I've been going full ahead. Having three gals a day for nearly a week now before leaving paradise. I admit that am really quite worn out now. Need some Vit C since I cannot realistically keep this pace w/out some help -- and no sympathy out there, eh??

Just as an example, from yesterday I met up with the gal who I paid for dental work. She was absolutely thrilled her teeth were fixed. To review, had dental problems. To me, question is not why this so cheap, but how the F**K any sane person could defend the US healthcare system -- assuming a tooth extract etc cost over 1200 baht back US. Anyway, don't get me started. Recommend dental / medical care here in LOS. My teeth were cleaned for 700 baht and they said a filling need be replaced at a cost of 800 baht -- which I will get to eventually. And how much would that cost in the US ... .


Moving on. After my dental gal for morning, and she was very very grateful trust me, did Bliss about 3:PM. Now, there were no attractive gals in front of the place yesterday afternoon. Personally, I don't care, and am willing to suffer. Went with an unattractive gal to the counter, and gal behind the counter asked "Do you want her?" I replied half joking, "No, I want you." Completely agree LBM. Such people are infuriating. Yea ... let's compare those SWs on OBT in Orlando, Miracle Mile in Tuscon, or Van Buren in Phx or those on Hollywood Boulevard to all Americans living all across America. Brilliant logic.

Follow all the road rules, helmet, make sure you have your driver's license at all times, and ride in the far right lane nonchalantly. I have only been pulled over and seen them pull people over from the left lane which is closest to the police station because they stand on that side. They never pull people over who are riding in the lane closest to the beach. Even if they tried to pull you over from that right lane you should be looking nonchalantly away from them and going fast enough to miss them trying to pull you over.

Personally never ride motor bikes in Pattaya. Seen too many accidents. Question is not if but when you get in an accident. Only a matter of time. Suspect I one of the few, but I walk everywhere. Like the exercise too. Few times I take the 10 baht bus --- very rare.

Good advice. Luckily I was just walking past this time. My only brush with the MiB was when I left my bike parked in Waking Street beyond 6pm. Returned to find it chained up, but a nice policeman would unlock it for 300, er, no, 600Bht. It was the rapidity of the doubling of the fine as he nearly forgot the faring surcharge that nearly made me laugh.

Not much of a story, I know, but 300 baht ST for a gal (ok, a hot waitress) from an a-gogo (+ the 600 BF). Not bad.

Some rules are made to be broken in certain situations. And this appears to be one of those situations. Sounds like you could have pulled LT from her for that same price. It is actually a very big story. I have never heard of the "tip" being less than the BF in Thailand....and 50% less at that. Maybe she thought she was in PI.

Good to see the MiB making a great effort to raise charitable donations for the above fund. Just a friendly wave from the few MiB standing outside the new Hilton site on Beach Road to the passing scooter riders, and they all pulled over and happily made a sizeable donation.

I say 'all', I really mean just farangs. It seems that it is only farangs who commit driving transgressions in Pattaya, and the locals are remarkably good and safe drivers.

Plan to be in Patts from 20th Nov for 10 days or so and thinking of staying in the above. What have been your experiences? Is it near the Jomtien bars and Walking St?

Grateful for any views/experiences.

It is a great hotel at a good price if booked at FLB Bar's website, 1450 Bt. It is not really near anything though. You will have to take the Bt bus to get anywhere. It is a 10 to 15 min walk to walking st and forever to Jomtien.

I have not stayed there but people who I knew have and enjoyed the experience, had no problems and would stay there again.

Personally depending on when you were in America, it isn't the standard rate for all American women, since I've gotten one for less than $10.00 in the past but that was when I was young and stupid. Kumbu has written elsewhere about the emotional trajectory one passes through on arriving in Pattaya. With me there is a clear day or two of excitement, then ennui sets in and I start to feel 'what's the point?' It usually takes meeting someone special to jerk me out of that (and I use the term loosely), so today after wondering whether I could be bothered to wander down to Soi 6 for a little post-lunch relief, or whether I should save myself for Miss Y (who will almost certainly not turn up tonight), I chose the former.

Needing to avoid the 3 Angels Bar, I sloped down Soi 6/1 as far as the first alley way, and crossed into Soi 6 proper. Just there I met a sweet young thing who was just emptying the remains of her lunch into a bin before heading back to work (romance can be found in the strangest places...) I had a quick chat and discovered the vital statistics (name, age and where she works), before heading on down the Soi. I was very tempted, but I couldn't realistically choose the first girl I saw in Soi 6 when I wasn't even in Soi 6 yet.
