Maybe I'm a sucker, but I have a lot of sympathy for these people. They are, after all, poor and we are much more fortunate than they are. I know we can't be used as cash machines. But (especially if you know someone) , how much can it hurt you to help them to a meal? To me, you have to have a conscience and not just treat the place as your personal playground of prostitutes.

A girl I picked up before in the Mango area approached me as I was walking back to my room after dinner. My previous experience with her was great and I was certainly willing to have a session with her again, but tonight I was just too damn tired. I've had a recurring sinus infection and tonight it was draining all my energy. After kindly explaining why I couldn't see her tonite, she then goes 'ohh, Riverman, I'm hungy please just give me 50 pesos. ' It surprised me she did this, because last time she seemed like a pretty nice chick, and not a beggar type. I guess the street is burning her out.
I'm wondering what you guys think about this situation. Personally, I hate being hit up like that, for several reasons. 1) if I don't partake, I don't want to give anything 2) I don't want a strictly P4P provider to get accustomed to successfully hitting me up for free money 3) I don't like pulling out and handing over money on the street. 4) I frequent the mango / fuente area a lot, and don't want the denizens there to consider me a mark for begging, etc. 5) I just plain find it irritating.
After my polite refusal, she got rather nasty and we parted less than friends. I am curious to the thoughts of you guys on this subject. Any better way to deal with this situation? Anyone?

Posts: 4567RK, where I come from in the Midwest of US of A,"luck out" means to be lucky. We even verb the noun as in "I lucked out". Oh, us funny Americans. It sounds like you are using it the opposite way. I've never heard "luck in", but I will try it if I ever make it back to the land of extraordinarily boring and unsual politics. X.

I have been visiting Cebu on sporadic intervals for 15 years now (I live in Manila) , and I have never lucked out in Cebu. I have used DIA, mall meetings, bars on Mango and nearby to Mango (eg old Silver Dollar and Lone Star) and if one fails the other comes through.
I have posted on several mall meetings here (over the past 2 years) and I agree with Frenzy that there are potential pitfalls but the last 2 encounters that I have had have turned out to be exceptional (both were bored horny housewives looking for a few hours of fun while hubby was at work or, in one case, overseas working).
I must admit I have never tried the discos at the top of Mango (for example, Julianas (name now changed) but I have been to Pump near Ayala and my wing man found a prize but I saw nothing that appealed so I moved on to a bar for the final stanza. I will be returning soon so I will post some updates on my favorite places.

Posts: 409After spending the evening with Frenzy last night (he is very knowledgeable about the local society and I highly recommend getting touch with him for his interesting perspective) I went to the Mango bars at around 11pm. There was no need to get there early (except that maybe some of the hotter women may have been taken). Most of the bars were pretty empty and I stuck my head into every one of them. I got a chuckle in one where there was one customer (with 2 women) who beckoned me to stay as he saw me walking out. I understand the feeling when you are the only customer in the place.

Posts: 762If you are coming here for less than a month head to the mango bars on your first night and do a bar hop they start 9 pm and you should start 9 pm, as the good bars fill up quick. Talk to the mamasan and tell her what type of girl you like (yes she will ask for a ladies drink). Some times they are still out the back or absent that night. Keep doing this until you find what you want. I take the first girl I find and take her to a few more bars. Buy the girl 1 or 2 ladies drink and ask her what she will do for you, I rather her tell me what she will do she is a pro , if she is too shy you should find another girl. they do not get better once you leave the bar . You really need to do a bar hop in Cebu. I also ask the girl what bar she wants to go to as there are always new bars or old ones changing. They seem to get the New and hot girls as news get out fast they are hiring. Barfines start at 1700 and then 4000 to arena at 8000
The malls can be a mine field as some girls are ex bar who fail higyne or are desperate for cash and are banned from bars due to other problems. There are also new girls there to make some money. You will see them in pairs often you need to watch to make sure they are working. If a lady boy approaches you say you only want girls, they may help you to find a girl they know working the malls, do not give them any money unless they help you this is only valid for lady boys as they will rob you blind. This advice also applies for the discos in mango square. Disco are a bit like the malls but after the bars close you can meet working girls who did not get ewr. But I would tell you to go there with a girl as they are hit and miss. For me the girl sence in Cebu requires time and effort. So never come here less than 2 days. Stay in Cebu and forget about pussy at the beaches. Unless you find a girl in the city to go with you stay in town. Mall and disco girls start from 500 the most I paid is 1000.
Down town is a better experience if you know some one living here to show you around even some the locals avoid downtown. But if you know some one it is worth a look.
When meeting a girl from a online dating site do not expect her on time or offer to pay her taxi, you will spend time just waiting and some times they will never turn up, or turn up when you are leaving to meet your next.
Do not lie to the girls here tell them what you are after, some will even introduce you to a friend that matches your need. Also know that people here live peso to peso so always offer taxi money 50-200 peso once they turn up, if they ask tell them to borrow the jeepney fare, when you meet them ask them what jeepney they took. There is a saying here "only rich foreigners and prostitutes take the taxi"
This is based on my 5 years of living here, I get new girls every month.
