Well, due to a family emergency, I came back to Guate after a 3 yr hiatus.

Having spent most of my adult years in the US, reading the reports posted here has been quite enlightening and educational. As this was a completely unexpected trip, I have nearly no budget for fun of any kind, but I thought I give La Linea at least a quick look before trying my luck at finding a bargain elsewhere. It was a quick look in the middle of the afternoon, and it was a bit warm to be walking around, but I did see at least a couple of acceptable options from the menu. Unfortunately La Linea turns out to be a just few blocks away from a retired relative's place, so it is not very convenient in terms of being able to come and go as I please, as being spotted near La Linea would be difficult to comfortably explain away. (At least some of the massage places advertised in La Prensa are near shopping areas, so I could claim to be window shopping or something, but for la linea there is no such excuse.)

Are there any other options with a reasonably low price point? I don't need fancy, but I would like to keep things as cheap as possible and the massage places seem to start at around Q300 for full service.

I totally agree with everything you said. The only thing I wanted to add is that it may not be for everyone. One forum member I chatted with congratulated me for being able to get a hard on in a place like that. Everybody is different. I personally like la linea for bbbjs. summary.

la linea is a unique place. if you are near guatemala city, it is worth visiting for the experience. there is enough variety that you can find what you want.

looks: if you need a 9-1/2 to 10, don't come to la linea. but there are a few beautiful ladies and some adorable and / or cute ones.

attitude: some of the ladies are just prostitutes. they are at work at a sometimes undesirable job and they just want to finish so they can go home. yet, i met several friendly, nice, warm, loving ladies.

satisfaction: i had 3 favorites which i will designate k, e, and a. all of the 3 were a great sexual experience. all 3 fulfilled all my sexual, emotional and photographic needs.

overall: if you can't find what you want al la linea, you are much more demanding than i.

la linea.

la linea is an area of prostitution characterized by a series of adjacent rooms along an abandoned railroad track (line). la linea is in zona 1 of guatemala city and runs along the railroad track north of 10a calle between 13/14 avenida and 15 avenida. for a landmark, it is just across the street at the east end of the edeficio central de la pnc (the national civil police central building) on 10a calle. (by the way some of the pnc are good looking ladies and they look sexy in those black uniforms.)

the numerous doorways on the buildings along la linea usually lead to a small room where the ladies practice their trade. sometimes the doorway opens to a small hallway at the end of which there is a courtyard surrounded by rooms. for the ladies, there is an advantage to the courtyard arrangement. there is running water for them to take a shower.

i am guessing that there are 200 rooms with about 50% of them in use at any time during peak working hours (9:00a – 5:00p). i have seen ladies working at 6:00a. i don't know when most of the ladies go home, but i would not go to la linea after dark.

probably 3/4 of the ladies have a low desirability because of looks, weight, or age. but that still leaves a lot of nice ladies from which to choose. because of the sheer number of workers, you should be able to find something desirable, or that at least meets you needs. it may require some scouting around and asking questions, but to me is part of the fun.

two pictures of la linea are attached. you will not see people in these pictures because i took them at 6:00am. at any other time, i was afraid somebody that did not want their picture taken would leave me injured and minus a camera.

the first photo is from 10a calle, where la linea begins, looking northwest at the buildings on the west side of the track. the second photo is about 3/4 of the way down la linea looking northeast. the rooms directly ahead are on 8a calle where it runs into la linea.

negotiations.

most ladies start out by asking 30 to 100q ($4 to $13) for 15 minutes of straight sex. as far as i can tell, the initial price has little to do with their desirability as a sexual partner. twice, when i asked a lady: how much, she replied with how much will you pay. being relatively inexperienced with la linea, i did now want to play that game. i still don't like that form of negotiation, but if i were really hot for a lady, i would probably respond to that question with 50 to 75q.

you will, of course, pay for extras. a bbbj is about 60 to 100q. a photographic session, for the few ladies that will consent to having their picture taken is about 100q. several ladies suggested a tln. i was not interested and did not determine the price.

getting what you want.

if you are just looking for quick sexual relief, la linea should be perfect. if you have a variety of desires, you should still be able to find what you want. many of the extras, however, are not initially on the menu.

i discovered what i should have known intuitively. as you build a relationship with a lady she is more likely to give you what you want.

of my 3 favorites, e was so hot she satisfied all my desires the first time. with the 2 others, there was something i liked about them that kept me coming back. the more i returned the more the lady gave me. they may be selling their body, but they will not throw their soul at just anybody.

hustling for customers.

i was surprised, none of the ladies actively solicited business. if i wanted to talk business, i had to approach the lady. many just stand in their doorway. others wait in their room waiting for guys to look in. and don't feel bashful for looking in, all the guys do it.

one day as i was approaching 8a calle when it intersects la linea, a lady on 8a calle, pulled down her top to show me her breasts. that was the most actively i was solicited.

character.

the ladies i dealt with were honest. when it turned out that they were not offering what i wanted, my money was refunded. on about a third visit to one lady, i paid 200q for a bbbj which turned into a 69. when it was over, i offered 100q extra. she would not take because, as she said, i had paid enough already.

my ladies had character beyond trustworthiness. all had children and were concerned with their welfare. while i was there, both e and k took a day off to attend a parent-teacher meeting. a told me she would like me to meet her twins.

k mentioned that she did not have photos of her children. i offered to come to her house and take some pictures. she told me i did not want to come to her house because it was in a dangerous area filled with thieves.

well, there may have been one small lapse of character. one day, after our time together a offered me a marijuana cigarette. i declined. she said maybe someday before sex and put it away.

safety – murder at la linea.

on monday. 04 april, i had a date with k to bring over some prints of photos i had taken. when i arrived, there was a huge crowd surrounding 2 ambulances about 3 doors down from where k works. she was not there.

the next day, i went over and asked her where she had been. she replies, i left right after the murder. i learned that it was not a lady or customer that had been murdered, but a thief. i have no more details.

in spite of that, i never felt any fear for my safety. frequently, i had a camera bag. i always kept my hand on it for security, but never saw anyone even eying it.

how many customers.

i finally got a straight answer to a question i have asked before. i've only asked it of ladies i felt i have known. i asked k: how many guys do you have sex with a day. her answer only applies to la linea, but it is interesting.

after some hesitation her answer was: sometime 10, sometimes 5, sometimes 3. today you are the second. i can believe her answer for that day. it was about 1:00 in the afternoon and that windowless cubicle was like a sauna. it was so hot i had originally told her i did not want to have sex. only a fool would have had sex in that heat.

i also asked k, if a guy wanted to marry you, how much he would have to earn for him to be acceptable to you. her reply: you mean so i would be able to quit work, about 800q per week ($100 us per week). for comparison, a maid at the hotel where i was staying earns about 900q every 15 days ($240us pre month). k is not getting rich, but as i had guessed, there is some financial incentive to being a prostitute.

customer cleanliness.

one day, i asked e, do all the guys like to eat your pussy? her reply was: yes, they all do, but i don't let guatemalans do it, they are dirty.

one day when i was getting dressed after spending some time with a, she picked up one of my shoes and smelled it. then she bent over and smelled my arm pit. she looked at me, smiled and said: i don't like smelly guys.

i have never gone to la linea feeling dirty but have never gone out of my way to clean up first. i believe now, that i am more likely to get what i want if i clean up first and put on some cologne.

guys milling around.

on the initial trip over to la linea, i was surprised by the number of guys milling around or just standing there. they appeared to be mostly working class guys.

i watched for a while and realized many of them were just voyeurs. they would crane their neck to look at what was being displayed by the ladies. i even saw one guy trying to peek at the action going on behind a closed door. from my point of view, if i can't afford it, i am not going to stand around looking at it. it is, however, nice to know there are guys stranger than i.

sense of community.

differences between my 3 ladies.

Rey Sol restaurant on calle 11 just west of la sexta has a good vegetarian buffet from noon till 4:00 if you get tired of Los Cebollines and the pizza joints.

I ate at Rey Sol a few times. The food was great. Los cebollines had the best salsa I have ever tasted. They make it fresh upon your request. Hands down my favorite restaurant in zona 1.

I toured around GT recently and spent a couple nights in the capital. The beds at Hotel Spring weren't firm enough to suit my old back so I tried the Hotel Exel a few blocks closer to the bus stations. Good firm beds, clean, hot water, cable, fast wi-fi, no problem discretely entertaining guests, BUT bring your earplugs as there is a lot of street noise.

Rey Sol restaurant on calle 11 just west of la sexta has a good vegetarian buffet from noon till 4:00 if you get tired of Los Cebollines and the pizza joints. My evening entertainment is often a litro of Gallo / Cabro on the veranda outside my room with the laptop so I didn't miss the lack of clubs downtown after dark. There are a fair number of street girls in this area so thats an option as well.

La Linea was truly amazing from a voyeuristic sense. A couple hundred tin railroad shacks / cubicles with something of the female persuasion in each of them. Q35 will get you 15 minutes of quick mechanical service. It takes me longer to say Hello, so not a good personal fit but if you're young and in a hurry to bust a nut bone up on your bargaining skills and watch the Tijuana street girl cartoon to get a feel for the vibe.

Back from my second trip since December. Before reading this please refer to my older reports so you can have a better understanding of what I am talking about.

I cut my trip short to 2 weeks versus a month. As I sit here back in sex prison I believe I made the right choice. My time was spent mainly in guatemala city.

Why did I come back early?

As previously mentioned I was pretty much stuck in guatemala city. Even with pocket cameras my weight load didn't go down that much. Another obstacle was securing electronic equipment and leaving behind valuables at the hotel when I traveled. Did I mention a medication I bring needs refrigeration? I envy you guys who are flexible. I can't seem to get that down. I am more of a day tripper.

I was talked out of doing a trip to tecun uman via guatemala. A missionary recommended I base myself in a decent hotel in tapachula mexico and do TU as a day trip. It is located 30 minutes from tapachula. The reason is there are several hotels that are used for guys waiting to cross illegally "polleros / poy yair rose". I did locate a decent review for a hotel called " hotel don jose". From what I know it is a very tiny town so just ask for it. Be careful you don't wind up in the wrong hotel.

Towards the end of my trip the afternoon rains started coming in from 3pm until 6pm. Remember from my last reports I mentioned that the city shuts down at 8pm. There are some bars open but most are lucky to have a handful of people.

My final days were scheduled between 11am until 3pm. Afterwards I would sneak out to dinner and that would be it. Beer drinkers have a few choices but don't get too excited. The vibe is livelier in a graveyard.

If I wasn't going around the country staying a month in guatemala would have been very tedious. As it is I was only gone for two weeks but it felt like a lot longer.

I did however enjoy the time I had! I had all sorts of photography projects that took me all over the city. It was extremely fun to walk around with pocket cameras. I didn't miss a beat.

Observations:

La Linea had a shabbly line up. Another monger I met described it as "gross". Personally I stuck with 2 girls I knew from my last trip. They were on BBBJ patrol. Otherwise I noticed a lot of the doable ones were not around. I believe the Christmas season had a lot to do with it. Depending on tastes you could say there are maybe a handful of woman that would be useful to anyone here. And this is coming from artisttyp!

* Be careful if you go on sundays. There are no cops around and the possibility of getting jacked is extremely high.

I did a few sessions in those local s only strip clubs :

Pricing was a little different in each place. Most do 100Q for 15/20 minutes but at diamante club in mercado el guarda / trebol* I was quoted 120Q for 30 minutes. You give the money to the girl and she receives a ticket at the bar then you two walk upstairs.

I had a very good session with a nica at diamante club. I had a not so great sesssion at another one. These places were getting annoying to me. The music is extremely loud and there are waiters buzzing around everywhere. Girls will pretty much wait until you approach them. The proper way to do it is buy them a beer then discuss going to the room. I personally don't ficha fuck so I just said I was there for sex. When you go that route it will be hit or miss. You will have a short amount of time to talk to them before you go upstairs.

After a few attempts I was turned off to even trying. I am not a huge drinker. Wasn't worth my effort. The places around mercado el guarda were the most lively. Even in the day time. After going to the bars around campo de roodville (roosevelt) a few times I came to the conclusion that they were a graveyard. The one of the corner of 9a and san juan seemed to have better choices than the other places. There were only a handful of people there at 6pm when I would go.

I did do a pensiones girl for the first time in the mercado el guarda area. I felt better about using the ground floor hotels versus going upstairs into who knows what kind of situation. Be very careful here. It's about as gritty as it gets in guate. When it gets dark there are all sorts of unsavory characters lurking on the corners. The talent is of the low end SW kind but of course YMMV. Pricing is very similar to la linea depending on the girl and services. I did the standard 100Q for 30 minutes with BBBJ. That comes out to $13. Kudos to those of you who can do better.

I really liked the vibe at casa 13 calle A 10-57 zona 1. This is on civid's list. The vibe is very mellow. A very friendly madam opens the door and you sit in the waiting room. Then she present the girls to you. I paid 200Q for 30 minutes in very clean and comfortable surrounding. The girls in general are not beautiful but I found at least 3 doable. They do a pretty good job of pleasing the customer. I don't think bbbjs are offered here. I hope someone proves me wrong. The overall vibe here seems too formal for that. Please let us know otherwise if you go.

That was pretty much it with the girls for me. My consensus is that I still recommend guatemala city for budget mongering. I would have been here years ago if I had known about about it. After doing it for a total of 5 weeks since December it became tedious and uninteresting. The inability to see a movie or eat dinner past 8pm was extremely oppressing to me. Luckily I had an ipad and a good wifi signal.

If you stay in zona 10 you will have more food options until around 10pm. Personally I don't think that alone is worth staying there. You might as well be staying at an airport hotel in miami. The few bars in zona viva IMHO are worthless. You can stay at hotel royal palace in zona 1 and still be pampered with access to the real guatemala. Save your marriot points for another trip....just IMHO.

Corrections :

1. In my December trip report I mentioned an avenue called "martin" in zona 2/6. It is actually "marti" with an accent above the I to make it sound like "martee". It can sound like "marteen" depending who says it. Thank you "hor hay" for bringing that to my attention.

2. Campo de roosevelt in my opinion is better pronounced " Rood bill"/"roodville". It is roosevelt but for two trips now nobody I met pronounced it with the "evelt" sound. Maybe I just had a brain fart with it. Who knows.

I stand by the rest of the information I previously posted.

Next stop? I'd love to go back to Argentina but I think it's out of my budget at the moment. Does anybody think differently? Cali Colombia in August and maybe back to Tijuana in may or June. Anybody have any idea for me may / June? I have a month.

As some of you know I am an avid photographer. I go into barrios and other off beat places. Today I was pointed out to the police by a couple who saw me taking photos. I have the proper documents and I explained my intentions to the officers in spanish. No problems. However at one point they asked me to see my camera and some of the photos I took. Luckily I didn't have any smut photos. I don't things would have gone as well.

Riddle me this " what would have happened if they saw beaver shots?"

Sorry but I'm not into the smut photography thing. Kudos to guys who do it but I'd rather focus on other subject matters. Plus negotiating for photos on top of special services kills the mood for me.

Not to mention my arm was covered in blood from tripping over something while taking photos.

Yes absolutely prices can be as low as 35 quetzals. Normally that is for a standard session. Oral and posiciones. When you start asking for special services prices are all over the place. Usually 70-100 quetzals for 30 minutes is sufficient. I liked especially this girl's look and her slutty make up. It also was my first nut. I figured for an extra 50Q why argue. Everything was agreed upon before hand. I always negotiate before. When I put the money on the table she took out a special marker to check if my bills were counterfeit. I should have known then. Main issue is she used to work in the tourist zone. I should have ran when she told me. Oh well. I went with another girl and got what I wanted for 70Q. Live and learn.

Also worth mentioning is we were here during Christmas season. At first glance it seems if some
girls have disappeared. Don't know for sure.

Also, for someone with your experience, I'm surprised you did not come to an agreement before showing money. I expect to be following in your footsteps at the end of next month. Do you have any comments about making a selection at La Linea or avoiding problems there? Here is a picture of Erica from Nicaragua. She works at La Linea not too far in from 10a Calle.
