I am making my virgin trip to Batam in October (also hitting Jakarta, Singapore and Thailand – I know LOS real well). I want to know from you Batam guys where the best place to stay is. It is a given that I want to be close to the action, but I would also like a good hotel with a decent swimming pool if possible. Based on my own research and tips from the forum, I have narrowed down the search to the Harmoni Hotel ($61 / night Agoda) and the Formosa Hotel ($46 / night Agoda). I know the Harmoni Hotel has a pool, the No Name Club on premises and the "Kampung Bule" directly behind the hotel, so I am leaning Harmoni. I will be arriving by ferry from Singapore on a Sunday and departing Friday so I should have a good time.

Beside Harmoni Hotel and Formosa Hotel, I also suggest Swiss BelInn hotel with cheaper price, swimming pool, nice staffs.

But if living at Swiss BelInn hotel, you need a driver because the hotel is not located at the center of the city.

No Name is a great club for drinking (however is expensive) and listening to a great band. After 1am Friday and Saturday the place burst with plenty of patrons. Many are normal office working girls. From previous reports you can pick them up, well you have to be good looking or talker or etc. Give them a tips of 200k will be happy. If negotiate for price between 400 and 1m up to you as massage place is between that long time.

I totally agree with first statements, but I need to comment the last ones.

I had various lovely girls for FREE after meeting at NoName (except the big money spent in drinks: sure, if you are short of money, you better stick to massage joints).

If they are normal office girls, they could (and would) be OFFENDED. I never offer money, unless I am not requested. A regular girl does not like to be treated as a prostitute. Try to offer to pay the taxi (200k) , but in the morning. She will accept, because you as foreigner are seen as infinitely rich.

Well, I don't understand this sentence, but if the negotiate a price above 400k they are definitely bar girls, or girls who have a different job but go to NoName on Saturday for extra cash (one of them is lovely though: I was falling in love)

By the way, in the massage / karaoke, the long time ratye is for 3 times. If you gentlement treat them nice maybe 4 times. I had a great time with a GFE for 4 times and I tips her 250k. So altogether with tips I paid 650K, is well worth and great GFE.

No contractual specifications, but it depends on:
- how big is your didi;
- how nicely you treat the girl.

You don't buy a toy: you book a girlfriend, who will be nice with you as much as you are with her.
(well, sometimes this does not happen, but it's part of the game)

PS: if your performance power is 1 F/h (guess what the measurement unit F stands for) and you plan to book a girl from 12am to 8am next day, then no matter how nice you are: you better book a plastic doll.

I am no expert concerning Batam but have had several trips there for R&R. In short, my take on Batam in comparison to Jakarta or other larger cities in Indonesia are:

(1) Batam is basically an industrial island where many Singaporean and overseas manufacturing businesses are based. As such, there are many girls (aka cewek) & boys (aka cowok) coming from all parts of Indonesia to work in these businesses as the pay they received is definitely higher than what they can get back in their smaller towns or villages. Given this fact, naturally you will get many cewek who moonlight as FL to get more income. As such you can normally find these cewek in the various discos around the island and they do not dressed (to kill) as much as their sisters in Jakarta.

(2) Given its close proximity to Singapore & Malaysia (Johor) it is only natural that Batam become the "adult disneyland" for the hot blooded males from both places. Since the demand is great the sex industry naturally blossom on the island and as a result many "ktvs" (brothels) emerged to cater for this market. As a new monger to Batam, the normal advise is that you take the girls from such establishments to prevent any disappointment as if the cewek is a "runner" or "non-performer" you have a point-of-reference to make your complaint (as opposed to FL). Also the prices in such establishments are quite standard (please check the forum for the average pricing). Unlike Jakarta (with its 13 million population) the "red light district" in Batam is concentrated on the Nagoya & Jodoh areas.

(3) Having abundant clienteles from Singapore, Malaysia & ex-pats from the oil & gas + manufacturing industries in Batam (higher spending power) the F&B pricing in Batam is not cheap. In this instance the pricing of some items are comparable to Jakarta pricing.

(4) The girls in Batam can be categorized as:

(i)"Fresh from the Farm" type which are normally "kept" by some Singaporean or Malaysian after a short period working in the industry (semi-full time) ;

(ii)"Reasonably Fresh" type who had done a few years in Tanjung Balai Karimun (full time) ;

(iii)"Re-cycle Fresh" type who had done their trade in Jakarta or other larger cities for 4-5 years and due to age have migrated to Batam to continue their trade (full time) ;

(iv)"MILF" type who are normally in their 30s and above who work in the various pubs located around Batam (full time) ; and.

(v)"Factory" type who work in the various manufacturing places and venture occasionally into this business to earn extra monies (part time / FL).

As such, you cannot compare Jakarta to Batam because each have its own uniqueness. Just enjoy Batam for what it is (a short getaway place for some mongering and relaxation) without worrying about the ladies being sophisticated. If you want a social escort type of ladies than I would suggest you stick to Jakarta. Than again even in Jakarta you can find high class to bargain basement types of ladies. As such the choice is yours as the money belongs to you.

First let me thanks all brothers in this forum that make my initial trip possible. I am here to contribute back. My first trip I took a taxi from Batam center. Is about 50k or USD5. However, it includes taking you to find a hotel and massage place to pick up your lady. The lady cost now is 400k to 800k and also been quoted 1m for their new, young lady. CNY price go up another 100k. In USD is about USD40 to 100. Recommend pick up a card at the massage place and next time you walk in will save you 50 to 100k. It doesn't mean 400k will get you a bad lady. Basicly, they are perhaps have baby and a few months in business. I have a 400k lady that give excellent GFE. I stayed at the Nagoya 68 hotel. It is cheap at 110k but clean and nice location. Near kampong Bule the hotel is Batam Star at 140k. Obviously they are more expensive hotel but I am a budget traveller. A midrange hotel that is good and location is great is Lovina Inn. Just opposite of Formosa, it is very clean and new and for 200k is good value. Hope this helps and happy hunting.
