Sounded to me like your report confirmed that it was a wasteland. Bad quality, not much available (and I can also tell you that even if you did take a girl, chances are about 90% that the service will be abominable). I had some action in Buriram years ago, but in all my visits it has never been 'good'.

I do like traveling around on the third class train and staying in those 120-200 baht / night hotels, just for the adventure of it, but the P4P you find in such places is not interesting.

this might be old news to many of you as i have not taken the time to read any of the reports in this section.

the last time i saw nahkon phanom was roughly may 1, 1968 finishing a 4 month tdy at nkp. at that time, the road to town from the air base was just red dirt and the town itself was about 10, 000 people estimated. there was only 1 car in the town, the local taxi and all other transportation was by bus or predominantly samlor for 1 baht. my first trip into town ended at johnny's bungalow where a short time of 2 to 3 hours was 40 baht; at that time the exchange rate was a fixed 20 baht to the dollar.

Went thru Udon on the way to Udomxay, Laos. I am running out of pristine hunting grounds. Udon was worse with every trip. I think the best time late 90's is forever gone. I think your experience will be different if you can speak their language. I have never been rushed out and in fact most of the ladies I have been with want to spend more time with me. This is how it really works on Soi Fai Dang. You pay for time 300 baht for 30 mins. If you get rushed its because she feels uncomfortable with you and just wants to get you out. Ventured up to UT with 3 others from our base in Roi Et for a 2 nighter last Thursday and Friday.

Booked into the Top Mansion. 370 THB a night going upto 390 THB next week from 01 Nov.
