That states that you can't seek out fellow travelers to share the cab fare as many, IMO, are going to the the downtown area or, at least, very close to it. (this could be done on the plane, waiting in the immigration line or at the taxi stands).

Negotiate with the cabby first and get a price for the location(s) of the single stop(or stops) that you intend to make!

With some networking and luck, this could also be done when you leave to return home!

Don't pay more than $20. Arrange this price in advance before getting into the cab.

It depends. If you take a cab, it will be about $20. If you book the Airport Shuttle at least four days in advance and pre-pay (which I usually do), it will be $9.50. I have only shared the "shuttle" with one person once and she was going to my same hotel.

I guess you did not read the post correctly. I did not say CR was dangerous, I stated that San Jose was dangerous. When the locals are afraid to walk at night, that is a sure sign of danger. There is a reason why there is barb and razor wire on many of the buildings. I rode in my buddy's car while traveling to restaurants and my buddy would not let me roll down the window while driving in certain areas.

BTW, I do not have a partner, nor need one. I do not plan to travel Nicaragua, and stopped traveling to Brazil because of the increasing cost and street crime.

Some parts of San Jose are dangerous, others not. Been there a dozen or so times, and I've never had any problems, and I do a hell of a lot of walking, even at night. I have also consistently encountered locals walking around at night. I think you are overstating things. Yes, watch your back, take the necessary precautions, learn something about the dicey areas, take a cab at night, and you should be alright. It is not such a dangerous city that people ought to be afraid to visit. Having said all this, I have heard of people getting mugged during the brief stroll from the Del Rey to the Presidente or Morazon.

My rules:

1 Go for the chica that is attracted (or seems to be attracted) to you and not you solely to her.

2 If the vibe feels wrong walk away or just pass it up.

3 DO NOT pass it up then go back to it, you lose your ability to negotiate (price & service)

4Always be polite & courteous displays of dissatisfaction at the price should seem sincere but is merely part of the negotiations.

Thursday, before the fiasco at the bus station we went to lunch then over to New Fantasy. All the times in the past my experiences have been good. This time was not the case; first I broke my rule no. 1. Went with a tall thin brunette with long sexy legs. First a real massage which was actually quite good, then the up selling starts. She wanted an extra $40 (20,000 CRC) for a CBJ. I firmly and clearly said no. Then she dropped the price to $20 (10,000 CRC) and I again said no. Then she goes on and on about we cannot just f*&$K without the bj. I was ready to take care of business and did not need the bj. She slipped on the jimmy hat and proceeded with cbj anyway. Did doggie then mission style at which time the clock started ticking. Did not finish as only paid for ½ hour because had a bus to catch. Last time I was here in 2008 I had Karen which was great. She asked for an extra $10 (5,000 CRC) for bbbj, because I could not get a release, which I gladly paid. I asked about her after the ordeal but know one knew of her. Did not go back to New Fantasy this trip.

After returning from Jaco on Friday, I had to show my buddy the HDR and KL. He comes from a country were the P4P trade is prosecuted to a greater extent and more severely than in the United States (If you can believe it). Needless to say this blew his mind. After hanging out for a while I notice that something was lacking: Nicas. All of these Colombianas kept telling me that they are Ticas and the Dominicanas are saying they are Colombianas from Cali. My first buddy (friend A) picked up a chica that spoke perfect English and he was able to arrange TLN for $80. Too bad he had a room w/o A/C. Friend B and head again this time to HLH. Pamela was there but I was more interested in a thin little Asian looking chica. We decide to leave and check out Krysis nothing interesting then on to Molina Rojo. Friend B took a brown skinned chica in back for ½ hour $22 (11,000 CRC). I was going to jump on a skinny sandy-blonde but was told by several Ticos that “ella es loca en la cabeza” so I left it alone. Saw another blonde nice solid muscular body but got beat out by a Tico. Went to VIPS had a slender Nica long black hair olive skin, bbbj deep throat followed by doggie and nice wide open access mission no restrictions. Encanta mi Nicas (Love my Nicas)

Saturday, (had to baby sit friend A on a city tour of San Jose and a couple of museum visits and his exploits to attempt to pick up on a couple of tourist chicks, an Asian from Canada and a woman from Mexico. The Asian was very nice. Later proceeded SL had dinner, saw some nice offerings onsite but did not partake. Went to Idem it was closed, tried Relax across the street; I do not know why but I never like the chicas here and I have gone in here about fifteen times mostly waiting on Friend B. Checked out Club Monaco there was only one Fat chica working. Went back to HDR and KL, after several hours of taking in the sights and some chit chat with several chicas I found three Dominicanas at KL. What caught my attention is that the fair complected blonde looked just like my wife with smaller chest and more junk in the trunk. Friend B likes his chicas a little more on the dark side so he went with Ruth. Friend A did not like the third chica and passed on her. After about twenty minutes of negotiating we settle on $70 (35,000 CRC) for two hours. Friend B and I share a room at the hotel this way we get to trade chicas or double up. I definitely got the better of the two as far as enthusiasm and energy. Great deep throat BJ, several different versions of cowgirl, doggie and the mission. Very good experience I gave her $90. My friend on the other hand had to coax his chica into the bj and only really got it good when he put her knees in her chest and hammered in mission. Also this chica set her cell phone to alarm every 15 minutes. He broke my rule no. 1 and it showed. I also lost time with my chica since his wanted to leave early.

Sunday, friend B is leaving in a few hours so we start the hunt at a Tico place can not remember the name it is on Avienda 9 between Calle 7 and 9 on the north side of the street. Quoted 10,000 CRC ½ hr & 15,000 CRC 1 hr I liked the Tica Blanca but my friend wanted to check out HLH. Pamela was there again, I was going to take her but got beat out by another monger. Friend B was going to take a chica at the end of the bar then Michelle came in. HOT!! thin caramel complexion black curly hair and tight body. Pointed her out to my friend. He finally followed my rules and scored big time. After dropping him at the bus station I went back to HLH for Michelle, Very good experience. Good bbbj, cowgirl, doggie, spoon and knees in chest mission nice deep and hard. Gave her ext 10,000 CRC (5 from my friend and 5 from me). Had dinner at SL with Friend A then headed over to HDR and KL. Friend A hooks up with same chica from Friday. Had TLN for $30. I violated ALL of my rules. She was drunk off her AZZ (made me a bit nervous remembering high school days.) passed on another tall slender sandy-blonde who just would not come down on her price. I lost out on a thick brunette while chatting with the second blonde. Passed on three Colombianas. After going back and forth a thick Tica I took her back to the hotel because my friend’s Ticas said they were friends and that she is cool. NOT EVEN!!!! Lousy cbj, just licked the head did not take it in her mouth. Did her doggie for about 15 minutes then over for mission. Hands in the way, legs constantly moving and hips moving out of the way. Could not get a solid pounding. Then she told me I had 4 minutes and accused me of taking pills to last longer. After some argument I took off the condom lubed her butt and did her Italian until the final moment, held her down by the shoulders plugged her butt and released on the second stroke. Overall it was not bad but was not good. I will definitely avoid her if I see her again. Sorry I do not remember her name.

Had a 7 am flight so let her go at 4am showered and headed for the airport at 4:30 am. I detail other aspects of this trip in there appropriate threads.

I rode in my buddy's car while traveling to restaurants and my buddy would not let me roll down the window while driving in certain areas.

BTW, I do not have a partner, nor need one. I do not plan to travel Nicaragua, and stopped traveling to Brazil because of the increasing cost and street crime.

Sorry Steve I was rushing trying to post tonight before I have to leave for work, I'm glad to hear that you had a great tripbest one in 9 years last Dec.

You need to get to Managua more often, Its much less expensive and about the same grade hoes C. F.

I have been to Managua several times....last time I tried unsuccessfuly to rent an apartment there for 30 to 60 days....nothing doing....either they were dumps or they were way out of town, or they were too expensive for my budget....anyway I left Managua after being there for 3-4 days (that trip) and rode the Tica Bus to San Jose....have done that a number of times too.

My thoughts on Managua & Nicaragua......it is pretty much a real 3rd world country there....not as good as CR or Panama...except the women are basically the same but cheaper in Nicaragua...but I probably will not be going back to Nica Land.

I went to CR on March 28th and stayed through holy week. Bad move on my part, but I still enjoyed the trip. I have an old navy buddy that lives there, which gave me another reason to go there. I stayed 5 nights at SL and I really liked the feel of that place, small, but cozy with women available throughout the day and night. I had the Del Ray room, which was roomy with a outside porch to boot. But only a view of a fucken wall.

The first night I got in late, plus it was Sunday, not the best night for mongering. There was one girl at the SL bar that came over, but she wanted 100 bucks for one hour. And would not come down in price. I was tired anyway, so it was not hard to decline.

The next day my buddy took me to see a volcano. A big hole with smoke, but it was a decent experience. That night, I meet two Nicas (Ana & Lucy) at the SL bar and they both wanted 100 bucks for an hour, and at this point, I'm thinking about taking the next flight to Thailand. WTF? Anyhow, they settled for 60 each and a tip if they performed really well. Ana was really sweet, but was more mechanical with her moves and positions. Juicy Lucy was already half drunk and did not care what I wanted to do with her. It was all available. Ana left, but JL stayed for a while because she wanted to play more. Which was fine with me.

Lucy left about midnight and I walked out to the bar to get another drink and on the other side of the bar was Karen and Jessie. They asked me if I wanted to go dancing at Key Largo. Being three sheets to the wind, I said let's go! Key Largo was a decent scene and we did our share of dancing. Then the girls asked me, "Why were you with two Nicas, and not us Ticas? " I really had no answer, so I bought more drinks and that seemed to keep them quiet.

The next day came early because I went to the Pacuare River for whitewater rafting. On a hangover! After a couple of dips and water on the face, I was awake once again. Great trip by the way! That night, I met Karen and Jessie, and Karen talked about this BBQ place and how the food and drinks were the best in the freaken world. So off we went. It was like a cowboy place for steaks and ribs at a dead-end road. Food was good, but nothing to return to, unless I lived there of course.

That night I decided not to have both in the room at a time, but because Karen was headed to the beach the next day, I figured Karen tonight and Jessie tomorrow night. Karen was quite passionate in the rack, but I forgot to negotiate a price before the action. Bad mistake. She wanted 100 bucks! I said WTF, I paid for your food and drinks for two fucking nights and you still want 100 bucks? She settled for 80.

The next night was my best, I spent it with Jessie. We meet at SL on Wednesday night, before the police shut all the bars down. We went to eat at Hotel Amistad. This was the second time I ate there. Really good food! After dinner she said she was cold, so I figured shots would warm her up. And I was correct! We had a great time thereafter and between her and the rafting trip, that's what made my trip memorable.

I did get a chance to go to the DR, not big on the scene, all the women grabbing my crotch like it was an ATM. But I can understand why others like the place.

Final thoughts: I really like the vibe at SL and thought the women were hot. I did not get a chance to visit the MPs because of the day tourist trips and spending time with my buddy and his wife. I wish I had more time to check out Havana, NF, and some of the others. But after saying that, these girls are asking way too much money for an hourly rate. I read though many reports how "Joe Stud" got 5 hours with two hot Ticas for 50 bucks. Bullshit!

I'm not sure if I will ever return to CR for a few reasons: One, I can get to Tijuana within 30 minutes. Two, I have too many other places I want to explore, such as places in South America and Europe. Three, San Jose is dangerous! I feel comfortable walking around Tijuana at midnight, but even the ladies told me to take a cab at night because they were robbed. If I was in the security business, such as barb and razor wire, I could make a small fortune in San Jose!

Either way, I was a good trip and I made more memories to share with my grandchildren, if I ever have any!

The personalized, knowledgeable service that Bill (as an ex-pat former punter who found the Tica of his dreams and settled down in SJ) can and does provide at Sportsmen's Lodge transcends the traditional star ratings of chain hotels. I'd stay at Sportsmens before I'd stay anywhere else in San Jose. If I were on a tight budget, I'd stay in one of their low cost rooms, if I were looking to splurge, I'd stay in one of their top Jacuzzi suites. Star ratings go out the window when it comes to this little hobby of ours - It's much more important to patronize an establishment that properly caters to our particular needs, rather than discouraging them - and Sportsmen's Lodge does exactly that.

I have been in lots of different hotels in Costa Rica, and I can highly recommend the operation that Bill runs at the Sportsman's Lodge in San Jose.

He goes out of his way to make everyone there....employees, locals, and guests to feel right at home. It is perhaps one of the best places for mongers to headquarter while visiting Costa Rica.

Hey......matter of fact the boss took a couple of the other salesmen and myself on an all expense paid trip for 8 days to Costa Rica last December - during our slow time here at SOS.

We are all divorced guys with grown children....including the boss----so who cares.

We had a great time, and it was one of my best trips yet to Central America in the last 9 years.

My security staff and I returned from CR a few days ago before the thread
(current/general reports was added again), Here's some advice if you can afford to stay at a major chain hotel as I do not these mom and pops or rip off joints you wont have any problems or additional charges if you are so inclined to bring women in and out of your suite ( my favorite) or your room.
