Went to Bayview. Lobby air thick with stinking smoke. Went to Karven/Karmen whatever its called. Same.

Tried the bistro pubs opposite Cititel. Also full of smokers and smoke.

Went to E&O where civil behavior was restored in a clean atmosphere.

Wake up Penang. Your a long way behind the rest of the world in terms of providing clean air to non smokers.

Mind, as your government is soo weak to take on taxi drivers and their non use of meters I guess they are equally weak to address this issue.

It's a bit unfair to blame Penang for the smoky environment, to be precise, it's a nationwide incident, no thanks to the present government. You see, the goverment is into serius acting, on one hand they put up "Tak Nak" advertisement while increasing the tax to discourage people from smoking, on the other hand cheaper legal cigarettes are produced.

They even copied the move by Singapore government in printing the cancer pictures on the cigarettes packing and at the same time cigarettes container has been widely sold in most shops.

Being a non-smoker myself I do understand your concern, it's certainly felt like being in a chinese temple with the chopstick burning immensely. Adding to that the most pissed off point is to kiss a WL who is a heavy smoker, the taste is like shit and you just hope to get the deal done ASAP
