RE: MP Raids

Papers report that police just raided eight MPs in Thamel – arresting seventeen girls and ten clients. The only details about the clients mentioned is that one was Indian, leading me to believe most were locals. It’s hard to imagine that there would be that many mongers spread out over even eight MPs to create those numbers. The Kathmandu Post details that there are 60 MPs “in almost every alternate building in Thamel” and that a local NGO believes that services are on offer in seventy-five percent of these. I haven’t been around Thamel for a few weeks and so don’t know the whole skinny, but, IMHO, it sounds that these MPs that got raided are the ones that cater to local clientele – in my surveys of the area I counted less than 20 MPs in the area. These are the ones with signs in English that are accessible to mongers and mostly put themselves up therapy for sore trekkers but will offer HJs and maybe full menu after a few visits. So, I don’t believe that the paltry mongering opportunities will be impacted all that much. In the past I’ve always said that Nepal’s not a place for easy mongering and it looks like this assessment continues to ring true.

Had to take care of visa stuff so I found myself near Thamel after a bit of an absense. Went for a visit to one of my old standbys that is mentioned in the archieves - the place directly across from Pilgram's Book Store's entrance, through an entry that doubles as an art gallery, on the thrid floor. They've got a new crop of girls in, mostly in the last month or two, and some are pretty cute. The downside is that they're no longer offering FS or, at least, are being extreemly down-low about it as I'm a known entity to them. Expect high quoted prices but tell them that you've paid only Rs. 500 for a 1 hr. in the past. HJs are running Rs. 500 and they are pretty open about the payment - no longer on the down-low to the girl now paid to the papasan. Sorry to say that I still haven't gotten around to doing an assesment of the broader Thamel scene. Maybe once the daily political agitations slow down.

RE: Godavari Resort. The place is way to upscale for me to even venture a comment. While a beautiful location, there's only this one place there and is about an hour to K-du, hour and a half to anywhere in K-du. On the upside, Godavari is a day-trip destination for the more well-to-do class and you'll have the opportunity to meet lots of college girls in the botanical gardens if your timing is right. You'll just have to work some magic with them - which in Nepal means very slow and steady and lots of luck to find the one who is interested in more than 'friendship.' The resort itself will see more expats and well-off couples for weekend getaway packages and BBQs. So, not alot of hope there.

I've heard that the heavily starred hotels and resorts that some of the employees will have contacts for the upscale (read: college girl or film actress) SPs. Think carefully about who you approach, though, as some employees may be offended by your asking. Otherwise, it's the Thamel MP scene which, in your case, is a bit of travel to get to.

I will be visiting Nepal later this month and would like to get an update if anyone has information. I will be staying at the Godavari Resort outside Kathmandu but know nothing about it.

Can anyone give me advice on where I need to go for some action? Does anyone know the resort and is there anything doing there? If I need to go into the city where should I go.

I hope that some one can help and I promise a good report on my return.

why the maoists would've targeted these places is a good question - mainly because these were more out of the way places without a very public profile. this leads me to think that the targeting was done for two possible reasons: either the places were known for being frequented by upper-middle to upper level government types (including police and army personnel) and/or the places failed to pay their 'protection' money. the other possible explaination - that the maoist affiliated nepal women's organization stepped up one of their periodic campaigns (the other being for liquor prohibition) - doesn't seem to fit too well. if this were the case the mps with a higher public profile would've been targeted.

of course these are just my best guesses. i haven't been to thamel in the last month or so since the 5-party political agitations started. while the agitations don't spill over into the thamel area, they do cut me off from the commute from where i live. for mongers (or tourists for that matter) visiting, the agitations don't really matter too much as long as one basis himself in the thamel ghetto. some of the more upscale hotels are nearby the palace and the ratna park area (famous for sws in the evening) and could lead to some mobility trouble.

of interest are a few editorials in the local english language papers about the sex trade. started with a call for legalization and control of sex work - a la singapore. this was quickly followed by an editorial by a fairly prominant journalist who was all in favor of the move as the women engaged in sex work were better off - i.e. more highly paid for less work. imho, this is a fairly classic nepali response to a very nepali centered contextualization of sex work that doesn't consider that sex work is really a profession of last resort that's a result of poverty, traficing, and/or [CodeWord123]. in my experience the sex work that foreing mongers experience doesn't too often fall into this context - the women are mostly there by choice. but if this idea is taken to conclusion, don't expect nepal to become another singapore or thailand. at best, there will evolve some upscale escort and mp services but it still won't be a mecca like se asia.

on a happy note, i'm heading back to bkk in about a month for a few weeks of r&r.

Thamel, your knowledge of Kathmandu is impressive, but what do you make of the fact that the Maoists apparently directly targeted this place?

Papers reported a bomb blast at a Thamel MP yesterday. Evidently, Maoists rushed in to the MP office (which was located in a room of the hotel) ordered the staff to leave the building, and then set off the bomb. There wasn’t any mention of customers at the MP at time. The incident occurred at 7:20pm, which is after or very close to the usual MP closing time. I’m not sure if I’ve seen this particular MP before – located in the Classic Downtown guesthouse – but there’s so many small places I see a new one every time I head down a different street.

Assessment for mongers. First, I wouldn’t sweat it too much. Maoist incidents are few and far between in the Thamel section – though it has happened and will happen again in the future, incidents have usually been early evening, just when it gets dark. Second, most of the more accommodating and customer-friendly MPs are on the upper floors of guest houses. This allows for two important safety considerations (both legal and physical): private rooms are available and parties must go through the guesthouse lobby to reach the MP. The MPs I’ve frequented in the past had a bell system rigged up so that the hotel staff can alert the MP of approaching customers or police. For those skiddesh, safety-minded mongers, this would seem a more conducive type of MP to search-out. The private room should run about Rs. 250 (about $3.50) for the session and will be more conducive to SP negotiations and will be cleaner compared to the typical foam matt on the common room floor.

I’ve been getting the itch lately and planning to inventory some good MPs – especially on the south side of Thamel. This past week’s ‘bundhs” (general strikes) have kept me home-bound and today is the festival of Holi – so there’s gangs of kids with water balloons just waiting to pelt passer-bys – especially us foreigners – so it’ll be a few days until I get around to it.

This is my first post to the forum, funny it's about such an off-the-wall place like Nepal. Agree with fellow mongers that Nepal is not a primo destination, but action there came as a surprise. Went to one MP in Thamel across the street from Scenic Adventures and a pharmacy, up on the 1st floor. Kind of dirty, and I just wanted a massage to get the kinks out of my legs after a long trek.

Lots of Nepali girls and one smoking pimp hanging out talking loudly on the other side of the hanging sheet while the massage girl, a 3 at best, worked away. Lousy massage too. I was thinking I overpaid at $10 for 2 hours. Near the end, she grabs my cock and tries to give me an HJ, asking for a $10 tip. I say no way. Then she says, "you want fucking?" I say, "with you, no," and try to communicate that I might be willing with a pretty attractive 7 that was hanging out when I walked in.

I guess the message got through because the pimp walks in and sort of Nepali-Englishes me the idea of who it will be, but is asking for about $30. I honestly only had about $5 on me, and that's what I ended up paying on top of the $10 for the massage (which sucked).

The whole act was hurried and the mat on the floor was kind of dirty. The girl was probably about 19-20 and very slender with nice small tits. She did not remove all of her clothes, but instead just pulled off her pants and pulled up her Nepali dress for the action. She was nice and wet when I jumped in, and I gave her a good hard pounding.

A week or so later, after a trip to the wilderness, I was back in KTM and horny again, but I didn't want to do anything in the dirty massage parlor, so I figured I'd go back and work a price to have a girl come to my hotel room. That had it's plusses and minuses.

The girl from the last visit was there, but the pimp told me that she was engaged to be married now and I couldn't have her. The desk staff looked at me disapprovingly for the remainder of my stay, but the doorman was cool after I gave him a $2 tip.

The second chick was a typical Nepali and she smelled really bad, but not down there fellas. I made her take a shower in my room. Fellow mongers may identify with the fact that chicks from these places don't like the shower really hot. Anybody else ever noticed that?

The deal was supposed to include a massage, and this girl had at it, but her heart wasn't in it. At least I didn't feel hurried doing it in my room, and we could play around a little more. After I finished, she puts on her clothes and tells me she wants to leave. It was only an hour or so in, but it was just as well since I wanted to get rid of her. I had to escort her into the taxi to keep hotel security from taking her away. Not the best experience, but a fuck is a fuck.

I'm also back in-country after a six month break - could be here either six months or a year and a half this time around. Previous stint was three years but all of that in a village and a distant district center. Only every couple of months would I get into K-du or Pokhara and that's how I got the impression that getting action is about the same as finding beef - all in the tourist areas or upscale joints. I did establish a friendly relationship with a woman who owned a MP in Thamel and this particular one was exclusive for middle - upper-middle class Nepalis. She was part owner of Mt. Trekking as well and after I had finished some action there she was asking my SP what was up with the kuire. Good thing I had the language down as that opened the doors for me a bit.

Last time around - this past summer - got a thing going with an INGO receptionist. She was divorced and from a high brahmin caste so you can imagine that the relationship was both on the down-low and not too sexually satisfying. With the upper-castes, oral is considered a pretty big sin. It ended when she wanted me to marry her - she wanted to be a typical Nepali wife and take care of my parents!

This stint I'm centered in Lalitpur - the heart of INGO country and the upscale fashion district. I'm hoping that I will not have to go back to the MPs or get into another super-secret liason.

good to see that you are still about too. I have not been back to Nepal for about six months (lived there for about ten years). I still work and play in Asia, and get back to K'du once or twice a year. It took me about two years living in country to tap into the monger scene, but was evetually able to find a lot of networks that offered services. I think that the language ability helps a lot. I have lost touch with the inside scene, but still know people there that are in with it. We used to have a girl who worked as a dancer in one of the sleaze joints you mention, and she would hook us up with girls she knew (fellow dancers for the most part, but some general free lancers looking for spare cash too) in her apartment. A bit more pricey than MPs, but more relaxed and sometimes you could find a real looker. One time a rather buxom gal claimed to be a popular dancer from Nepali films. She had the looks, and big tits for a Nepali, but I could never confirm her alleged fame. Didn't really care that much actually.

The far west of Nepal was really much more open than Kathmandu. Nepal Gunj had a district populated by the Badiya, but they have moved on to a village near Mahendranagar (the Badiya are a tribe of entertainers in which the women work as prostitutes and the men lounge about and do little to nothing).

And there was a food stall north of Pokhara on the road to Baglun that I stopped in once to find that an elderly Gurung couple ran it while their three daughters rather openly entertained men in the back room. Economics I suppose.

One of the oddest encouters I had was during a visit to the police station for official reasons when I happened by the holding cells. Out looked a familiar face, followed by excited chatter and more heads. The cops had run a raid and herded a bunch of the girls from MPs in for the day (they do this a few times a year) and the girls had recognized me. They couldn't contain their surprise at seeing me walking around the place, and I almost shat myself thinking they would start calling out to me.

I guess my point is, that after many years in South Asia it strikes me that a lot of paid for sex is available, and a lot that is free too, but it just is not as easy or obvious as in many other places, such as Thailand. I have had girls in MPs absolutely offended when I tried to shed their panties, and had secretaries in NGOs come visit me wanting anonymous sex. One girl who was about to go to university in the US asked me to have sex with her so she would not go abroad a virgin (absolute truth). I still love Nepali women more than any other country I have visited. I think they can be the most beautiful of any of the Asian countries I have seen. But it does take time to get to know them, and a bit of luck too.

The Hyatt is pretty upscale and in a fairly remote location considering action - near Boudha. As far as guests are concerned, I'd expect little trouble as it's not like a scene in LOS where all the staff would know what's going down. Besides, that lobby is so cavernous I'm sure that you could sneak many guests through without any notice.

Not many folks in Nepal have telephones, much less cell phones so getting a contact number for a SP is unlikely. At a place like the Hyatt, Yak & Yetti, Soaltee, etc. I'd wonder about asking a bellboy to set you up. Word on the street is that these places can tap into an informal network of more up-market SPs - models, actresses, etc. That's the rumor anyhow but I'd expect something could be arranged. Now, the Rocks Bar at the Hyatt is where many of the country's elite go to party and I'd expect you may be able to find something there. Based on one experience I had in such a place, it'd be a good idea to make sure that none of the Royal family is there - I once had a date describe how she'd been hit on by the husband of the former princess and when he found out she was Nepali (thought she was Indian) he warned her off as there 'could be trouble for her.' Just ask a bartender and if there is a royal presence, steer clear of any woman around his entourage.

One experience leads me to believe there might be a brothel in the area around Hyatt. Years ago, we asked a cabbie to take us to a place where we could find women, and he dropped us at this bar on the way to Hyatt. Now these dance bars are on the skids and many shut down these days - not that they were anything more than a ripp-off - but at this one we noticed a few women in the back room. At the time, didn't have the language skills and nothing came of it.

Like I said, your best bet would be to ask a hotel employee to try and set something up or see what's happening in the hotel bar. Otherwise, it's a Thamel MP or trolling for SWs near the Bir Hospital opposite Ratna Park - but you wouldn't want to take any of these ladies to your hotel.
