Is Laos better to avoid for mongering?

Heh. Got it. No problem, since I have been looking at several 3 star hotels for the stay and they have good reviews. They are all mostly on the riverside, which seems ideal.

Most of the hotels along the "riverside" are good. I said "riverside" in inverted commas because for much of the year the mighty Mekong is a mere trickle that you can hardly see flowing in the distance against the Thailand bank. The river views are actually vast sand / soil plains over which locals tend to stroll and play ball etc. When the rainy season kicks in and the Mekong is flooding in all of its majesty then the views are magnificent. These hotels are near to Bor Pen Yang, a rooftop, open bar (it has a roof) where you can expect to find a range of potential companions, some very hard-core, some LBs and some FLs who range across the spectrum of experience.

Just be wary that the hotels with low prices and pretty pics on the websites are not disguising the fact that they are "backpacker" type places because there are lots and lots of them around Vientiane now.

When I was there in May the streets were crowded with backpackers (literally). No offence meant to BPs and they didn't affect me or my stay in ANY way at all but just alerting you to the fact that it might be better to pay a little extra to ensure you have a good room.

After over 40 trips to Thailand I wanted to see something different so I'm planning a trip to Vientiane. As usual when I visit somewhere new there's a lot of great info in here and I'm looking forward to the adventure of seeing somewhere new and figuring it all out. And of course to the girls. After reviewing the forum, I wanted to ask for updated information on some recommended hotels to book in Vietnane, since it seems it is not possible to find the hotel policy about no guests allowed in any of the hotels that I located though various hotel booking sites for this. So I am asking for some recommendations so I can book in advance in October for it.

If you read #270 you would have seen my line that states.

I am reluctant to identify the 4 star hotel that I stayed in on the public forum but I will pm you if you can indicate what rate you want to pay. My hotel was expensive and I wouldn't have used it if my employer had not been picking up the bill.

I am working on traveling there, but I would like to find some recommended hotels to book for nearly a week there, plus to enjoy some mongering in the area. What would be some recommended hotels that have wi-fi and internet access included in their room service? Any suggestions and information would be helpful, since you won't find the information on the hotel that do not allow ladies on their hotel pages when looking to book. .

The faster way is La Ong Dao hotel 1 which I am staying right now, it's on back of hotel kind of a car park, start at 7pm till 2am, about 20 very young girls to choose, I had 3 of them, first two I would give 5-6/10, not much service but good attitude, but tonight's girl, she is absolutely 9/10, kissing, BBBJ and muti position, for sure I will repeat her again, price 1000B without any negotiation. If you are going to use their st room, maybe add 100-200B, Pattaya maybe little cheaper but you would never find any 18 years with good attitude and sweet smile on their face. But only one thing have to remind you they've absolutely zero English skill, if you can speak Thai there will be no problem, I have to use translation app. On my iPhone to talk to them.

Officially it is illegal, and some hotels still display the sign saying "no outside guests of opposite sex allowed in rooms unless proof of marriage".

However, I am informed by the girls in Bor Pen Yang that most places allow them inside nowadays with no hassles, and I found that to be correct.

There are opportunities outside of Vientiane but I have only ever mongered in the capital. I stand out too much in the provinces, and I also have minders in my work. I suggest you read through the thread to glean them out.

Some clubs are mentioned here on ISG if you are game, but they are hit and miss. Don Chan Palace by the Mekong has lots of opportunities but usually after midnight and only on some nights.

I had one success with a massage place that was legit massage but during the massage after some small talk and some good vibes I asked the girl if she did hotel visits and she whispered OK she would visit me if I liked. She passed me her number and I met her around 10 pm for two hours of fun on her way home.

Make sure that your hotel allows guests after 10 pm.

PS. Don't ask me for numbers or contacts. I left my SIM card with a mate in Vientiane and don't have them any more.

It is a great story Hotman and it was fun to read. A classic case of good things happening unexpectedly because you took it slowly and didn't push it hard.

However, I would just like to add that these sort of experiences are NOT THE NORM in places like Laos. I have been working in Laos 4 times in the past 5 years and it is not a vibrant mongering place, BUT, there are experiences to be had and many girls around who are very keen to go with a foreigner.

I have had many nights at Bor Pen Yang for example where I just had a few beers and went home alone. But I have had some unexpected fun too (see another post here).

All of my best and most memorable experiences have happened when I least expected it or never planned (just like Hotman's experience. It just happened unexpectedly for him too).

Just go out for the evening and be prepared to take advantage of a proposition when it suddenly appears out of the blue. If it doesn't happen, just go home and wait for another night. It was easy for me because I was there for 24 days each time so it was not urgent.

Just be careful of the ladyboys on the motor bikes who will ride up beside you when you are walking around.

This was my FIRST experience in Laos which I posted in 2009.

The hotel I used was one of the central hotels with its own night club.

Upon check in I went to my room and found 3 chambermaids, who had obviously finished work for the day, sitting drinking beer in a small seating area just outside the lift.

2 of the maids were late 30's but the other one was VERY early 20's, a little bit chubby but rather cute.

One of the 2 older maids invited me to sit and drink a beer with them, which I did. None of them spoke much English but with my very limited Thai and a few words of English plus some universal gestures we were soon "chatting away."

After a minute or two she shook her head and pointed to the bathroom so I assumed that my few minutes of fun were up and let her and the towel go into my bathroom.

Then, to my great surprise, she proceeded to lock the bathroom door behind her and after a few minutes I heard the sound of running water.

I decided to continue my rest on the bed and see what happened. After a further few minutes the young maid came out of the bathroom, wearing nothing but the extra towel that she had brought with her, and shyly came and sat on the bed next to me! The next hour or so was absolutely GREAT!

I see the same two Lao guys sitting at a table drinking whisky and on the table was what I believe to be a 45 caliber handgun. They saw me walk by and just starred at me, I smiled and they didn't smile back.

Are this kind of scams / robbery common in Laos? The possibility of being pointed by a 45 caliber gun can kill of the pleasure of mongering (at least for me).

I'm hesitating between Burma and Laos for going for a trip, sightseeing and mongering. Does somebody have any experience in those 2 countries?

Is the conclusion from Amjeck experience that Laos is better to avoid for mongering?

I know that for mongering Thailand is better but I'the like to combine stopover in Bangkok with some new experience. However not with 45 caliber experience.

I was in BPY on last Friday night but didn't see anyone who might have been you.

I propped myself at the bar and drank too many red wines (surprisingly good for a house red) and chatted to a "woman" sitting beside me.
