Unemployment is very low in Thailand (officially 1%). That said, what an uneducated Isaan girl straight off the bus can make in a job (about 7, 000 baht monthly) still makes the working life an attractive one.

I think the problem is more that bar-oriented farang and japanese tourists are at a real low. Between the 2008 economic crisis, the 2011 EU crisis and the Japanese earthquake, less people are in a heavy spending mood, despite some of the bragging you see on this forum. Thai Tourism is trying to replace them with Chinese, Russians and Indians. But the Chinese come in big tour groups of 50 or 60 with women and children and don't speak any English, Russian men always bring their wives and girlfriends and don't seem too interested in thai bargirls, and the Indians aren't allowed into gogo bars.

I visited Pattaya recently and it's now almost all Russians except for a few Indians. I heard it in Phnom Penh too. "Boring now. No customer".

Put all this together, combined with rising prices and an exchange rate that isn't as great anymore, and revenue is likely dropping.

Washington Square and Soi 33 are dying first and only the biggest name places seem to still have a good flow of customers. The industry as a whole will have to rethink itself.

Many I'm sure would like Bangkok to turn into Singapore or HK, but I can see that failing. There simply isn't the international business here to make that sustainable.

What Bangkok was like 5, 10 or 20 years ago is irrelevant. It's what it is like today that counts.

Bangkok is still loaded with chicks, ready, willing and able to play. Pro's, part timers and amateurs abound in this city!

You don't have to lower your standards, but you may have to raise your game in this more competitive market.

This board is about the exchange of information to enable you to do this.

There are many social media available to be used, the game is changing, adapt or miss out.

Thailand has basically zero unemployment now, many places cannot get workers for real jobs, let alone being a slapper. This leads to increasing wages and prices and a big drop in the supply of girls.

The girls are getting more educated, they know its easy to rip farangs off via the internet, they know they can get more money for less bang by going to nighclubs, hotel clubs, G-clubs. And so this leads to a drop in girls servicing tourists.

The girls themselves are complaining over a lack of farang tourists and this is leading to many changing their profession or the way they go about it.

I enjoy BKK greatly, but I am not a tourist and have the luxury of time, which allows me to play the game how I want to play it.

The girls too are complaining that the scene is changing. They are not happy as well. But change it will. Even if all parties are not happy about it. Things always change.

It's more important than ever to know the places that are "in" right now, and also to know the service providers of the oilies / soapies. Bangkok still offers plenty of opportunities to have fun. But more than ever before the hunters need to know where and to whom they need to go.

I was out again yesterday! Let's start with the area around Washington Square.

Most of the bars are now closed there. They had to move out on 01. 03. 2012, a major construction project is due to start soon. But. Obviously there are some delays, the last remaining bars got an extension of their lease agreement for another 3 months, and some managers are expecting this to continue until the end of this year.

Bourbon Street: Gone. They opened somewhere else. I read that somewhere, but I don't remember where.

Sportsmanclub: (the bar located on the ground floor of the old Mambo cabaret building) Deserted. 5 customers in this huge bar / restaurant / pool bar.

Dubliner: Still some customers, BUT NO LEFFE BEER. What the hell ... why do I go there then, if they don't have LEFFE draft?

Soi 33

Wall Street: 5 girls, no customer.

Lookie Lookie: some girls, no customer.

Green Parrot: some girls, no customer.

No-name bar: (A new bar at the end of the side road close to Wall Street, left hand side) had some customer, but no girls.

Dali: first time, that I was in there in years now. Dali made my day yesterday.

The owner merged Dali with Monet (same owner) on the old Dali premises. The arrangement is strange. Dali was cut in half, a wall was build in the middle of the old Dali. The bar (before a round setup in the middle of the old Dal)i is now cut in half, too. One half is in the new Dali, the other half in Monet.

Dali still employes the 204 year old beautiful Mamasan, one of the unique "landmarks" of Soi 33. And. There are approximately 10 girls working there. 4 or 5 of them lookers. Tall girls, slim. Nice to look at. A friend of mine took one of them out, THB 840 bar fine (after 11 pm, strange amount). A looker, but a non-performer.

Monet: The other half of the old Dali. 4.6 girls dressed in red yesterday, not worth to mention. The older generation of the combined Dali / Monet girls crew. Grandmothers party.

9 years going to BKK and I've seen little change, maybe a little change in popular venues but BKK is same same! Corrupt countries see very little change-which is what most of us want. Hahahaha.

We don't need another Hong kong or Singapore on our hands.

But in effect, that is what you are getting, well, on the surface that is. Sukhumvit is turning into one big mall. From Siam to The Emporium, all you have are shopping malls and hotels. They are even tearing down the Scala theater to make room for more shopping. They are doing their best to emulate Sing and HK, except they don't have the infrastructure, the transparency, etc. So in effect, it is the worst of two worlds.

The only problem with Sing is the cost. Bars stay open late and there is plenty of P4P available and you can actually make money there.

I have to say that I was a little bit disappointed by heaven aka. Nana Entertainment Plaza. If I was in a bad mood I'd call it dirty, smelly with hundreds of bored to death girls shuffling their feet. However, I assume it's an acquired taste and I'll certainly be back to try my luck again.

Went through 6 or 7 gogos without finding anything in particular but, go figure, in Obsession the LB's were obviously the most gorgeous bunch of them all. I would say the scene will never recover its former glory. Development has caught up with BKK and the "scene," especially Sukhumvit. Reasons? Lots of 'them. Changing demographics for one. Lower Sukhumvit is a disaster. No longer the domain of Western tourists, the place is now populated with Middle Easterners, Africans, and Indians, not the working girls favorites for sure and I believe it keeps many of them out of the area. The street market till midnight and the bars littering the street at night see filth at a new level. BG Soi 7 is abysmal. Most of the ladies working there could be grandmothers and many have the stones to ask for 1. 5k. Thermae is indeed the playground for the Japanese now, and to tell you the truth there are some cuties there but nowhere near what was seen even a year ago.

Working girls also are well aware of their value now. Hotties work the late night discos, Hotels, G Clubs, and with the atmospheric rise in salaries among Thai workers (educated that is) , there are fewer "part timers." GoGo girls that are attractive work in a few select bars where they command big money, leaving most GoGos devoid of talent. So the "market" is in fact killing the "market." There seem to be way more punters than there are great looking girls these days, a trend I am afraid will continue.

Prices are another factor. BKK is not longer a cheap playground, and before all of you start your "I'm rich" ranting please just look at the economics. Dinner and drinks with the boys, drinks, BF, and ST with a GoGo girl used to run around 3k baht or 75 USD "back in the day." I would say you would be hard pressed to do that for double these days. Yes, that does effect business and does effect the number of guys that come here from Western countries. I see fewer and fewer of the regulars here.

Me, I rarely go out to the "bars" these days. Prices aside, it is just not really "fun" anymore. There are other things that I love about this city and country, food, the up and coming Thai Football league, hanging with friends and drinking a good beer (for the same price as a local brew in Cowboy) , and hitting the oilies in the afternoon when the mood stirs within me.

Things change. BKK is the most dynamic place I have ever lived. It will continue to evolve and the "scene" as we know it will change along with it, and I would think not to most of our likings, but hey, every day there is some newbie who is getting his first piece of bought Thai tail and thinks he has found heaven and for awhile he will sit on his cloud while we are left with our memories of the "good ole days" and to try and squeeze every bit of enjoyment out of the place while we still can. I'm staying.

Soi 33 is not seeing much action otehr than the ladies trying to pull in the few men passing by.

This is what I have witnesssed in a few nights in the recent 3 weeks.

Livingstone Lodge sees a new bunch of girls in the Sports Bar, but language is at a challenge in communicating with some of them due to english skills. Seems a refreshening took place in the last weeks.

Probably the team is not yet sorted as one I picked up one night was not there anymore less than a week later, and was not missing as BF'd.

Maybe re-read my post, I said quite the opposite: "I believe ST will be a fair bit more than 1K (BF will eat most of that up) , and you will generally have to hit it off or be fairly generous with LDs (and offered fee) to make it happen." 1K will only cover the BF and lady drinks for most 'stunners', especially in Bangkok, and then you will pay a pretty penny for the lady as well.

Spent some time at Bangkok Beat Soi 7/1 (where the Eden Club is).10:30 pm. 11:30 pm, the selection of girls was a catastrophe (compared to a year ago, when I was there last time). The place is a gay mens club now.
