I just visited Sakura Hotel, March 2012. Front Desk Clerk (woman) brought me up to the 2nd floor, where the well-stocked Fish Bowl awaits. About a dozen women were there 2pm on a weekday. To all who have replied, thanks. And yeah, I realized that Phnom Penh has changed a lot since the 90s. It's nothing like "Off the Rails" makes it out to be. To be honest, that's what I was looking for. And it's not being able to please the girl that I'm worried about. I couldn't care less about that. I just want someone young and attractive because I know that I probably will never be able to get an 18yo back in the states. I also don't want to go through the hassle at the bars. Bars put me off and it's really only about sex. If I wanted to chat a girl up I'd stick to american girls who can at least speak english well and can hold a decent conversation. On the other hand, I don't want it to be too cold and business-like and not feel like I have many options. In PP I didn't feel like there were many attractive girls outside of the bar district. From what I've read of Pattaya it seems you can walk the beach and girls will wave you down. But those reports were also from years back.

The problem is that you want something fairly restrictive and aren't willing to try many places to find it. If every guy could find very attractive 18yo girls and didn't have to bother with annoying bars and clubs, life would be pretty pleasant.

Massage parlors in Bangkok might be your best bet. Some have 40 or 50 girls working which you can choose from, though the younger ones are more expensive.

So how do you get to Cambodia, I guess you went through another country, was it Thailand? If so, keep it in your pants until you stopover in Thailand, you will find plenty of nice young and willing girls to take care of you, and they can be very young, all claim 18yo, but a few are younger. And don't bother about not drinking alchohol, I have spent many a night on Coke and Soda water and 7up, nobody will think any less of you for not drinking. You can still go to discos to listen to the music etc. But get a decent hotel, not a flea trap, believe me that will turn the girl off quick smart, be sensibly generous and you will have a great time.

Glad you cured the guy that was buying drinks at the drop of hat. He probably overpays massively as well which totally spoils things for everyone who follows. Once a girl knows she can get $40 for an all nigh from some clueless tourist then everyone in the bar will want the same. The average wage in Cambodia is barely $15 so buying multiple lady drinks etc is just stupid.

It sounds like you're looking for the brothels that existed in the 90s. But they're gone now.

It sounds to me, like you are putting up a bunch of mental roadblocks for yourself, the same reasons that you are inventing that kept you from getting laid in the US.

For example, who says you can't go into a bar or nightclub JUST to meet girls, without drinking or dancing? There are literally THOUSANDS of girls in PP waiting to meet a guy just like you (a guy with $20 in his pocket). And if you are young and good looking, that even opens the possibilities a little more.

But, you have to be at least a little bit aggressive. Anybody who is experience and knows the "score" will be able to swoop in and steal your young hottie, while you are busy staring at your shoes and making excuses for yourself.

My advice would be, go hang out in these bars anyway, go to Shanghai where it sounds like most of the girls are not even available for takeout. Buy them some lady drinks, buy yourself a coke, talk to the girls and have a good time.

You need to get over the fear of talking to these girls initially. So just go and have fun without the enormous pressure you've built up for yourself about trying to lose your virginity. Maybe after a while you will be comfortable enough to tell some girls what you are looking for, maybe they know somebody who knows somebody. Even make friends with some of the guys, who might be able to take you under their wing.

Also if you are inexperienced and end up with an inexperienced girl, you could have a disaster. There is nothing wrong with going with a girl that has a little bit of experience. Are you really going to turn down a 25 year old hottie, waiting instead for the mythical girl that just turned 18 yesterday?

Sorry for the tough love, but the only thing stopping you is you. So go out, learn to have fun, and let things progress instead of stopping them for all these silly reasons.

cambodia is not for you if you are reasonably ok looking. it is very hard to meet normal girls. the girls at the brothels, bars, ktv do not care if you are young or a virgin (in men's terms it means nothing). if you are in the age bracket of 12-16 it may mean something to other high school girls. so do not go and advertise the fact with girls. they will be amused but least bit interested. maybe they will take advantage of the fact and scam you.

but in phnom penh you should have been successfull in getting laid quickly. maybe you are too cautious, afraid of **** or just afraid. only thing i want to say is with prostitutes there is no need to worry if you satisfy the girl or not.

pattaya is also for seasoned mongers.

i would suggest chat with phi normal girls. they can speak english and will be accomodating becauuse they themselves are not much experienced in sex.

First off: RELAX. You will have a wonderful time in Phnom Penh.

The I'd issue is not really an issue. Most girls from the normal girlie / hostess bars will have I'd. A lot of the freelancers will also have I'd. I'm not sure about Vietnamese girls who are illegally in Cambodia, but there are hundreds of legally resident Vietnamese girls who will also have I'd.

Some hotels say they need overnight guests I'd but if you front up with a girl who doesn't have I'd, they will just hold her cellphone at reception overnight. One place I stayed at, I brought a girl back who had no I'd and no cellphone, so the hotel just made me sign in a book to say I took responsibility for the girl in case of any theft problems etc. So it's no problem, and as you say, it's just for your protection.

Also there is a very different attitude to prostitution in Cambodia, Thailand and most of SE Asia compared to the west. It is a much more accepted part of daily life. So hotels, restaurants, bars and most other places won't hassle you at all as you BRI g your hottie (or two) into their establishments. Yes you get the odd frown from American mid-Western middle aged couples in hotel foyers or restaurants, but I actually take a perverse delight in choosing restaurant tables right next to them when I'm out with a hot girl, so I can watch them squirm! All part of the fun.

And yes, if you can find a gorgeous, friendly, English speaking girl in your first couple of nights and then keep her for the trip, that is a great way to go. I too am facing the same predicament as JohnSmith : obviously the Raffles is out of the Question. However as the P. P. Hotel has a KTV in the premises it should be fine with an overnight "friendly" provided a double room is booked.

However as most of the "fun" bars are on the riverfront, the bargirl friendly Bougainviller Hotel springs to mind : the tripadvisor warns that the better rooms are on the 4th floor & there is no elevator (which normally I don't care about) : I dread the prospect of being dead drunk at 3am with a willing companion & being faced with a hike up 4 floors.

Sir, I too would appreciate any inputs you may have aon a well-located girl-friendly establishment (with COLD aircon if that is not too much to dream for!)

The hotel's website says they are "family friendly" but does not say anything about "no sex tourism" like some hotels. So it sounds like I might get dirty looks from some guy's fat ugly wife, I can deal with that.

However, I searched the forums and saw some people complaining that this hotel is NOT girl friendly, the reason being that they hassle you for the girl's I'd. I emailed the hotel, they replied that having guests is fine, without an extra fee, but they must be over 18 and must leave their I'd at the desk.

This sounds pretty reasonable to me, this policy is only there to protect me and to protect the hotel. I have no problem with this policy at all.

However, is this going to cause issues, as far as limiting my choices of girls to invite back? You would think they would need I'd to get into the bars in the first place? What about Vietnamese girls, are they in the country illegally and will not have an I'd? Do the Vietnamese girls normally stick to the massage parlors and brothels, and are not even available for take-out? Maybe the girls without I'd are the ones more likely to cause problems anyway?
