The fact that we come to Thailand for sex makes us look like fools and losers in the eyes of many there and here. So I wouldn't be so proud of, say, NOT treating those bargirls like "girlfriends" because that doesn't change anything - we are still sex tourists coming to pay for sex. Once I saw her I though, wow, she's certainly quite good. The only problem was that while in bed she was an absolute, comeplete and 100% coldfish. I have never had a girl like that.
