Thank you for all the info on this site. Here is a nonmongering query. I will be traveling with a MacBook Pro used in the U.S. What kind of a plug will I need for it in Brazil. Will I need a transformer

The majority of places in Brazil use the same plug as the US. Hence you will not need anything. Rio & Sao Paulo mostly use 110v US plug.

Some other places in Brazil use 240v, but they usually have a 110v plug somewhere in the hotel/apartment.

Btw, Notebooks have an inbuilt AC adaptor connected to the power plug (the black box), hence you can use them pretty much anywhere in the build and they will adapt to whatever voltage is present, ie 110v upto 250v all works fine.

Anyone able to recommend a cleaning service to do a one-time clean, top to bottom, of an apartment prior to move-in of a tenant?

Anyone know a good service that would do this even for a higher price?

Try one of the girls at VM who don't seem to be getting any business, like the ones standing on the stairs on the side of Rua Ceará opposite the catacombs. In my estimate, if they'll stand down there all night hoping to score R$20 or whatever their actual takehome is for a session; they'll probably clean your place for no more than twice that. Seriously..

I see a bunch of crazy talk below, I must say, 'wow'...Do Brasileiras make good wives for Americans to take home? Haha. It's like watching an 80's horror movie, the general plot and the outcomes are well-known to all, but the people still go through that door or turn that corner? I wonder what it would be like turned in reverse, with people coming to America to find American wives. Everyone bashes Americanas, but if someone can't find a mate in the diversity of the US, going abroad to a country with a different language is not going to help.

You are truly living up to your name. There are many terrific American women. I find the US women that are most difficult have been f'd over by dickweed guys. Not every US woman gets infected by the culture of the Kardasians, Real Housewives of NJ and shop til you drop.

Well I live in NJ unfortunately. I don't hang out with "Housewives of NJ" type of men or women. The men that I know are either divorced (not from cheating or abusing their wives) or living sexless miserable lives where they basically have to give in to whatever their wives want for fear of getting divorced and having to live like a pauper.

When I said that US women are infected with the US culture, of course you are right by saying that not all of them are. I prefer not to lose half my money trying to pick the few good needles in a haystack. To each his own, but the odds are against it.

It is true that there is nothing worse than women. The problem in bringing a brazilian to the US is that they will be infected with american culture and become the american woman you were trying to avoid. The only way I know to avoid this is to move to Brazil and stay with the girl there.

I need a service to literally scrub the floors, walls, etc. of an apartment in Copa prior to the tenant taking possession.

Not a job for a day-maid as it requires thoroughly cleaning several rooms, bathrooms, walls, etc.

Anyone know a good service that would do this even for a higher price?

That depends on several factors. First of all, what is girls background. Is she from favs or is she high class girl. Life of these two extremes are enormous.

Also these things depends of your background and how do you see world in general.

First ask from yourself a few questions:

Do I tolerate people with less education than myself.
Do I want to support someone for rest of her life.
Do I stand the prejudice of my friends, co-workers, family, neighbours etc.
Do I have balls to go through the interracial relationship in general
