The Batam forum is dead, is there not anything going on after Ramadan? Planned to visit but got leave only during Ramadan, didn't want to get into any trouble with the authorities and didn't want girl selection to be limited, so decided to go to Pattaya this time around.

Meanwhile since nobody is posting, I will share old experience of Batam which may be little relevant since one was around 4 mths ago, one 7 mths ago. I was not a member of this forum then.

Discotheques :

I found Planet and Newton were the best for picking up freelancers, apart from these, only tried Pacific, but found too many old, hardened ladies. In case of Planet, the security guy can find a girl for you as he knows who's available (for a small fee ofcourse).

Hotels:

I stayed at 4 hotels in all, Novotel, Panorama Regency, Goodway, Swiss Belhotel, out of which my favourite was Panorama. The nightclubs at Novotel and Panorama had live bands, tried to pick up the 2 hot waitresses at the Novotel nightclub but they didn't agree to go out. Panorama has a karaoke, quite expensive, good women. Swiss Belhotel has few good women, took one when I was staying there. However, rooms are small, no wi-fi in room and the noise from the karaoke is too loud incase you plan to sleep early. Goodway hotel is little away from the nightlife action (near Nagoya Hill mall). Fairly nice hotel, less tourists and more Indonesians. All the above have a swimming pool and gym.

Massage places:

Best in my opinion were 82 and Indah 2, also picked up from Berry Indah and Permata Indah. A girl called Eno deserves special mention in 82, not sure if she works there still, expensive (1. 2 mln) , but well worth it, had her for 3 nights. Newton massage is not recommended, all the hot girls work in the Karaoke, karaoke girls at Newton are expensive (1. 6 mln).

Others:

Had a friend who worked in Nagoya Hill mall, he knew some salesgirls who were available, did 3 of them, even took one to Bali with me. Was paying him a small fee, plus drinks and cigarettes, however he tried to cheat me once, and I didn't see him again, although he called several times to apologise. Also got friendly on the last day with a lady called Rida, who works at M1 entertainment, near the harbourfont. Did her on the last day (she's divorced with a kid) , she promised to introduce me to her younger colleagues next time, so will call her next time if she's still around. Also visited the bar at I-hotel, some nice ladies, but the guests are mainly high roller Chinese, the music too is Chinese and the girls are extremely expensive (around 2 mln).

Will post anything else useful if I remember, meanwhile somebody please send us a recent report.

I am hoping a few of you might be able to point me in the right direction.

Looking to escape Singapore for a few days, don't want too much hassle, just a nice hotel with a pool to kick back by and a bit of company, are there any options in Bintan or is Batam my best bet. From all the reports Batam sounds like it has the variety but I am looking for something a bit up market and quiet but still with the option of grabbing a bit of company when the urge strikes.

I would appreciate any advice.

did you ever realise that its really quite easy to peel these indonesian visa stickers off the passport. i tried it first some time back to see what would happen, and the good immigration folk in hong kong happily stamped in the free space and so did philippines. i then took another couple of stickers off that also eventually got stamped. as long as there is at least one indonesian stamp no one in jakarta seemed to have a problem with the missing stickers. i did the same for the cambodian visa sticker and now i have enough space to at least last another year or so without need for passport renewal.

Actually, I don't have much more left to report, except some brief notes and highlights.

On my last stay, the best places where I met the best girls have been NoName, Newton and the Nagoya Hill mall.

NO NAME
In my opinion, this is the best place to meet good high-end girls, who may be not strictly WGs or even total good girls who just like to meet a bule. There is an outstanding band from Jakarta, who plays good music. You can dance and have a good time.
A good mix of people: some bar girls after their bars have closes, some regular girl who goes there to hunt, some group of friends where some girl may like to meet a bule.
The problem is that this is well known to everybody. On Saturday night, there might be also 10-15 bule dancing and sweeping all nice looking girls! I hate competition.
After my Episode 1, I met the sexy girl other 2 times. She insisted to bring a girlfriend, but the night did not turn as nice as I hoped :P

The largest disco in Batam. It is big enough to allow you to roam around without being pressed in the crowd.

Located in the Pacific Hotel, that is one of the oddest buildings I ever saw in my life. Find a photo with Google and you understand: a huge construction resembling a cruise ship.

Every night at 2am there is the show of dancers on the stage. Disappointingly, the show seems always the same. The girls too are still the same after my previous visit in May. Boring, after the first 2-3 times you see it. Girls look very sexy seen from far, but if you approach the stage then you see that almost all of them are quite sleazy. Their face has nothing of the sweetness we like in Indonesian girls.

Best time to go to Pacific is after 2am. Temperature raises, more people comes, also bar girls go out from their places when they close and go there to dance, etc.

In Pacific, there is anything: from hardcore pros to regular girls who are there only to get crazy with music and E. It is actually the disco with the highest number of hardcore WGs. If you are bule like me, they can be very annoying, because some of them will chase you all around, pulling your hand, etc. Etc. Warning: those WGs are definitely low-end, not so pretty as countless options in Batam, and are also the ones with highest ratio of 'AliBaba'

Girls from discoes try to ask the bule up to 500k, but can be negotiated down to 200k-300k without too much effort (it's a buyer market). I am not sure if it is a good idea to bring back to your room those girls. Only in some selected cases.

Located at the Newton Hotel. Commonly ranked as disco #2 in Batam. Might be a better option: smaller and more packed.

PLANET

Located at the Planet Hotel (surprised? ). Commonly ranked as disco #3 in Batam. It is actually more seedy than others.

LADY HOUSES

They are just plain brothels. I visited 2 of them, located close to Nagoya. Sorry, but I cannot remember the exact location. Maybe, one is in Jodoh and the other not far from Bazar Indu. The way to find them is asking a good ojek driver.

They look the same: old house, door in a small alley. 3 floors with poor dingy rooms where girls sleep or sit waiting customers. Girls are not comparable to those in massage joints. 50k for short time or 400k for booking.

I just came back from Btm today after a 1 nite stay at Triniti hotel.

Initinally was thinkin of cancel the trip after hearing the ill encounter happened on bro WS, but decided to proceed since the hotel has been booked online. I've booked a cwk frm 82 for the nite, and I was lucky that the journey ended safe and sound. However, thanks for all the vateran's sharing on your ecounters (be it good or bad) , I've bring up my caution level by keeping all the travel docs and my wallet (with backup cash) in the safety box (which I did not do it on my previous visits.)

In my point of view, the stealing case might just happen anytime (even non-ramadhan period) , eventhough we can't eliminate the risk, as long as we're applyin some safety measure, it will greatly minimize the damage in case the shit did happen on us.

Actually around this time of the mth I. E. Ramadhan, I avoid going Btm. Main reasons are the cewks would be asking uang / tips for festive expenditure. Can be quite irritating.

As for "thefts", it can happen any time of the year. Can be fm any joints. Low crime doesn't mean No Crimes. High risks are fm freelances, imo. Bonk at your own risk ya.

I did not have the time to say everything and make a day-by-day report, as I tried in my first 2 days. Too bad. I like to write a diary of adventures, mainly for my future memory. Just a few highlights.

By the way, do you ever think that one day this ISG fantastic repository of information and travel reports will disappear? I wish somebody could take a backup of the entire site (Mr Google does it, but to use that backup copy?) , just to avoid to see everything lost is Jackson get tired of this job.

In this report, I try to summarize my impressions and best highlights of my last visit to Batam (July 2011).

MASSAGE JOINTS?

This time, I must say that I changed completely my past strategy. No more advance bookings in the morning, to get the best girls, and pick-up at 8pm for dinner and night fun. Forget Indah2, Berry Indah, Memory. 82, etc. etc.

Maybe I missed some gem from joints, but I really could not afford anymore sleeping with a girl at midnight, while my mind goes to what may be happening at the same time in NoName or Newton.
This time, I totally switched to FREELANCE GIRLS and I've been very happy with this new strategy!!! (with some outstanding result, I must point out).

In my 5 days in Batam on July, I visited all massage joints just to see what was there, but I took only 1 nice girl from Indah2 the last day, to fill the hours before my ferry of 5pm back to Singapore. One important note: Indah2 has changed location and management, after my last visit to Batam. Several ojek drivers do not know it yet and will take you to the old location.

I visited Pacific 3-4 times in these 5 days. I must say that I like the place and the music. It is big enough to allow you to roam around without being pressed in the crowd. Sorry, but E is not my fun. It was difficult to convince her that I did not want to try E, even kindly offered by her. I am now seeing the episode on a different perspective. These girls:
- sign a contract in their home town to work in Batam in the joint for 6 months (they know the kind of job, or so they all told me)
- earn about 1/3 of what we pay at the joint, or less (that is, a 600k-girl for each booking receives 200k, about 15 EUR, or less; a low-end 300k girl gets half of that!)
- are booked about 3-4 times a week (the above 600k-girl earns therefore 45 EUR per week)
- may add some short-times, but few ones every week, plus tips (I see many gentlemen here do recommend to not leave more than 100k) ;
- by contract, have also to pay some significant money to refund the agents of travel expenses to Batam.

In summary, try to estimate how much money a girl has been able to save at the end of her 6 months in Batam.

Now, imagine one of these girls at the end of the 6 months contracted (August and Ramadan is a typical time to end contracts in Batam) in a hotel room, with the man sleeping hard, a noteboook, hundreds of S$ in cash, etc. etc. and the door open. The temptation to steal as much as possible, disappear somewhere and escape from her agents in the massage joint must be very strong. She is watching maybe more money than she could save in all those months of hard work in Batam!

I am no expert of Batam but if the trend is similar to other cities in Indonesia, the p4p trade on the last week of Ramadan is the slowest. This is because the girls will have started making their way homeward. Further the last 7 days of Ramadan is considered the holist & the authorities might be extra vigilant to prevent vice.

So rather than risking being a Lone Ranger in Batam, why don't just stay in Singapore and visit Gelang?

- is it good time to go there during last 7-10 days of Ramadan.

- As its a short trip and my first to batam. What places. Hotels, MP, FL areas, Bars are the best for fun and pic-up a local hottie'.

Did consider taking along a regular from Sg, just in case there are surprises, but with much being said here. Good sense says I shud taste some local fruit too in Batam. And I would have done her a few days already, so change will be good too. .
