A few words that are understood in any parlour that you can add to lanc-a-lot's advice, what I call Nepenglish:

"enjoy garnay" - garnus is Nepali for "to do"
"time pass" - something you'll hear in even the remotest villages

Just know that Nepalis who speak fluent English will curse like a sailor, but if you say even the most innocuous curse in Nepali they'll get offended. So, act accordingly and edit the vocab list I left earlier.

Regarding Westernized women in K-du, tread lightly. It's hard to tell who'll hold a lot of stock in the caste system and Hindu ideology - some of the most modern looking might consider any liason with a foreigner (or anyone before marriage) to be a polluting experience. A general rule of thumb is if you can get the girl on a "date" you won't have to worry too much about trying to move things further. My advice is to try the more "asian" looking girls - Tibetan, Gurung, Sherpa, Tamang, etc. - as they'll likely be of the Buddhist persuasion and perhaps more open to having an affair.

I'll probably be heading to K-du in mid-May for the summer - with a couple of weeks stopover in Bangkok on the way. Keep me posted about your travel plans - maybe I can act as your "afno manche" and introduce you to a couple of establishments.

I think you will do fine if you stick to the parlours, but there is always a chance to meet some of the upper class girls who are not pros, but who do hang out in some of the drinking places in Thamel. Go to the places that play music and offer dance opportunities for guests. They come and go, and I don't know what is open now in Thamel. These girls will speak English and might be open to company. Don't get your expectations too high, but I have been lucky in the past.

Regarding the parlours, they are exclusively in the Thamel area. Ones that you see elsewhere will not take kindly to more purient activities. Don't feel shy about going into all the places you see in Thamel and taking a look around. Wait until you see a girl who rocks you, then ask for a massage with her. In the room alone with the girl you indicate your desire (bring your own rubbers). If she does not speak Enlgish, make the American sign for OK, and stick your finger through the hole while imploring her with your eyes. As a massage girl, you will not shock her, the worst will be that she says she does not do this or cannot because the manager will catch her. If you are persistent you will probably achieve your objective.

All Nepali girls in India are working as slaves, they see nothing of the money you pay. All goes to the boss. The HIV-rate among them is nerly 90%. In Nepal most girls work for their own, and get a fixed percentage of the money the customer pays, or if she doesn´t work in a massage parlour keeps all. They are not stupid and know what they can get, but paying more than 1500 in a massage parlour is stupid.

I`ve been to Kathmandu in September 2002 coming back from a trekking tour in the Himalayas and decided to do some research on the ladies.

First some basics:

Good place to stay in Thamel: Kathmandu Guest House (2,50$ -25$ per night. If you bring a guest just register her and pay double room charge)

You can get very good food from pizza to steaks or any asian variety in Kathmandu for a very low price. Expensive dinner will be around 5$ but you can also eat good for as low as 0,50$

Nepalis in general are very friendly and you should never have a problem there as long as you stay friendly to. Crime against tourists does nearly not exist. Police never bothers with tourists but is helpful when you need them. If you have a problem allways go to the tourist police at Durbar Square.y

Now about the girls:

Your best and easiest choice is allways a massage parlour in Thamel. Prices of 2000 RP are only the first asked price. Allways bargain and you should not pay more than 1200 RP for a lay. Plus whatever you pay for the massage which should be between 1500 and 2000Rp for two hours of good massage.

This will be true for nearly all massage parlours. Some don`t offer full-service but just ask the girl for "special-service". The girls are mostly 18-20 with some real beauties. Most spek a little english but don`t plan on a nice conversation. I never tried to take them to my hotel, but most hotels shouldn`t be a problem, a little gift for the manager allways works whatever you want.

Another place to pick up girls is the dynasty club. There are many professional and semi-professional girls who will go to a hotel with you. They offer to go to their place, but you don´t want to stay in a nepali appartment if it´s not in a better area of KTM. But if the girls would live their they wouldn´t be working.
Also the small retaurants and bars around the dynasty club are a good place to find girls.

Besides that prostitution is more undercover than in any other asian country i`ve been to. But with a little bit of trying you find what you want. If you like a girl and become a regular she will go down with prices.

Best thing to do if you found a nice girl is ask here to join you on a 2 or 3 day trip to Nargakot about 1 hour outside of Kathmandu. A taxi should cost about 700RP. Stay in the hotel "Naked chef" good rooms and excellent food. Not expensive. The girl Should get about 50-100$ (3500-7000RP), depending on her "performance".

So if you heading to Nepal for trekking trying out the local girls is a good idea, but if you want nothing more then hot action you better head to Thailand.

i have lived in nepal for about 14 years, and the only way you are going to have any luck is to go to the massage parlours. you should ask for a massage, then negotiate if they ask you what you want. be direct. you might have to visit once or twice and get a real rub down, but 90% of these girls are pros. you should not pay more than 1500 to 2000 rupees. this is on the high end, and it is common for frequent customers to get services for 500 rupees.

i have had luck at some of the discos and dance bars, but it is difficult, especially if you don't speak the language.

Haven't been in Nepal for about six months, but I lived there close to three years. Here's the scoop - Most of the action for foreigners centers around Thamel section of Kathmandu. There's massage parlors all over and most will try and rip you off for a butt-ugly girl. But there's a couple that have quite a better selection with cleaner rooms available. On the north end of Thamel - at "kukuri corner" the place that is an open knife bazaar, second north-bound street - hang a right and find the hotel "Moondrops" or something like that almost across from the beer joint called Club 99 Degrees. Top floor and the madam's name is Renu. Being fluent in Nepali I spent quite a bit of time aculturating her to western ways and as far as I know I've been the only foreigner in her shop. She owns half of the "Mount Treks" massage parlor across the street right next to the Club 99 Degrees that's more oriented to westerners but there's only one or two decent girls in there and they'll expect you to come back a second time before offering FS.

For a half-hour massage and everything else expect to pay Rs1500 to 2000 (about $20 to $25). Privately negotiated with the girl you can probably get LT for Rs. 3000 but she'll be extreemly shy about going to your hotel - especially if it's in Thamel. Pick a lively girl as they're more into it, otherwise its typically just pulling up the skirt for a quick bang. And don't get too uptight with people knocking on the door and asking the girls how much longer - unless you spring for a private room - its very Nepali custom to not think about privacy. Everything's semi-public!

You'll hear a lot about dance bars and "cabin restaurants" but these have really curtailed their illegitamate business in the last year. Only well-established customers can get any action there. You'll also hear a lot about high-class girls - either movie "stars" or the girls who work in the casinos. I never had all that much cash while living there - about $100 a month - so I'm really not to sure about this. Based on my experience - it is available but only to select circles of Nepali men. Unless you're there for some serious business and are working with the right crew - forget it.

Despite the heavy amount of traficking of Nepali girls for Indian brothels, there really isn't a historical precident for sex tourism. Nepali's are pretty prudish and very worried about "correct" behavior. Outside of Kathmandu, while you can now hold a conversation with a woman - especially if she's a married woman - don't expect to walk down the street with her. She'll be worried that people will think you're in love - remember the long tradition of arranged marriages and not "love marriage." In Kathmandu, you'll find some liberally minded Nepali maidens from time to time and I wish you the best of luck.

USD 100 for action in Nepal! sounds like a ridiculously high price. There must be lower prices than this for quality. Any Nepalese guys out there to help out on this? I am interested as I agree Nepalese girls are beautiful.

The Thamel section in Kathmandu has many massage parlours. There is an upfront fee for the massage, and the "extras' are arranged through the lady and whoever is in charge. Prices are pretty steep for full service, I wasn't in the position to "dicker".
$50-100USD! The girls were fantastic, really gorgeous, and a good lay! Get there early, as most of them close up shop by 8:30PM. A good guide may be able to show you around outside Thamel, and I bet the prices are much less. Nepali women are gorgeous!
