Word for word great post, could have written it myself. Being discrete goes a long way in Colombia, try it sometime.

Begin rant: Unfortunately, some (too many?) of my countrymen who visit Colombia do not think discretion, respect and local customs, etc, apply to them while there. I don't like stereotypes or to make broad sweeping generalizations, but it has unfortunately become quite obvious that many of us guys from the States who monger in Colombia are complete arrogant assholes who don't give a hoot about local customs; don't know how to be discrete; constantly gossip and run our mouths while there; are loud and obnoxious with our foul language in places that aren't the men's locker room; feel that the local rules are for locals; brag, brag and brag some more about how (pick something) etc, etc, and then after bragging about how great we are and how much money we make; well of course we want to pay as little as possible for pussy so we can brag about that as well.

I love my country and I'm proud to be an American. But some (too many?) of my countrymen are just plain jerks. End rant.

Looking forward to my upcoming trip and staying low key and out of the spotlight with some local favoritas from the barrios and those "vacationing" university students (uh huh) frolicking in and out of the water.

There are alot of dumb posts by guys here that say the same thing: "what these guys do on their own time is their biz". Not true. There is something called BLACKMAIL. When the guy said he works for Obama, they are compromising the president. As worthless as Obama is, you don't want cartel members trying to get info about where Obama will be. Hell, they could have kidnapped one of them and tortured them unless they told where Obama was going to be staying. I know these are far fetched ideas, but you can't put yourself in that situation. Medellin has been gringoed out for about 3 years now, Parque gringo, Hooters, Where gringos, gallivant with not a care in the world and a real false sense of security, just look at the prices Loutron / Energy 200k+ Even my Colombian buddy was getting pissed off at mayorista while trying to bring a girl back to the apartment (he doesn't like to bang in the casas) They were asking 100k. I'm doing other areas in Colombia now, taking the bus and getting lost. LOL. I just got back last week and was proud that I could still negotiate 60-80k plus taxi for a good tln.

I used to hit the casas with my Colombian buddies where the girls would ask with amazement "where are you from, how did you find this city called Medellin" NOW they ask if my Colombian buddy is "my guide" LOL

All the places you name I have never been except Mayorista and Parque gringo, and I wouldn't say mayorista is gringoed out. Sandiego, el Centro, and Luna luneras aren't gringoed out either yet. Most gringos are scared of these places and rarely stray far from the mansion. I don't know why your boy got pissed at 100k for takeout, that seems about right to me. When I'm a legend like you maybe I too can get them for 80k. Go Heat.

Have prices really gone up that much in Cartagena? When I was there in 96-97 the very top shelf beautiful strippers from places like American Nights (if I remember the name correctly) wanted $140 or $160 to leave for the night, room included. Of course brothel girls or girls picked up in night clubs were much less.

They have been hooking in Cartagena since the pirates were in the Caribbean. Find a girl hooking there now and odds are her mother hooked there too. Nothing has changed over time there except for what is coming with the new big hotel chains in Bocagrande and then the construction of the boardwalk along the beach. Hell Tony has been pimping at the beach for 25 years you guys think prostitution is new there? It is a family town fuck thats funny!
