I go to the kaiten-sushi place next to Kirara sometimes, and I've seen western guys coming out of there (not with girls) a couple of times. Maybe the girls were fugly or they couldn't figure out how to negotiate. I have no idea, but gaijin do get in ok...

It was just that I was into it at the time. I studied in set classes and practiced in bars (alcohol helps remove the shyness at fucking up in Nihongo) and lived up north where people don't speak English much. Had to use it or not have much conversation in life. The nice point is when you can give up translating in your head and just engage the discussion. Much less tiring after that...Tanuki

Thanks for relating your experience. I guess the cost can add up in that situation. Do you or anyone have suggestions on keeping deai cafe encounter costs relatively lower, like not to exceed 30,000-35,000 yen total, incl. LH? Or is the assumption it will be stratospheric in cost unless you limit the take-out aspect to karaoke, restaurant, etc.?To that end and (diverging for a moment from the deai cafe thing) at any rate, one way to cut down on costs of an impromptu in-city mongering event: The other day I approached a 24-year-old busty chick on the street who was walking near the LHs next to Seibu Shinjuku Station. I hadn't planned it, as I was just walking along already having been in the neighborhood, and it wasn't a nampa thing in my mind as I was really pressed for time and I think she was out there open to proposals, but I said in Japanese that she was cute, I want to play and should we go to a coffee shop for a drink. Then, we walked together taking a left from the LH street, past the koban and up to a coffee shop for some small talk. I only had about 45 minutes free until I absolutely had to be on a train for an appointment somewhere else, and had in mind the quick budget option of heading to a rental room locally in the Kabukicho area. So I proposed this, reemphasizing there was definitely to be something in it for her, and we went and did the deed (with safe sex methodology paramount). Cost: 1000 for two drinks at the coffee shop, 2000 for a 70-minute course at the shower-equipped rental room adjacent on side street from Seibu Shinjuku Station (of which we really only used about 40 minutes max) and 10,000 for her (it's the recession, you know). So, 13,000 yen total cost for a quickie, and left with her phone number in case I'm ever in the area and in the mood again.I have walked past but never deigned to go into deai cafes in the hot areas of Shibuya/Shinjuku. Yet once, outside one deai cafe in the rather pedestrian shitamachi Asakusa area one evening, I got talking to a drunkish woman stumbling out the establishment as I was mulling whether to take the plunge and go inside; instead, I played dumb and took her to an izakaya to feed her (she was quick to agree to that, having had three drinks on a relatively empty stomach at the deai cafe), but she had to hit the road for her train afterward, and our personal chemistry wasn't all that great anyway so I never invested much energy in pursuing her further. She wasn't super-young either, just a relatively doable 30-something OL, but it was intriguing from my standpoint for seeing the types that frequent deai cafes away from Shibuya/Shinjuku, and what they may be after. Maybe I'l hit that scene up another time.

While I've never been to a place that wasn't gaijin friendly, the extreme xenophobia of the Japanese seems to lean positive wrt me. Maybe because I'm american, am extremely white, have blondish hair, and have blue eyes. Or it could just be how absolutely timid I look.Once I went into what I though was a fine steak eatery but it turned out to be a place that only served tongue. The hostess repeatedly tried to tell me it was tongue as she seemed to know I'd have nothing to do with that. I found her to be extremely nice and thanked her for the warning.

There's also two Gas Panics in Roppongi. The one, which is in an alley off the main road and very visible, is a fire hazard? when it gets late. There are so many people in there that it feels like a packed train. I was just standing next to the back wall, drinking some tea, and some other gaijin thought I was trying to hit on the girl he was working on.?I say this because the US has extremely tight building codes that deal with fire hazards so it was very different to me seeing a place that would clearly be a fire hazard, it had stairs to get into it, and it had only one exit.

Not very many. Just as in nearly any country, beauty and intelligence are often inversely proportional. To put it another way, they can spend their time concentrating on looking hot, or concentrating on learning a language which is just about as different from their native tongue as possible. Nobody can do both. Sometimes you get super-hot chicks who are naturally skilled at acquiring languages, or super smart chicks who are naturally hot (my personal favorite), but this is an extremely small segment of the population.

JETs and private eikaiwa teachers are just wet-behind-the-ears kids who usually wind up serving as living tape recorders because they have no training in teaching anything, much less language to Japanese people. And don't forget, the main source and motivation for learning English is so that you can pass the foreign language section of the entrance examination to your university of choice. There is no speaking test on that exam, and only a small listening section. JETs and private English teachers are usually up to their armpits in pussy, especially if they are halfway decent looking and can speak a fair amount of Japanese. I know my success rate went up exponentially when I was one. However if I knew a place where I could get LT J-GFE, I would definitely charge a LOT more than 5K yen. Marrying a J-Girl is a bad idea, as it usually results in a rapid drop-off in access to her pussy, no matter how much she might be gagging for it before you slip the ring on her finger. Japanese people are all about societal roles, and wanton housewife who screws her husband nearly to death four or five times a week is apparently not a recognized role.

I studied for several years before moving to Japan and living there for nearly a decade. I think the thing that pushed my fluency the fastest, though, was when I worked as an interpreter/translator. That is not for everyone, but once you think you have gone as far as you can with individual study, this is the best way for "breaking through the barrier" between mid and high fluency.

Portugal and Spain have a lot historically in common with English. Japan, on the other hand, was completely closed to foreigners for a length of time longer than the United States has been in existence. That means the language went through a lot of critical development isolated from everything else. That's what makes it so hard to learn. Regarding the prices, it's a function of the wealth of Japan. Latin America is not noted for its wealth. You can go to the Philippines, Thailand, or Indonesia and get just about all the things you describe in Latin America for the same price.

Thanks for the info. I've been meaning to try a deai cafe for a while but every time I decide to go there, I get distracted. I'm just curious, though, how does the initial conversation between you and the girl go? Did the girl go straight to business or did you make the usual small take?I don't think it matters much, but I'm just curious.

Three posts to your name, and you've already got a ROD. This is great and unique info. Also, you are a monger of distinction, with extreme dedication. I have never seen a post anywhere on ISG where someone paid so much, but a semi-pro "Shibuya girl" is probably the highest level of top-end mongering that someone can achieve, in this country and most others. I believe some of the most beautiful women in the world can be seen at Shibuya crossing and totally understand what you mean by the reference. That said, I wonder how gaijin of non-Japanese descent would fare. I expect that eventually, after waiting long enough, one would get a willing girl though. Maybe one of you other big spenders of a different genetic descent can go try and get bragging rights. I wonder how many of the 'Shibuya girls' can speak English. Obviously, as they dress in expensive clothes, they must come from well heeled and educated families and have gone to good schools. At least the ones that don't have to sell pussy at this place to buy those designer things. There is supposedly this wide network of JETS people teaching English and English is a part of the standard cirriculum, English is on the TV, in their popular culture, even in the words that are printed on their clothes...its almost pervasive..yet in practice most young Japanese seem to have next to no ability to speak it. But maybe that's cause I hang out near sexy places in the 'slums', like Ike, Otsuka, Sugamo, and places in Osaka like Umeda (not slum) and Nishinari-Ku. Not my words... I'm told by my Japanese coworkers that these are low class 'blue worker' districts and I shouldn't be hanging out there (but it's so fun!). They think I must be sophisticated. Wrong!! I wish I could find the real low end places, where the girls fresh from the farm in Kyushu to the big city are looking for some way to pay their rent doing LT with gaijin for low rates. Anyone that posts that, resulting in me getting LT J-GFE, is a hero and I will paypal you 5K yen.I did Rosetta Japanese 1-3 [people, don't waste a year of your time on this, not worth the hundreds of hours of effort. I want that part of my life back.] and know more of Japanese than the typical 20-something Japanese knows of English. They know how to say 'yes', 'no' and 'okay'. Something is wrong with the system. Also, how the do some of you guys get really 'fluent' in Japanese anyway..grow up here on the military bases, expat dad or something? I think it was changed to make it so fucking hard that gaijin would never want to live here and try to understand it. I picked up Spanish and Brasilian Porto like a breeze; Japanese is a pain. Perhaps the ease of the Latin-based languages contributes to the conquest of the country, and the quick conquest of the women. Which is why these are called Romance languages and are spoken in many places with awesome nympho GFE P4P where they fuck you unlimited pops until your dick hurts and your balls are dry, even bareback, for the price of a nice lunch at a respectable restaurant..and Japanese is not a Romance language and is spoken in a place with almost no GFE P4P under 25k yen. Keeping it in relative terms, thats like like 5 full 100 gm shabu-shabu dinner courses or 2.5 nice steak dinner courses. God, Buddha, Izanagi-no-Mikoto, help us to get these pussy prices down in Japan!

I also have to agree with PP's assessment. Even the most objective observer of Japan has to acknowledge that a certain level of racism, or perhaps just willful ignorance(?), exist here in regards to non-japanese. There are many wonderful things about this place though, so accepting a certain base level of racism just becomes part of the bargain or trade off of living here. Just calling it as it is doesn't necessarily equal a bad attitude.

    Deai Cafe & Happy Mail

I tried both happy mail and kirara cafe today and figured it may be of interest for some people. To be clear, I'm Japanese American and I speak passable Japanese for casual situations so I've never experienced the rejections others on this board may be getting. For those who are foreigners who can speak/read/write Japanese though, I don't think these options are necessarily closed to you. Believe somebody else has posted about Kirara in the past about their successes.So. I wanted to get laid this weekend so I started looking around for options. I wasn't looking necessarily for a cheap lay (I'm generally pretty picky). I started looking at happy mail because I remember seeing ads here and there around Shibuya. Its essentially supposed to be a match making site. I was hoping to find a sex friend (sefure) but it became pretty obvious after responding to a few posts on the message boards that at least the girls posting in the "adult" sections are generally pros. Most also do not have their photos up and also will not share it even if you ask them. Happy mail works by charging pts for every single mail you send or even read so I tried to get a few of the girls to start mailing outside of happy mail but that proved fruitless as well. I finally ran into one girl who had a photo which looked good so I set up a rendevoux in Shibuya. The girl that arrived was a cow that didn't look anything like the photo. If you are patient enough and have the time you may be able to hook up with a decent looking girl through this site. Most girls seemed to ask for 20k. I quit while I was ahead (I didn't pay anything as I stayed within the starting free points happy mail gives newcomers). After rejecting the cow I decided to give Kirara Cafe (deai cafe) in Shinjuku a visit. This was only the 2nd time I've been to a deai cafe, the first time being Nonno Cafe in Shibuya a while ago. My prior attempt ended up being a fruitless experience. I think I made the mistake of when talking to the girl that I wanted to go to the hotel directly (effectively skip the "date"). Anyways I got to Kirara Cafe, they waived the membership fee but they did charge me 5k unlimited entrance and talk time with girls. Meaning I can go in/out multiple times in a day if I don't see what I want. The setup is guys are in one room and girls in another separated by a magic mirror. When you see a girl you like you tell the attendant and he'll arrange a 1 on 1 talk time with the girl where you have 10 mins to seal the deal. If both you and the girl agree to date then you have to pay another 3k yen to take the girl out. In general the girl will expect to get an allowance of 5k. 10k for dating you. If you decide to take her to a hotel after the date it'll cost you a lot more. When I went today the place (around 7pm) it was bad. There were 6 guys in the room and only 1 girl in the other room. The girl was cute however and apparently newly signing up as a member. Unsurprisingly when the attendant came with her profile most of the guys (including me) raised our hands to have a personal chat time. The system in that case is fair where the guys would select a card from a stack and order is determined based on that. I wasn't so lucky this time with the draw and the guy who first talked to her decided to take her out on a date. I then waited what felt like ages till the next girl came (but passed on). Then around 8pm my luck changed and 3 girls came into the store at once. 2 out of the three was very very cute (the type of girls you see walking around Shibuya). I picked a 23 year old girl and proceeded to have the 1 on 1 talk. At which point we agreed on what we will do (karaoke) and how much was the allowance (10k). We then left the store together, singed Karaoke for an hour. Part of which was negotiating the cost to get laid. We then proceeded to a nearby love hotel and did the deed. I won't bother going into the details given this is a Deai cafe and as the girl doesn't work there you'll have a slim chance of meeting up.The only bummer is the cost of the experience, which was for me.- 5k entrance to kirara.- 3k to take the girl out.- 10k allowance for the girl.- 3k karaoke + drinks/food- 4k love hotel- 35k for sexTotal being 60k. PP, for what it's worth I have to agree with you. I'm basically a Tokyo salaryman, I work in a Japanese company, I visit the small places that other salarymen eat and drink in, and I only have a couple of non-Japanese friends that I see rarely. I live my day to day life without encountering racism, I've never encountered the sort of racism that I read other people have encountered (trouble with police, being turned away from shops etc). But occasionally I come across the mind set you describe and I'm reminded that I am in fact a white guy living in a foreign land and that Japan has a long way to go before it can be considered multicultural. Quite likely Japan will never be multicultural.I visit a couple of the places mentioned here regularly because I've given up trying other places. I do appreciate the efforts of the other mongers here that are willing to face rejection and take a hit for the team.

PP,Thanks so much for the link to that fine establishment in Ikebukuro. That fine, but filthy, part of town has been my den of iniquity this week, with Milky Baby and TMK Manami sessions. I am now considerably poorer (and in need of a good long sleep ...), but I think I have recharged my batteries enough to get me through the next 4 months of work. However, ... Mars pricked up my ears and got me thinking of dropping a bit more ? in Ikebukuro. Until I watched some of the videos on the site ... Ooohhh.... I am now sitting with my legs firmly crossed, and they may stay that way!

Thank for for that insight. It seems the sky is not the limit even for skilled J-mongers such as yourself who are fluent in Japanese but still concerned about getting caught out as a non-Japanese over the phone. I think that your posts on this board confirm everything I am saying. The concerns of ISG'ers in Japan would seem ludicrous to people from most other threads on ISG. It is rough here. Guys in the Arab muslim countries have an even easier time.No need to flame me. I post info that gets people laid, here and in Osaka. I spend a few months a year working in Japan, so am not gaijin tourist. But this is P4P, not nampa, and if you have cold cash and a hard dick, what difference should it make whether you are here for a day or a lifetime? Even in rural Mexico and hidden nooks of downtown Rio de Janeiro where gringos are rarely seen, let alone fucked, I have no problem laying anything I want and never experience the kind of racism that exists in Japan. They could just as easily take my wallet and push me out the door. The police would do nothing. But they choose to fuck me and treat me very well. So when I indicate that people in Japan are still generally still backwards, this is where I am coming from. That said, there are some people with a modern outlook like Milkybaby, Jan-Jan and D-cup. But this is maybe, what, 0.05% of the total that is available to Japanese? Exceptions rather than the rule. What, you've never seen an unagi film? Anything that people eat in a sushi bar, Japanese A/V find some way for a girl to have sex with it...or at least give the apperance thereof. Unagi, tako, etc.
