After the girl you barfined from Rio got too drunk (on your bill), you paid 3000 LT to a Climax girl, bragging about how she stayed until 2PM? Wahahahaha.
You paid 2700 for dinner with a girl from Badoo? Ahahahaha.
And then on top of that, you posted a photo of a completely average looking thai bargirl.
Treating hoes like princesses. This is how places get ruined.

Posts: 782Latin women compared to Thais

In contrast, with a little internet preparation (tagged, badoo, etc) , I have never fail to get a non-pro in Latin America who is half my age, even if I am there only a few days. Even though I plan to be in BKK an entire week, I doubt I will succeed in conquering a non-pro (I would be delighted to take advice on this if someone thinks they can help!).
Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will book my room with Giotto.

In my experience of Thai girls they do have just as many problems in understanding Farrang Culture as we do in understanding them!
What, to THEM, seems perfectly normal behaviour, to us guys is completely CRAZY!
And, by the same token some of the things that WE do, say and think must seem absolutely incomprehensible to them.
Just TRY to accept that we are so, so different and just accept that you will NEVER completly understand Thai behaviour and you will not be far wrong!
Enjoy,
Hotman.

Posts: 138Guide for dating thai girls, with more the expat in mind:
1. Don't try to date a bargirl. Just don't. They're for fun. Enjoy them. But leave it at that. Find one with no connection at all to the nightlife. Seems hard at first, but gets easier with time.
2. Be careful with girls under 25. Especially if you're over 40. Thai girls are fairly immature in general, but if she's under 25 forget it. If you're an older guy, thai women in their 30s and 40s seem to make for very happy and stable relationships.
3. Be very firm about money. She will try to test you to see if you're dumb and loose with it. If you are, she will lose respect for you and treat you like an ATM. However, if you are modest and fair then she will respect you. Remember that it doesn't take a lot of money to offer thai girls a better life than what they're used to.
4. Find a girl with a job. Make her keep it. If she sits around your place all day doing nothing, she may become bored, lonely, spoiled, fat and / or unpleasant, none of which will work out well for you.
5. Be extra careful with girls from Isaan. There are certainly many nice ones from there, but there's a reason why that region supplies 95% of prostitutes.
6. If she tells you it's customary to support her family financially, don't do it. And possibly break up with her. This is just a scam.
7. Some more things to watch out for: a "brother" she seems awfully close to. 50 or 100 farang "friends" on facebook / skype / etc. If she's not working but seems to have enough money to live on. Good English despite a very low education.
8. Don't rush into marriage and children. Many of them push these things hard because they want to lock a man down. But take your time.
9. Be prepared that she will be extremely jealous, especially in the beginning. Looking through your phone, calling you constantly to check on you, etc. Once she feels safe that you aren't about to break up with her, she'll relax and give you some leeway.
10. It's somewhat customary and accepted by thai women that their man will play around on the side. As long as it's nothing serious, is discreet and doesn't interfere with her, they'll generally look the other way. Even if she suspects you spent the afternoon at the massage parlour, she'll be fine if you come home to her every night.
11. Thai women flip out and go nutty if you leave them home alone for a few days. They'll even start seeing ghosts. Be careful about long trips unless you want to deal with hysteria.
12. There are nice legitimate girls to be found on the main e-dating sites, but a good number of the girls on there are "grey area" semi-pros. Looking for free holidays, new cell phones, or unusually large taxi bills to come visit your hotel. I've found multiple gogo girls on dating sites before too, even ones I had slept with before. You have to wade through all of this if you want to find a dateable girl on an internet dating site. If possible, it's better to meet girls through work, through friends, or just while out at restaurants or shopping areas (away from Sukhumvit).
Anything I missed?

The girls in these places are mostly not likely to be porn-stars, but may still be suited to the customer if the chemistry is right. These girls don't last for a long time if they are really great, because they are mostly looking for a western boyfriend / husband and many of Giotto's girls have been indeed stolen away by customers. I don't know anything about the current set of girls there.
If you stay at LL and don't find the right girl in the sports bar, or they are too shy for your taste (assuming you look for wild and very experienced girls) , then there are plenty of other options around, like nearby Massage Parlours, or go-gos with naked girls in Soi Cowboy.
For a really almost cannot fail experience, check out reports about famous Oily Massage Places like Mango, Snow White, and Tulip. Wayward porn-star girls from there can be taken away for the night too.
Forgive me if I misinterpret your desires, but Latin girls seem like wild go-ers to me.

Posts: 782Question concerning Livingstone's Lodge
I have been dutifully reading the forum in preparation for a business trip to BKK. My model for a business trip is based on my Medellin experience, where life at the Mansion introduces a "can't fail" aspect to any particular day (or night!).
I thought that LL would be the Thai equivalent of the Mansion, but when I look at Giotto's forum, there is hardly anything written in the last few years. I am delighted that Giotto himself is still in business, but I have no idea if the Lodge is still an exciting and fun place. There really are very few reports, although there are clearly still people who like the place.
My impression is that LL is particularly good for those of us who do not know the city, but that the girls / BF at the sports bar (as well as Soi 33 in general) are probably a bit overpriced. That being said, Giotto himself has a treasure trove of information that he happily shares with his guests concerning other venues.
Is this a fair summary? Has anyone been there recently who could shed some light on this?

Posts: 651Political Trouble during Songkran
In Bangkok now for 5 days. My tailor and the hotel guys all told me that they expect political trouble during Songkran. I don't know how accurate their prediction is but they live here. Have backup plans if airport is shut down or something.

Seemed to me that Soi 33 was a bit quiet and so was the Sport Lounge, surprisingly as at dinner time it should be more equipped.
Will not take long before I can check again, including night time.
About what's new at LL it all depends when you were there last time.
