    Changping Update (10/02/12)

Hui Hua KTV has raised the price for its Hostesses recently.

    Hostess Category (Old Price):
    2•6•9/3•6•9/3•7•11

    Hostess Category (New Price):
    3•6•9/3•7•10/3•8•12

I foresee 2012 may be the year whereby sitting fee of ¥200 will go into extinction in CP KTVs.
The KTV sitting fee in a lot of bigger cities already starts from ¥300.

No! There is! The shrimp fishing place will open again this week. It's at the end of the alley opposite the park in front of Mito's.

    Dragon,

Yeah all my sage like advice will save them from this cruel business they choose to be in? When I was 21, I didn't listen to anyone.

I have been to KTVs in many places and you do find one or 2 that there is a special connection with. Proimse them Iphones, nah, they just come out and ask for them now LOL.

You CAN still GET SMS and Turn OFF your Data Roaming. The Iphone allows you to turn data roaming off, so that the only thing that's ON is your Phone and your SMS. It costs you nothing unless you forget an answer a phone call while in China. Your DATA doesn't get charged from HK because you'd turn OFF your data. In short, you can GET all your SMS's on your phone. And not be charged data. In fact, if you're at home, you CAN still use WIFI to get DATA and turn THAT on, but just turn ROAMING OFF, so that at least while at Wifi Hotspots, you can use your iphone.

    -Jett
    Hey Jett. THANKS!

You are absolutely correct. I've gone back to the "3" shop and found out that what the first guy told me was totally wrong!

SMS's get sent out via a different channel / band and is not at all dependent on the Data band.

So I will still be able to get my SMS in China even when I turn off the data roaming.

    Thanks!

Look forward to seeing you and the rest of the gang!

    BSDave & CP newbies

    Greetings Everyone & Happy CNY,

I'm here reporting (for the first time) because of the recent topic and I owe Dave this long overdue post. I was in CP last Oct / Nov for almost 3wks. To "play" was not the purpose of my trip (from the US) but I had the time and became aware of the opportunities from this forum just a couple weeks before my departure. It was really just coincidence that I have ties to CP and had to be there. That said, everything else was completely new to me and I was traveling alone. Although I know HK well, I hadn't stepped foot in China in 10+ yrs. I had no idea how my personal business trip / vacation was going to turn out at the time.

Well. I can say here now that it was the most amazing and enjoyable trip I've ever taken alone in my life. From beginning to end it was an easy, fun, and incredible experience all because I contacted Dave. Getting in touch with him at the beginning of my visit was the single best and smartest thing I did, period! He knows the town like the back of his hand, is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, is very easy-going, and genuinely looks out for your safety. What more could you freakin' ask for? (He even helped me call a BBS girl one time, because my Mandarin sucks, and had her outside my room in less than 30mins. Talk about Dominos Pussy delivery!) But all that aside, Dave was just a great person to know and hang out with. And everyone I met thru him was down to earth and really cool too. Because I learned, that's just the type of person he is and that's the type of people that will naturally gravitate to his circle.

I sampled pretty much all the major services during my stay: BBS, Sauna, KTV. Some multiple times, and I can't say I had a poor experience once. In fact, most of the time it was fantastic! I even went on a normal date with a civilian. (I worked my Cantonese and limited Mandarin to the max, and I'm a quick learner.) The young ladies of South China are slim, beautiful, and everywhere you look in CP. Its simply staggering. My trip was perfect in so many ways. Everything seemed to just casually fall into place, as if I had some unexplainable streak of luck. All the way up to my last night of partying, I was fortunate enough to attend Dave's own birthday bash at Mayflower KTV. That'll be an epic memory I'll have for a very long time: I had a great girl with me, everyone was having a blast, and it was awesome seeing Dave letting loose, chasing people around with cake on his face and spraying champagne everywhere, LOL!

Dave, if you're keeping tabs. Thank You for the memories and Good Health to you! I'm coming back soon.

I know it sounds that we're just cappers for BSD, but honestly, none of us are getting benefits from Dave by recommending his services. I just think that when you go somewhere and you can trust someone to look out for your best interests that can speak the language, it's the best thing you can do. Dave also brings people together so it helps them have a good time in a group setting as opposed to just going by yourself everywhere (which can get boring). I know that I've been looking to do some fun in other countries and part of the process is figuring out where to stay, where to go, good places go hang out at. There's ALOT of wasted resources in trying figure all this stuff out and for a small fee, having someone trusted that can show you all the ins and outs. That's the way to go!

Plus Dave's a nice guy. Honest and he's committed to helping his customers.

I always party with Dave's customers when I'm in town. I don't need much of his services, but I know that everyone who uses him is happy with him.

Can't ask for much more when coming into a town where english is as useful as farsi. Where everything is in Chinese, and being able to find the best action is not as easy and open as you think it is.

The other option is to rely on the help of people from this board that are in town, but that obviously has limits. Dave will go out with you at 3 a. M. To go trolling and make sure that all the "terms" are set. I'm not going to do that with you. At 3. I'll be in bed, sleeping. If you call me, I won't answer. Haha. (Dave will).

Anyways, will have lots of folks in town in March, if old buddies are in town. Hit me up (same number).

    P. S. Where the hell is BT?

    Data roaming / sms?

But first I got a question for you tech savvy guys.

When I go in to China, I "feed" my Hong Kong number to my Dual China / Hong Kong phone number, thus saving the roaming charges. When I do this, I receive all my calls made to my Hong Kong phone number at my China number.

But I still get all my SMS message on my Hong Kong phone number. I have made initial enquiries and the guy at my Hong Kong phone number shop tells me that I will NOT be able to do this if I switch to an IPhone UNLESS I keep my IPhone still on data roaming whilst I am in China. And he warns me that to keep my data roaming on in China will cost me a LOT of money.

And there is no other way for me to still be able to get my SMS's cheaply while I am in China as there is no way for his company to also divert SMS messages to another phone number.

So what is the solution to this?

Thanks in advance Tech Savvy guys!

    SEAJ,

Been a while. I've been working and will be back in a few weeks for a few months. So will see ya when I get back. In terms of what you're talking about, the guy is wrong.

In fact, if you're at home, you CAN still use WIFI to get DATA and turn THAT on, but just turn ROAMING OFF, so that at least while at Wifi Hotspots, you can use your iphone freely.

Now that still requires you having two phones because if you want to use your local CP number, then you won't be able to use the iphone with a dual sim holder. I'd stay away from the dual sim for the iphone. It's just awkward, bulky and not very reliable. In addition, you need to jailbreak your phone even to utilize it.

My suggestion, have two phones or just get a dual sim phone that's not an iphone.

The other option and I"m not sure this is available in Hong Kong, but to have a GOOGLE VOICE # that allows you to get texts. Now understand, I have no idea whether google voice is in Hong Kong yet or not. But at least in the US, when I give them this number to text, I readily can get my texts anywhere because it gets sent via email. WIth HK Text messages, I doubt that this can be "forwarded" to another device. You'd actually have to have your pphone on and getting signal.

Just remember if you're going to actually GET or MAKE a phone call even with data roaming off, it's going to hurt.

I use my China number in the US regularly. I turn off data and I send and receive sms all the time no problem. (free to receive). A little expensive to send, but not that bad.

    Hope that helps!

    Just follow the advice

    JohnnyVegas,

Just Take the advice. I wish I will be able to get a tour guide like BS Dave here in Yantai. It is completely frustrating to know that there are chances but you don't know how to get it because of the language.

    All the best.

As yes, being a veteran of LOS, I thought I could figure it out. Sorry again for being naive about China. That's just how we roll there. Meet up with a few fellow mongers who are happy to hang out.

An old friend talked about Humen for years. Now he's moved away, got married and has a baby so he's not in contact about this subject. Talking to taxi drivers, tuk tuk drivers, bell boys etc. Has gotten me some action in CR, DR, SR, PP but as this is new to me here, I'll have to rely on the grand masters. Thanks guys.

    Anyone around April 1-10

    Hi all,

Will any of the senior memebers be around during that week? Would love to meet up and put a face to some of the handles, especially the senior members. I did meet up with Dave in Dec and he seems like a very nice guy. Although I didn't get a chance to use his services, he still gave me alot of advice and things to think about. I'm coming from Canada with a group of 4 guys, all in their early 30's. We're all drinkers and we all party hard and we would love to meet up with more fun guys.

The reason why I tell you to contact him is because China is complicated and it takes a lot of time to get learn the ropes. It's not something you can learn in a few days. Some Veterans of the trade that have been in China for decades are constantly still having to learn the ropes as policies in China change among the different venues that are offered.

China's not like Thailand's Pattaya where girls are jut dancing outside in the open hut and everything goes. In China it's about discretion and nothing is what it appears unless you have contacts and connections.

    Just my advice that's all.

    AsnDragon.
Thank you very much and I truly appreciate your advice. I was just trying to explain my uninformed, reasoning.
