I am going to write about the situation in Lahore in parts. If you find it helpful and interesting or need some specific information, please feel free to write about it, so that I can elaborate it in depth in the forthcoming episodes.

Scene in Lahore can be divided into three general categories.
1- Street Walkers (Hookers and Beggar Women)
2- Red Light Area (Hera Mandi)
3- Escorts (Mobile Phone Contacts and Independent Brothels)

1- Street Walkers: They can be further divided into two classes.
1-A: Professional Hookers: They can be found standing or walking in a suggestive manner along the roadside. Mostly they are in a group of two. The best place to find them is Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town and its vicinity and Shadman Market and the service lane leading to it, you may run into them on Main Boulevard Gulberg and Mall Road too. Once you get them in the car and don't like them, desembarking them becomes a big problem as they will try to get as much money from you as possible. They insist of going to a shopping mall where you are supposed to pay for their purchases. Sometimes they will have a place which they will highly boast about that it has a comfortable bed, airconditioning, heating etc but it will turn out to be a shithouse once you get there.

PRICE: Quoted price Rs: 1000 to Rs: 3000 ( $15 - $50) but willl easily agree on half the amount.

HYGIENE: Filthy. Expect hairy armpits and hairy arms and legs. Foul Smelling body.

1-B: Beggar Women: Most of these women are carrying a small baby and go from shop to shop and ask for money. They can be taken into the back rooms, basements etc. for the deed. They can be found all around Lahore wherever the markets are as well as around Data Darbar (Shrine).

PRICE: Rs: 1000 at the Most. Rs:300 -500 should be enough.

HYGIENE: Very Very filthy, to cut the long story short.

first, i highly advise against travel to third world countries unless you are a diplomat, reporter or a businessman with some strong backing.

unless you have some local contacts with experience in such matters, i strongly advise against sex tourism in pakistan. recently, pakistan in particular has turned from a near lawless society into a near police state.

islamabad is the only city where an experienced eye can spot street prostitution. i had one cab driver agree to take me to a prostitute but later backed off thinking that i may be a cop. i had another cab driver take me to a prostitute nida. after much bargaining, she charged 2,000 rupees and the guest house charged 500 rupees (58 rupees to a us dollar). she was punjabi and looked okay with clothes on but she was really heavy with clothes off - how much can shalwar-kameez (local attire) hide. she rushed me for fear of bust. she told me that she had a pashtun friend but when i called her next she thought i was a cop doing some sting operation.

i tried a lot in lahore. the traditional red light district (hira mandi) is extremely depressing on quality - and serves as a sex outlet for the poorest. i asked several rickshaw drivers but none could tell me of any place. i have heard that even if a rickshaw driver takes you to such a place, they call police raid on you. torture and humiliation is a integral part of pakistan law enforcement. so, beware.
