I was in Shanghai for 5 days and thanks to the info from this forum I had great time there. I stayed a kind of far out of city, close to Ramada Plaza Pudong where a lot of foreigners seems to live. It’s like 60-80 RMB taxi fare to Nanjing Road.

Massage places:
I tried one of the massage places nearby hotel and went for full body massage for 150RMB. Actaullay there were couple of massage places and spas nearby maybe targeting the expats. The girl was from Jiangzu province and spoke decent English. In the room she gave me excellent massage and at the end offered me handjobb. I did not have lot of RMB as the ATM nearby was down and only had 300. She agreed. All in all, good experience. She gave the telephone number if I want her to the hotel.

I had time to visit other places later at night. Based on research I figured out Judys, Malones and Manhatten are the choices.

Tuesday: Judys was almost empty. Malones had lots of people but I had trouble seeing who is working and who is not. Manhatten was packed and there was no doubt about who is who.

Wednesday: The same as Tuesday except there were more girls at Malones.
Thursday: Judys had few girls, Malones was packed but the quality was not up to Manhatten. Manhatten was really packed. Most girls seemed to enter the scene between 11PM and mid night.

I preferred to spend most of my time at Manhatten. Tuesday I met few guys from Australia and UK had we ordered several rounds of drinks. Most drinks cost 50 and beer 40. Overall, Manhatten has the hottest girls. Most of them were from Philippines or Vietnam. May be I paid too much but I really had good time.

I finally managed to wander near my old 6F haunt near Jing'an. The elevator was dead and no security guard. Damn. Walked a bit further and noticed the Golden 18 doors were chained shut. I then decided to walk down towards the famous Shanghai Hotel. I had never been there, so I was curious to finally find it. I found it. Stupid me couldn't remember all the posts I had read a year ago about the place, so it took me a while to figure out that the spa was on the 3rd floor. Once I did. I surely must have forgotten another several hundred posts I had read. As I walked in, some guy immediately asked if I wanted a "massage". I replied. Uh. "yes". I was taken to the left side of the front desks into a small area where some ladies were giving foot massages. After I paid the silly amount of money and left. I notice a Chinese guy walk up to the front desk. Say something. Then walk straight down to the right. I noticed that seemed to be where I should have been. I'm sure its written in the forum. And I have forgotten it. Was I meant to just walk to the right without asking? Argh.

Funny thing. I was RTFF in the lobby of the hotel to find out which floor to go to. Ha. Maybe I should have read a bit more to refresh my memory

I'll be doing some more wandering soon and will report back. From what I'm reading I don't expect to find much from the old places. Next month I'll be heading down to SE Asia for a week. I'll dream of that for now and hope that when I return things have started to relax here again.

Yep, went to Hailang last Wed which now only offers massage with no extra. Called Golden 18 and they are on holiday Break, walked by Heting Elite which is locked. Was wondering around South Station yesterday which I consider a pretty out of the way place to be as far as downtown Shanghai and where the police should be looking at. Can definitely confirm that SH is going on lockdown. Even the fake markets are feeling the heat. First time I've experienced that they try to negotiate price before running around for 10 minutes and bringing the goods (watches). Also KTV that I take friends from out of town were being checked by policia both days that we went. By experience, I have noticed that in Shanghai, I get much more success than anywhere else! For a while, I thought that this was just due to money, but now I realy think that there is something else: we are exotic
