy against foreign guys in the first place.

For every girl on the street there are about twenty uniformed guys on the streets: a massive show of force in the effort to change a formerly liberal culture.

As for Bishkek's once thriving nightlife, kilogallons of antiseptic have been sloshed over it. Every time I went to a place, it was like the Hand of Death had discovered my intentions and visited before me. Mansion: shut down. Golden Bull: shut down. Promzona: only the rich uptight crowd in evidence -- devoid of the social lubricant of working girls on a Saturday night.

Sokuluk, fifteen miles out, is a muddy armpit of a place with hopeless lineups. Not recommended.

For the sake of completeness, I also mined VK, the equivalent of Facebook over here. The only person in Bishkek who would friend me turned out to be a ladyboy. Not impressed, not surprised. Dating sites suck everywhere. Tinder was also useless.

From the sex perspective it is like a neutron bomb has been exploded in the city. Some of the clubs have the same names as they did five or ten years ago but they are totally different. As soon as a club starts to attract ladies of easy virtue, it gets "closed for renovations," and only reopened when it is "cleaned up".

I know it helps a lot if you speak Russian. If anybody here makes a positive report, it is probably because they know Russian. But there are two other great international languages that were bridging the cultural gap: (1) sex, and (2) money. If a city is suppressing sex, it is isolating itself from the world and it should not expect to get much money either.

In summary this city does NOT deserve your tourist dollars after what it has done to its more free-spirited women.

Just a delayed report as I was in Bishkek end of last November. First of all 99% of vibish website is fake. This is the way it works: the pimps / mamasans put photos of beautiful women on this website. The photos are fake taken from lingerie websites such as aliexpress, instagram models, etc. Just right click on the photo and upload it to google and you'll most likely find the source. Know that the girls will almost never put their own photos to be recognised.

I've been to a few houses and I must say that the girls there were 2's and 3's. I mentioned beforehand that if the girls are not the ones in the photo I will leave, which I did. But it was a waste of time. Also, don't do it without any knowledge of Russian. Nobody speaks English except for some mamasans. I did manage to find a couple for a threesome and the service was good. Paid for both (one hour) about 100 USD, can't remember the exact conversion. It was a blonde Russian which used a translator to speak to me in English (online and after) and a Kazakh girl (which is what she said but I doubt it). I never felt unsafe in Bishkek but of course lots of wasted time with fake photos, even via whatsapp. But it's part of the business I guess.
