There may be a cover charge now at the Beatle Bar....as reported....but it should not be soo much to hamper your trip to Jaco. Granted the beach itself in Jaco Beach is not the best maintained or cleanest in the world...but it's OK, and the town has a good beach vibe to it....so you should still enjoy yourself there.

Look around and you will see alternatives places to monger instead of being at the Beatle Bar.......and if you just do not want to pay the cover charge.....I think you could do just as good sitting at the chairs and tables at the small convience store which is just right beside the Beatle Bar. And then also head down the street a couple of blocks to the Monkey Bar...there is some action going there...and so far no cover charge - that I heard about.

And here is good tip for some daytime action. Around 11 AM till about 2 PM (lunch time) go down to the Colonial Restaurant in the middle of town, and get yourself one of the outside tables (almost right on the sidewalk).....and it has been my experience that lots and lots of the working gals will be walking up and down the sidewalk there.....with no place else to go at that time.....( as many of them stay at the little cabinas within a couple of blocks of that location) and when they stroll by, you can make eye contact with them (when a good-looker passes by). chat her up a bit, and then offer to have her sit down with you for a drink. One thing leads to another......and just perhaps you can do some good doing that.

I have pulled countless Nooners from doing just that at that location....several times....and perhaps you will find that the afternoon sessions are somewhat cheaper than trying to pull them out of the Beatle Bar for a session in the evenings.

    Have fun..........

I think the former owner who sold the Beatle Bar to the current owner really made him (them) pay thru the nose. So perhaps he is just trying to recoup some of his money. But if one wanted a cool bar / hangout for gringos in Jaco. Why pay a real big price to buy the Beatle Bar. Why not just go down the street and find a another suitable building, and put in a similar bar. Offer free drinks to the ladies for the first week of business. And then you would probably have all the business you needed to make a good living. My 2 cents.

Three years ago there was no charge to get in.

The owner is a gringo and it appears that he is sticking it to the customers. Greedy bastard. Trying to jack up the prices. I hope fewer clients visit the place. The overall quality of the woman has gone way down and they still think they will get $100. Crazy. Fewer gringos coming to Jaco. Don't ever pay $100. I always pay $60 or less for one hour.

aBusiness is down all across Jaco. I say protest the place. Someone else should come to town and open up a place that does not charge a cover.

Missed Saturday the 30th in Beatle. I heard it was rocking. Went last night and there were some girls dressed up. Pretty hot. Catwoman, sexy nurses, hot costumes. Too bad I missed Saturday.

    New Beatle Bar prices

The Beatle Bar raised admission prices to 4, 000colones for men and 2, 000 for women.

    Beatle Bar

I went to the Beatle Bar on 10/3 and 10/4, each night about 10. 11 PM, the bar was crowded, about 60 girls and about 10 guys. For me, I would not want to bring a girl to my hotel room, when you can go next door to the Beatle Hotel, for $20, for an hour.

The Beatle Hotel has mirrors above the bed, rooms are clean and quiet.

Sure were a large variety to choose from; didn't see any 9's or 10's but not many worse than a 6. I was happy with Adrianna, Nica, a little aggressive but not in a bad way.

    Looking for locals...

If you have game or want something outside the Beatle...try some of the local hangouts.

The "alley bar" behind Pachis Pan is an alternative place to visit for an 800 colones beer and good kareoke on Friday night. Usually there are local chicas there and with some game you can score a decent chica for a few drinks or maybe some good singing.

"Plankton" bar usually has some non pros hanging out on the weekends that are game if you can speak some spanish.

"Monkey Bar" after midnight is game if you can speak some spanish and especially if you can dance. Beware of the team tag pickpockets working the place which includes some of the women who come over from the Beatle Bar. The Monkey Bar is a pickpocket haven...beware. Otherwise it can be a cool place to go afterhours.

"Divas" above the Pancho Villas is a total ripoff. Avoid unless you want to get ripped off.

    Hotel Cocal y Casino

The Hotel Cocal is an alternative to the Beatle Bar. The poolside bar typically has a number of regular chicas hanging out trolling for gringos who don't know any better. Or maybe they do.

It appears that the chicas that visit the Cocal are regulars. They are a mix of dominicanas, colombianas, nicas and ticas. Lately they have been mastly dominicanas. Trolling for "cien" or a $100 dollars. Overzealous gringos without any knowledge of Jaco will pay this and more. Beware that the going rate is $50. If you pay more you are "el gringo estupido".

Beware of the bartenders trying to pad your bill with an extra beer or two especially if you are intoxicated. Always ask for the bill and keep track of your beers. They WILL add extra drinks to your bill.

Jaco economics and the Beatle Bar

The low season here in Jaco is worse than ever for tourism. The worldwide economy has affected Costa Rica and in particular Jaco. Most construction here has halted for lack of investment and everywhere you look are half finished high rise hotel and condo projects. With that said.

The Beatle Bar is loaded with women and short on male customers leading to the law of supply and demand. I have been here since the beginning of June and have been to the Beatle a number of occasions and have spoken with the girls and the locals. Business for the ladies is way down. What is surprising is that the ladies still "ask" for $100. The truth is that they will take $50 because there is so much competition. They still have to pay the rent and send some money home.

The local gringos are paying $40-60 for the women in Beatle. If you are quoted $100. Counter with $50. There are 8-10 women for every man in the Beatle almost every night. It is a buyers market. If you are paying $100, you are a sucker. Never pay for TLN. The lady will almost never stay the entire night, there will always be an excuse to leave unless she is from Puntarenas or Quepos and cannot get a bus until the next morning. They would rather sleep in your bed than hang out at the Monkey bar or Pancho Villas.

The Ticas and Nicas will treat you best. The colombian women are okay but don't expect any GFE. The dominicanas are con artists. Stay away.

If you are paying more than $100 at this time during the low season you are getting ripped off.

    To KickShot

Morgan's Cove is a dump; bad location; terrible service and they try to upcharge you on check out and nicke;l and dime you everytime you turn around; NEVER AGAIN for me! They would back down when upcharges were challenged but it got SOOO old. And what an aggravation to have to always be on your toes.
