Then you might want to try one of the Estiny's Hotel, there is one on Soi 7, and Soi 8, both I believe in around 1500 baht and the one on Soi 8, seem nicer and gives a free buffet breakfast?

Does anyone know any hotels that don't have a joiner for 3 ladies staying short time?

  3. #2209

New hotel. Soi buckhao, towards south end

Just got backs from Pattaya, name of this place is RCon Blue Ocean, gf no problem.

800 / night. But beware, with new 3 level bar complex next door, it might be a bit loud for anyone that sleeps before 2am.

Otherwise great value during this soft opening, swimming pool avail, but not ready when I was there

I haven't been there in nearly 2 years. I checked it out for a friend it was pretty new then and didn't seem to have many customer. If I remember corrrectly the price for a standard started at 2, 500 baht? No joiner fee at the time I asked? Good location but doesn't seem to have much business might be because of the cost.

If you are interested in the location, you might also want to consider the Holiday Inn, There is also two Mikes Orchid places on Soi 4, and Best Villa which is 1900 for standand with no guest fee and free breakfast for one, walk in to their buffet is 300 baht.

    Thats all folks! LBM

Oops Raw Deal, I saw you have already crossed Mercure off the list, so ignore my previous post.

Luvpuss, I may have to check out the Marriott for one night. I only have silver status (and I will be booking via expedia to use up a BRG voucher), so no freebies or upgrades.

    - Hotel Pattaya bay resort.

    - Hotel Tim boutique.

My questions are. Are these hotels guest friendly? Do they apply any guest charge?

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Mercure looks quite dissapointing and run down from trip advisor photos (though many reviews are positive), which is a pity as I am Accor Platinum, and they do give status upgrades (which they do not have to do as a non luxury/ upscale Accor property). They don't charge joiner if you book through their website / the Accor website (I sent them an email, as I do most places before I go). If you use a third party site they charge 500THB.

I am spending one night at the Pullman Aisawan, despite the fact it is well out of the town centre, and they charge 1000THB joiner, but the hotel, upgrades (for platinum), gifts and club lounge look lush enough for me to monger outside the hotel for that day (or possibly organise repeat LT from a FL I picked up last trip and get her to check-in as the second person in the room).

Since posting this, I have seen that OP has further narrowed down hotel choices, so Mercure info is for other punters considering the hotel.

Cheers guys for your suggestions. I may not stay at the Marriott because of the prices I am seeing through agoda and their website. My view is to rather spend the dough at the bars, so it will have to one of the shortlist I have. Tim Boutique and LK Metropole (based on adrenalinerush's recco) seem to be the front runners then.

Thanks a ton for your help though.

And if you guys are in Pattaya, then lets party!

On your short list, I have only stayed at Tim Boutique. It is very guest friendly and has a good location. Usually I stay at the much more expensive Marriott, but for $61 / night vs. $124 / night I am beginning to rethink my preference. The Marriott has a nicer pool and garden for sure, although Tim has a very nice rooftop pool. The Marriott has a much better buffet breakfast, but it is very expensive vs. Free breakfast at Tim. And I like the back entrance into the garden from Beach Road at the Marriott, but unless you upgrade to the significantly higher priced Terrace Suite ($200 plus) , the Tim Boutique is almost as good room for room.

Here is my review posted in Agoda:

"Tim Boutique is very good hotel. The rooms are large, well appointed, and immaculate. The rooftop pool is very nice and the staff went out of their way to be helpful.

I was very impressed with the Tim Boutique. This is a well run friendly hotel with amenities you would only expect in far more expensive hotels. I would recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Pattaya. It is a great value. I will stay here again."

just so you don't think that time was wasted, let me tell you about last night. first of all, i'm new to this forum, as i've spent most of my mongering time in dr and brazil, so now i'm giving thailand a shot. last night, my mission was to find a hotel. i spent about 6 hours totally baffled concerning what hotel to stay at. i was all over the place. checking old forum messages here, going to other websites, checking out some other websites' supposed list of gf hotels where the links were no longer good. i was getting frustrated all over the place because i would go to a website, get excited, then see that the price is too high or the place is further away than where i want to stay or it's missing something like wifi in the room.

then i came across your chain of emails and i quickly saw that these emails contained hotels that were in the price range that i was looking for. i was like damn, i went through hours and hours of hell and this guy xfactors has everything that i've been looking for right here. it calmed me down and i just clicked each one of your links. it was amazing that a lot of these places fit my needs, which involved wifi in the room, safe in the room, convenient to devil's den and [CodeWord900] but still close to walking street, and a price below 1200 baht per night since i'm staying 3 weeks.

i started at the beginning of your links, then i would click the link, check out the map (if location good, i look further. if not, i move to your next link). then i would check the amenities, then i would look for past reviews in isg for the hotel. also would read reviews in tripadvisor. com. isg held more weight, so if multiple negative reviews (such as what i saw for secrets- i was pumped for that place before i saw the reviews. lol) , it's crossed off the list.

i was in a zone, clicking your links and checking reviews until 3am this morning and i offically have 4 hotels that i feel good about. i'll be sending emails out to them today, so i can get some feedback on other questions. i just thought i would write this, so that you know how much of a major help you were to me, in narrowing down my hotel options, after being earlier so frustrated.

major kudos to you, my friend for the organization of those hotels and of course, thanks to all the members who took the time to put in their hotel room reviews.

more than likely, i'll be staying in the soi lk metro area, possibly either pasadena hotel, rockhouse hotel, or the metro apts.

    later!
