Price wise the food and living expenses are not very expensive although Thailand and Philippines are probably cheaper to live in they are also less structured.

Unless this is your business trip, I will not go to kl for just mongering, there much better options available.
Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia should be tour to go places.
Malaysia is expensive, not very mongering friendly. You will screwing mostly foreigners such as Vietnamese, Thai, or Philippines.
List claim, Malaysia does not hold a candle to these countries I mentioned above.

In my experience in Kl I feel safe at night anywhere, I have a choice of good restaurants and I find it is not hard to pick up a quality girl who is not a hardened pro. Yes I am biased towards Viets but Viets in Vietnam do pose problems.

But that's just my opinion and that's all it is. An opinion. What works for me may not work for you.

My suggestion is try different places and find your best fit.

Thanks BP and Sydpat for your response have decided to stay at Hilton Kl.

I don't think there are any issues, with hotel, I love Berjaya hotel, if you can afford it then go to their website directly and book premier rooms, not available through discount website. There they treat you and your guest like a important person even check in is at level 24 and restaurant is different. Worth extra money you will spend with them.
