puerto plata is more laid back but lacks the convenience of sosua for newbies where all is concentrated within one square mile.

But I do read the two main monger boards covering the town, and have friends actually living there whom I speak to most days, so I can get a consensus assessment which is better than just one man's opinion. My assessment is that all the doom and gloom is wildly exaggerrated and that newbies will still have a great time (unless they fuck it up for themselves).

But that is now. What the near future will bring I have no idea. There are all sorts of conspiracy theories. And if there is a marked change in policy or police procedures overnight, I will be the last to know.

I personally don't like that other site and very rarely do I read that site. There are people on that other site who are highly anti-mongering and they may write stuff that benefits their personal agenda.
