To substantiate this I have navigated from Astrakhan to Anapa, around Kursk, Kiev, Kharkov a few times and Belarus the once as sadly on my first trip I came back with a wife... (And that would be my advice to a 27year old if I may, don't deal on the first temptation). As to travels and the practicalities I have never had a single problem over the years which I think speaks volumes as to the inate if low-key hospitality of the locals.
(If you think I am arrogant for not learning Russian - which I would agree on - however it helps convince the wife I am not looking for her replacement.)
The young (to me) girls in bars and clubs I have never approached from cold as for sure the language and age gap work aggressively agaisnt such a style. However, lonely-hearts and strippers are my Plan A and Plan B which has always given me enough thrills and spills to be very happy. As this was not your focus I live that there.
I wish I was 27 again as I may not have to reach for the wallet so often. And that I think has been one of the keys of keeping things smooth: be generous with the cash. A little can go a long way in the FSU, not as far as it used to so be realistic based on quotes given here, however dollars certainly help to smooth over most issues. You don't have to flash the cash. Learn how to palm.
I know in P4P over-paying is deeply frowned upon on the forum for queering the local market but I just go weak at the knees when negotiating with a blondinka and am unable to haggle sensibly over beauty. After all I have flown half way around the world to get my hands on her and quibbling over £100 seems a trifle in comparison to those hassles. So, where possible oil the wheels of commerce.
I have always found saying I am from London to be a mild positive.
Happy hunting.

I just went through your last 150 posts dating back to November 1, 2009, and I did not find one word about flats, which you claim to "have already written several times."
I was looking for actionable information, like a link or a phone number or at least a name. What I got was the same opinion over and over again, which is pretty much that everyone sucks.
So what did I gain from RTFF? Nothing of value.
Again, I remind you to take this in the right spirit: You write an awful lot, but you say very little.
It would clean up this board and make it much easier to read if from now on you would only report empirical facts and drop all of the philosophizing and posturing that goes on in your posts.
Please say something useful or just log off.
Thank you for your consideration!

Hi,
I have been trying to use Mamba for the last couple of evenings in an attempt to line up some talent for an upcoming trip without much success. I am thinking that it must be me, that I have no "game" for striking up a conversation. I will see a profile that I like (something that takes some time) and will send a message, with something simple like, "I saw your profile and would like to learn more about you" or "your photos are amazing" or "I am coming to Kiev soon on business and would like to meet you". What do I get in return? Nothing! Almost nothing. Once I got a return message that said, "I kiss him" and it ended there and one other time, I got a price list. Sure, the price list is nice to know, but I would like something a little more than that as I am not opposed to setting up a sponsor situation. So, a little frustrated, I am turning to you, the experienced fishermen out there, for some tips and hints on how to make Mamba work.
Thanks!

One place you may have some success at is:
The London School of English
39 Polytehnichna str.,
Building 19, Office 105,
Kyiv, Ukraine 03056
(38044) 277-8654
(38044) 236-5277
(38044) 277-892
If you send them an advert outlining your requirement, they could recommend one of their lead students. It is imperative that you satisfy yourself with a tele-conversation before finalising your choice. A skype chat would give you a visual too, so that you may make up your mind with more information.
Do let us know how this formula works for you.

I'll be in Kiev in a couple of weeks and don't know Russian yet alone Ukrainian. My language skills suck so a crash course is out of the question. Does anyone have an electronic translator they can recommend? The reviews of most I've seen (like Franklin and Lingo) say they have built in words and phrases and one cannot type in their own sentence. I know it sounds like a stupid question but any suggestions are appreciated.
By the way, I'll be in Kiev July 20-28. Anyone that is there during that time that wants to get together for a drink send a PM.
Cheers,
Doc

I think Rainer will have the same question in paying the girl $500 for a week. I doubt he will fork over the cash in the first five minutes over coffee.)

Moliere. Up for a pivko?
I will be in Kyiv the 20th.
As for your 'idea'. I have never actually followed thru with your 'plan'
But I have sent countless offers out there.
I have found the girls very timid & reluctant to actually come? Would you? (I wouldn't travel to meet me!).
Why not travel to them? Then if things work, bring 'them back with you?

If you must, conduct an experiment. Send some messages out with $500, others with $800, other with other varying amounts and see what happens. Then report results to us.
I am surprised that living in Kiev as I also do that you cannot find opportunities outside the clubs and mamba. It makes some sense if you do not speak Russian or Ukrainian but surely by now you do?
I have had success with store clerks, waitresses and girls in so many other jobs and locations. It is just a matter of sensing what is possible and then simply starting a conversation. 90% of any meeting that leads to subsequent pleasures is what Bez outlined just below, the determination to succeed. You should never fear failure since there will be another possible conquest just around the corner, especially in Kiev.

But she does not speak English; I have basic knowledge of Russian.
I will go to Zap before, for a one-night-stand. I want to see her in real life first, and I really doubt, that a girl would spend own money for a trip to a totally stranger, who even might be a "Godzilla".
So I might be able to tell you some facts next month :-)

Greetings!
I don't think I'm the dumbest guy on the forum...on the other hand, if I have a brilliant idea I don't think I'm likely to be the first. So let me ask for reactions to this approach which I have seen discussed.
Background: I live in Kiev and I'm 57 years old.
Since I have absolutely zero interest or tolerance for night clubs, and since I am losing patience with the Mamba approach (make lots of dates, send endless messages, and few of the girls actually show up), I am thinking to invite a girl from someplace like Krivoy Rog to come to Kyiv for a month. Which girl? Well, I would write to several dozen on Mamba/Singles.
In principle, this avoids several problems. The girl does not have an excuse to ask me to send passport, visa and airline money in advance. Nor will she likely send fifteen emails making me think she is interested and waiting for me to propose fifteen successive times and places to meet.
If she actually comes to Kyiv, then she has more invested in the encounter than I do on day one. She has the incentive to make it work, and to send a decent photo since she will not just get back in the taxi and go home.
So comments?
How much to pay for a 19-25 year old at 7/10 for a month? And how do you rate the chances for success given an offer of $2,000 or $2,500 for the month.
All the best,
Moliere
