Sorry to do this guys, as my response to similar requests in the Spanish Forum, where I am well aquainted, would be RTFF, but there is so much info here that I am battling to work out my best options, so some help would be gratefully received. I am in Rio for the first time for 4 days from 22nd April (over Easter) and hope that someone can recommend the best two clubs to me (similar, if possible, to the Estarks in Spain?). Not the most expensive please, hoping for about R$250 per hour or so?. Or streets that I should not miss and also if there is any SW action near Copacabana.

Finally, while I have a hotel reservation, it does not seem to be a great option and so I was hoping that someone could recommend an apartment or similar, again near Copacabana.

Any other advice or tips would be really great.

At the top level Termas you definitely need to screen them before dragging them to the room. If you pay top level prices you need to get top level service everytime. 1 red flag is passable. 2 red flags you really need to look for someone else. 3 red flags and you still take her to the cabine? Well. Kind of get what you deserve, but we live and learn (hopefully).

The cheaper places are a bit different, at R$80-R$120 you can take a chance. At the cheaper places you can actually work on them by seeing them a couple of times if necessary. Once they know and like you the service gets way better. A girl I saw a few months ago gave crap service the first 2 times. The third time it was like a switch was flicked, unbelievable service! Then it just kept getting better until of course it was time to move on. For me that is how I work the cheaper places, I do repeats until the service hits a peak and then starts to fall off or your find someone else to replace her. The cheaper places are much more repeat customer type of places to get that top level of service.

Rio Day 1 and 2.

I had been on a business trip to Sao Paulo for a brutally long week with me getting up at 6:00 am every morning. I attempted to use what little I had left over in the energy to locate a babe or two in Sao Paulo at the end of the long days. But alas all that search was to be in vain. Almost everything over there is far and very spread out. As one can imagine I was pretty wound up with all that window shopping and such. God I needed a brazilara! So me, my money and a TAM ticket later I arrive in Rio on Saturday. I had done my homework preceeding to coming here and had found a place about 5 min from LUMO and 10 minutes from Monte Carlo. I had landed in RIO at terminal 2 and started my search for the generio ATM. All of the ATM at this terminal were useless. Had I read Mr. Bubba's report I would have automatically been led to floor 3 Terminal 1 where the Banco ATM waited for me. Lesson learned I won't make that mistake again. In my opinion the ATM in Terminal 2 are an idiot box for the naive foreigner as they pretend to perform the transaction and right at the end tell you that it is not possible. What a TEASE!

I took the REAL bus for $8. 00 from GIG to JW Mariott and then walked over to my apartment. A trek of about 15 min with 50 lb luggage and with inquiring eyes sizing me up. Interesting experience indeed! Fortunately the road was a busy one and there was still daylight. I took pleasure in the satisfaction of robing the Taxi man instead of the other way. I arrived at about 6:30 PM, right after dusk.

As I was pretty beat I decided to call it a night and do my hunting on the next day. Well it turns out to be a Sunday and there was absolutely very little open. The weather outside sucked with rain coming off and on. Whats up with that? With the exception of LUMO nothing else was open. I took the Metro to scout out 4x4 in centro while waiting for LUMO to open. Even in the afternoon, this area was creating tension as it looked like one of those science fiction movie stage sets where the whole city has been abandoned. I can only imagine what happens at night! It was now 4:30 pm and Mecca, I mean LUMO, had finally opened. After taking a nap I ventured into the place. Having been to the World etc in the Fatherland I found this to be, well, a little on the smaller scale. But man did it make up on the Babe scale. Nines and 8's were all over the place. I don't think I saw a single 7 or less. Candy, Candy, Candy. Whoooo. This was my first thought. I tried to use the hang around for a while and then make a decision strategy, but this startegy really goes no where when the main room is no bigger then my apartment and there is nowhere to chill. What little sitting place there is has other guest on it already. Hot music and even hotter babes with you in middle is the order of the day here. After about 20 min of watching the young brazilaras dance I got approached by Franchesca. Wearing a turqoise outfit and then telling me what she had underneath was all real caught my attention in a hurry. I only have so much resistance and this is futile in a place like this. She asked me to buy her a drink to which I said okay. According to Mr. Bubba this should have been a red flag right at the onset. But this hot 8. 5 was all over me with promises to CIM and CIA etc. Such langauge! Phew! Resistance was futile. Another red flag I missed was that she would not kiss on the lips. Healthy as it may be, Mr. Bubba has it right, it does mean less passion as BBBJ would probably off the table. But I reasoned there were promises that were being made in earnest. I was wrong as the Cabinee produced a bit of mechanical CBJ leading to a HJTC when junior did not get what was expected. Thinking back, I believe I would have been in a different plane had this girl done what was promised. But how do you demand what was not granted? Man was this girl naturally hot! I told her I was staying nearby and she asked me if I would comeback. To which I replied, I really do not know. My disappointment must have been obivious as she told me not to hang low as I was quite handsome. Coming from her after the fact I think she must have meant it. That meant something to me. Perhaps a positive shot to the ego. Oh well onward to Monte Carlo on Monday.

I wouldn't agree that it is just Zona Sul that goes quiet in Winter. I remember the hottest girls at 502 were literally standing around doing nothing up until late November. They were really busy through Carnaval but now again they are struggling for business. People have less money after Christmas and Carnaval and of course there are way less tourists now.

Centro also is very reliant on the weeks in the month. For example, by law, Brazilians get paid in the first week of the month. Hence Centro gets busy in the first week, particularly Thursday and Friday. As the weeks go by and we get closer to the end of the month it gets very quiet as everyone has spent their cash.

I will avoid centro this week just for that reason.

I agree with this, as it relates to Zona Sul, but wouldn't you say Centro and VM supply and demand are fairly constant?

I recommend it too, although other people talk a lot of shit about Balcony, skanks, dogs, etc. Maybe my standards are low from too much time in budget places in Centro, but I feel that there are some nice girls at Balcony if you work the crowd. My idea of a good night is riding the metro to Centro, hitting T502, coming back to Copa before the metro closes and grabbing TLN from Balcony. When mongering Brasil, I'm 90% a fast foda guy that likes casas and low tier termas with some degree of standardized services. But last time I branched out with the other 10% and hit Balcony a couple times and found the uncertainty enjoyable in a masochistic kind of way, I guess. Next time, I'm lodging in Copa so I can work Balcony more. Never know what you might get, its fun to take a girl from there just for the adventure once you've already busted once or twice earlier in the day. In the casas and termas, I never risk getting a starfish, but on the other hand I rarely get an outstanding totally-uninhibited natural lay. Just 2 out of about 50 Brasileiras that I've done in casas/termas/etc. really provided mind-blowing uninhibited sex. Others were anywhere from boring to over-the-top nasty gonzo porn actress-style. I feel the chances for something really memorable are better at Balcony.

I apologize for this comment in advance (well, not really). One of the reasons I spend time in Brazil is to get away from Americans. I enjoy being there when they aren't. I also find that I enjoy Rio more in areas of the city where they do not frequent often. A lot of the after Carnaval exodus is not GDPs going to Europe, it is GDPs going home to other parts of Brazil.

I became friendly with a girl I met at MC late February. We have became pen pals. She left for Italy mid March. I know that at least one other poster said his favorite from MC was leaving for Italy in March (I PM'd him and it was not the same girl.) Is there some mass exodus that happens in March for Europe? If so this is too bad as the place was hoppin when I visited late Feb *the night after you were there). If this is so where should we go? Maybe your better off sitting outside the balconi waiting for a keeper?

Yes many girls but not all thank God will go to Europe after the summer season is over in Rio. Usually they start to filter out right after Caranval. A week or 2 after Carnaval and you can see them leaving.

Then about the middle of November or so they start coming back some before and some after. They come in from Europe and all over Brazil and by 2 or 3 weeks before Carnaval Rio is packed with working GDP's looking for your money.

This is why IMHO the best time to take a vacation in Rio is about 2 weeks before Carnaval when it's packed with GDP's and not all the Carnaval tourists have arrived yet.

So most of you who follow my occasional posts know that the Cartman is not necessarily a meanspirited bastard all of the time. But what the frak is up with Monte Carlo this week? (And to be honest it was a 12 day hiatus for me before returning on Wed). It's like they shit-canned half the girls, but kept the fat ugly ones and then decided to get more of them. I've seen 2. Literally. FAT, short, ugly chicks and a ton of bigger fattie mc fatties. Trust me guys, when Terma girls are squeezed into corsets, it's not a good sign of things to come.

Sure there may be 1-2 doable chicks left, but it's slim pickins. Reports from all around (Bubba, etc.) have been not good on most places, though I hear 502 picked up a new reasonable crop.

Hm, perhaps I will test L'Uomo tomorrow.

I was JUST reading an article on the Pedra yesterday at work. It looks amazing however the website said its best to go with a guide because people die every year trying to climb up the pedra without ropes and equipment. I wouldn't have a problem going up, but coming down would scare me to death!

It's just about impossible to get lost on the way up. The trail is very well marked. At the beginning of the trail there are guards that will note the names and mobile number of everybody going up. That way they will know if anybody is missing.

The only dangerous part of the trail is the carrasqueira where you will have to do a little bit of crack climbing. If you take it calm you'll have no problem at all (there are some iron in the rock on the top of the carrasqueira where you can fix a rope, but I didn't see anybody using them). My GF climbed the carrasqueira fast like a mountain goat. When going down the carrasqueira you better don't look down if you are afraid of heights.

Besides maybe helping you to climb the carrasqueira there is really no use at all for a guide. I guess the people who dies climbing the Pedra the Gávea are using a more difficult route, or being clumsy falling down a cliff.

Good shoes, water, mobile phone and a camera, that's what you'll need.

If you're ready to burn some calories: climb Pedra the Gávea.

Take a bus out to Pasarela in Barra and head up the mountain. 1 1/2 h later you'll be up on he top of Pedra the Gávea.

The views are just fantastic!

Note: The trail is scaled 5, on a note of 1-5 on dificulidade. If you suffer from afraid of heights forget about of it.

As an aide, this is becoming a very expensive hobby. The USD hit R$1. 59 today at one point in trading. I think it settle back at R$1. 62. That means my hour visit with an OK but not awesome chick at MC was US$280 (including my caipirinha). The only thing saving this is the free-entrance with registration (when you spend enough) , which probably averages things back down to US$250.

Wish I had more time to hit prives. The privates are where it's at.
