I walked between Shinchon Subway Station and Ewha Subway Station on both sides of the street without finding one of those establishments (my Korean is fine and I have seen similar signs for years). Was it perhaps between Sinchon RAILWAY station and Ehwa Subway Station?

Heading from Sinchon subway (Exit 4?) towards Ewha subway, on an alley to your left, not far from the main road, are 2 'barber poles' but with "love and stars". Could be that place. It is closer to Sinchon than Ewha (Less than 50m from Sinchon I think). Going to try this at the end of the month.

Tried the place across Bobo again but got the same lady so nothing much to write about. Wanted to try someone else but I think they only a couple of girls working. Should have explored.

By the end of the year the hootches on the lots from Tiger Tavern up to and including ABC on the north side of the Hill will be demolished and construction will begin on an officetel complex w / an underground parking garage. I daresay this is the death-knell for the Hill.

In related news, Mi-hae, Yu-ri, Min-hee and one other from ING are now relocated in Shamrock, around the corner at the top of the Hill.

I am committed to providing maps with any place I report on, and to tracking down some reports of distinction and piecing them together with maps. Thanks already to JohnnyCanuck for helping me find where his DBP place was.

It is surprising how few reports I have been able to find about anything near the City Hall area. Yes, there is the Koreana. I went there once a few years ago on a Saturday, and was given a good (but expensive) legit massage by a bulky 40-something ajumma. I don't know if this will be much good except to someone who stays at the Ramada Hotel (unless someone else recognizes and can identify where I was).

Anyway, I was in Seoul for a couple of days suffering from the effects of travellers sickness in Qingdao. I was staying at Ramada Hotel (112-5 Samsung-dong, Kangnam-ku). During a stroll back to the hotel after dinner at the seafood buffet at the COEX (highly recommended) I spotted the telltale barber poles. 3 of them in fact. There were 2 separate locations. I went downstairs through the closest door and when I got to the bottom mamasan stared waving her hands and shaking her head. I definitely got the message that whites weren't allowed.
