Need to get away for 3-4 days, and am thinking to head to DR. I was thinking to check out BlackBeards as I speak no espanol and am solo. I'm also debating whether I shd research well and plan something in Sosua. Any feedback is welcome.

One of the best outings in the area is the Teleferico at Puerto Plata. This costs $350 pesos for a gringo and $200 pesos for a Dominican (or Haitian) passenger. It is best to go on a clear sunny day when the top is not in the clouds, so that you can enjoy the wonderful views from the top and not be cold and damp. There is an interesting area of parks and walks at the top and various mountain flowers and plants can be seen. There is also a restaurant which is a bit more expensive than down below, as you might expect, but has a fairly decent menu. I would recommend the pollo con arroz paella, but give the camarones al ajillo a miss. Here are some pictures:

I've been up there a few times, watch out for the local "guides" that try to walk you around and charge outrageous fees. I had one tell me he wanted $40. USD to show me around, hahaha.

Search / read the thread there are numerous BB trip reports including my detailed Dec. 2011 report. BB wants to keep their website generic. But contact them via email & they will respond with prices, rules and other useful information. Sign up for their newsletter. It contains pictures of the chicas. Email BB any questions you have. They are customer oriented and will respond.

At one time they used to have a gallery of pics of chicas, but it was too incriminating, providing too much legal ammunition for those that would like to close them down.

You might want to consider the possibility that your "chica-loving" novia is only doing the lesbian schtick so as to keep you happy and to make sure that she maintains access to and a measure of control over your purse strings. Is it really she who is lusting after other women, or is it you who is fueling these three-way trysts and paying for them?

If you take her to Blackbeard's she may be striking deals with the other girls behind your back to provide access to your money. Just how the psychodynamics of this could work out would be unpredictable. Personally I would not take the woman you call your "novia" to Blackbeard's. I think it will end badly. However the decision is yours to make, and only you can fully work out all the variables.
