Yes your right on both counts.
The Admiral Premier is a bit difficult, unless you know where its is and know the turns.
But its very close to Chokchai Steakhouse. Taxi can either enter Soi 23, turn right after Indochine restaurant and turn first on the left, then Hotel is about 100 metres down on the right.
Alternatively, if travelling south towards Sukhumvit Road, in Soi Asoke, turn left after Bangkok Smile Dental clinic (7-eleven on Corner) about 400m before Sukhumvit Road, as though heading to ChokChai steak house, cross over Soi 23 turn right at the 2nd Soi after that (3rd Soi in all). Admiral Premier is then on the left.
Shown on Mick's Map (I think he first recommended it):

If booking ahead, I see Agoda has Admiral Premier as low as 1877 THB incl breakfast and internet (plus taxes& service) which will come to 2173 THB per night (taxes add a lot). That is really a good deal. In fact I might take it myself.
Unfortunately a few tours are now using Admiral Premier because its very good for the bargain prices, so sometimes its booked out or priced very high.
Good thing about Agoda, is you can cancel and get a refund of most of money, depending on giving them at least 24 hours notice. I have got refund before when I changed my mind.
GM is on special now I think for 2800 but doesn't include internet or breakfast, so upgrade to get those is going to add a bit. I would look at bringing my own internet card, or use internet tethering on an iphone with edge internet connection. Its not super fast, but I found an aircard with Edge quite acceptable for my use. Charge for one month of internet on a SIM card was about 1K, and less for shorter periods. May need to try for a floor not too high and not too low for best reception.
If book wotif superspecials, probably no refund for cancellation.
GM annoyed me because they charge so much for internet but you only get one connection. So if you wanted to use wifi on your iphone as well as notebook, bad luck, or buy two internets (ouch!)
We all should really refuse to stay at Hotels where internet is not included in the price.

Admiral Premier fits the bill nicely with 4 stars at about 2,500 baht with kitchenette and everything included (no Internet fees).
The girls do like the Grand Millennium with separate shower and tub, big mirrors, super comfortable beds, etc. Sometimes GM rooms are on the Wotif secret deal at good prices well under 3K.

It seems can't get Silq or Admiral Premier any longer for 2K, but for 2K price would recommend Livingstones (if don't mind creaky beds) , or Dawin, or Grand President, or maybe even Darjelling for under 2K.
Nic seems a little strange in that he wants to pay 4K plus for his room, but quibble over 200 Baht on the price of a massage.
My view is its best to have a moderate to good standard room at a good price, and keep the left over money to spend on girls. Girls will wonder why guys, tight with there money, will sometimes stay at expensive Hotels? What is the point to it? I only stay 5 star when the price is really good.
P. S. Can be a good idea to get an internet Aircard and plug in your top-up SIM, to avoid hotel internet charges or site blocking, if staying in Thailand for any length of time, or use internet tethering on your iphone.

Can't understand his comment "good for the price" (?) and then list a series of neagtive sides.
With regard of your price level I am sure Giotto will be happy to charge you 4k@LL if that makes you happy, LOL.
Stickers with stars are easily available at any stationery shop! .

Posts: 255Bad internet at Hotel Honey
I checked in at Honey Hotel, Sukhumvit soi 19, no 31. Today. Good hotel for the price and good location. Gf-friendly. I pay 900 for a room upstair, a / see but no fridge, and it smells old / shitty. The room downstair at the carpark is same type and cost 800. Then there are rooms from 1000 and upwards which are better with minibar and good air, I will move to one of them tomorrow. Then the wi-fi connection, first its not free, you have to pay for the time you use, secondly the net "Cyberpoint" blocks this forum! Totally horrible! I now have to sit at a restaurant nearby to access it.

[QUOTE=Chill Out; 1129316]One thing to note about Solo: it's not a mongers hotel, though it is girl friendly. There are couples, groups of girls travelling together, etc. These people are in the lobby checking their laptop in the evening. So if you are bit shy to take girls back to your room, keep that in mind.
Thanks. I appreciate that information as I am more respectful to the guests than shy about bringing girls back. I am glad I passed on Solo now.

I'm staying in Hotel Solo, recommended in the hotel thread. It's within 5 mins walking from Nana, my usual hunting ground. The hotel proves to be OK for the price. The wotif deal is gone so I'm paying 2, 200 a night. Not exactly cheap for Thailand. But the room does look fresh and stylish, the beddings are great, it's a classy mid-range place.

I also checked out the Majestic Grande which is next door. I didn't like their basic room (too cramped) but the Deluxe room is pretty nice, it's a corner room (double windows) , big bathroom. It's about 3, 000 a night but they have some discount if you stay for a week. I might go for that when I come back from Samui.

Been staying there a couple of times but I don't think I will again. To noisy rooms. All thoose sound comming from outside the doors, and through the walls. And last week the THAIMAN behind the desc, cheated me with the laundrybill (express when it was regular) and when I complained about this he just told me that we can take that some other time, I was checking out.

Its is gf and a couple of mins walk from Nana. 7-11 / family market nearby.
Excellent rooms decent cable wired internet, pool, reasonable food (only tried breakfasts)
Staff very friendly with me always remember my name etc.
Very well treated.
Not that expensive
Try latestays. Com and it coes in at 1800 baht a night.
The Majestic Grande is a more upper class establishment.
Friend of mine stays there as he has more money than sense.
But I know the people who own it the family that own the Majestic Tailors run both it and the Majestic Suites and they are honest hard working people who know how to run things and make very good suits for fat ba$tards like me.
Again late stays quote for this.
For a less expensive stay try ever rich inn just on sukhumvit between 3 and 5 where the freelancers all stand at the bus stop clean cheap definitely GF and has really big showers enough for me and at least 2 others with pleanty of space beds are ok King suite gets a window Queen gets a mirror behind a curtain but at under 1 K for this location its good value indian people who run it are very nice too
