With so many other groups doing gatherings of all sorts from rave, psychedelics, electronic dance music festivals and what not I fear our group of cheongsters are being left behind. Maybe we prefer to do so, because this life requires more stealth and cunning than other more open areas.

Curiousity got the better of me, and I wanted to or rather needed to check this place out! So this morning I swung by the place on my way down to town. The place is along the side of a dead end street, ie a no thru road.

As I walked in, there were about 8 to 10 bakso sitting on the left, all looks young, some fair skinned and some dark. They were mainly playing with their handphones. And as you walk further in, there is another side entrance within the same premises, on the right handside after the counter, which leads you into a bigger hall, which was dimly lit, for whatever reasons, I can't fathom. On one side of the hall is sofas where a number of gals were seated, some bakso, and some locals I think, I can't tell for sure as it was too dimly lit up...

I find Chulia street an interesting place especially with flocking of foreigners and backpackers. The street is so diverse!

Hope you get lucky in '12 July Mona Lisa cafe'.

I like going to upper penang road apart from the clubs, chulia included, for a good time with friends. Many happy memories talking to backpackers, tourist couples, cute tourist even fun locals enjoying the night. Hopefully the WL of chulia does not walk around and do their business in "selected" places in this areas. Like to see the place become more friendlier to locals and tourist (like daytime) instead of becoming creepy "horror movie" mood after midnight. Its an interesting mix of pubs, bars, restaurant and hotels for everyone to enjoy. Wish to find a one night stand "12 July Mona Lisa cafe " sometimes there is interesting thing to discover (but not always).
