i know the residents cannot bring any (not a single one) duty free cigarette or even just bought elsewhere.

that is not true. the only requirement is that residents have to spend 24 hours outside. then they can carry the same as tourists (in case of cigarettes 19 pieces) .

if you are caught with more, the penalty is 2000 hk$ plus 5 times the duty.

You've got more will power than I do since all I've done in monger and and almost nothing else.

It's just my liking. When I'm the first time in some place, I want to get to know it and see its attractions. Secondly, I'm not into Chinese girls, but I guess others are available as well, right? I mean all these colourful glitzy jewellry shops around Hotel Lisboa. Maybe I'm wrong and they are normal jewellry shops, but since they offer second hand items as well, I thought they are pawn shops for the money seeking gambler.

I wonder what card service you have. I had just activated my Chase visa and was using in Chicago when it was declined so I called chase and they had some charges from HK. I stopped the card immediately and chase reimbursed all the fraudulent charges.

So it does not have to be Macau, Credit Card Frauds are everywhere and I am suspicious that there are some insiders in the banks themselves.

I can't remember what bank it was, but they are the ones that discovered it, and I was not liable for any of the fraud. That was a few years ago. For some reason I was under the impression that places like Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand were the only places that needed to be worried about. I was wrong.

At check up the tearing of the slip. A month later I was checking into a hotel in Long Beach, CA. They declined my credit card as it had been cancelled. I find out that $2500US was charged on it at a bunch of stores in Hong Kong. I emailed the Emperor Hotel and told them of the fraud, this was the only place I had used my credit card in Asia. A few emails went back and forth before it died out. I'll never use my credit card in such a way again whilst in Macau.

I paid at the ferry terminal in HK, they got an authorization for around 500- HKD on my card when I checked in. When I checked out, there was nothing to pay, but I now see I didn't get back the charge slip (I saw them 'tear it in half. ') Now I cannot _prove_ that is was the Waldo Hotel that was the source of the leak of my card, but I have my suspicions, especially at this time of year. Be warned.
