I know Elektra only opens after 3am, LDV after midnight, but how about Tu Candela? The normal bars Cafe del Mar and Casa de la cerveza? Also where is the place to go in the early evening, around 8pm? Tu Candela 10 pm to 4 am, Cafe del Mar is good at sunset. 8 pm watch for early street talent or join a chiva rumba party, Isis opens at 9 pm. Also 8 pm may be good if you take a drive to a strip club (je-je)

In my experience, get to ldv around 11 or 1130. You're spot on for Electra but I couldn't tell you about the other places.

I personally recommend Donde R. They have great selection and good prices. And no bullshit. Its a *****house, simple as that. LDV and Isis is OK, too, but you must know your way around. Max. 100t is what I pay.

Having lived in C for about 2 years and speaking Spanish since childhood it is easier, despite my "Gringo" looks.

Just got back from my tenth trip to Cartagena, over the past 10 years; but the last one was about two years ago. Noticed a lot of changes!

I've had a lot of our members such as David and Roger help me along so I thought I'll pass on some of my own:

There are a lot of new Hotels being built now-to be ready in the next couple of years-many 5 star type like the Sheritan and International. New Law where you cannot rent Condo's in the best buildings is now in effect. Can always find some in condo-hotels in Laguito or Palmetto in Boccagrande. The Chicas are asking for mucho dinero at LDV; which I refused to give. Finally found a few more reasonable ones towards closing time. Also after midnight across from Tu Candela. These were my two best spots. Tony at the beach is ripping off tourists like candy. Such a Scumbag. You're better off taking a walk along the beach and picking up. Picked up a couple of gems just walking around Boccagrande in the afternoon. My chicas were sensational; nothing compares to the latins!

This last trip I stayed in a shit hole condo in Laquito although it had a great view and close to LDV I would never stay there again.

I would definitely recommend two other good, chica friendly hotels:

1. The Lee Hotel in the Old City is really good. At less than $100 and about a 3* plus its the best bargain around. Clean and Airy rooms with a small pool and patio on the roof. Its minutes from the downtown Old City core by foot and you walk by the University and Park where many a student are looking to make a few bucks to cover expenses.

2. The Orr Hotel is about 3 months old and is easily a 4 * plus. Its 3 blocks from the beach and a 3 minute cab ride from LDV. Its got a small Pool and Patio and you can bring guests there. Its perfect for partying. Its also got a Hot tub and Breakfast is included all for about $135 p night.

I met the owner Al and he was very helpful and spoke perfect English. I told him he should contact Jackson about advertizing his places (and he also has a 5* place). He said he would and consider giving Members a discount. Until he gets it up, sic. If you bbm me I'll send you his email.

Also, got stopped once for a spot check but no problems; as I don't do drugs and the chica had proper I'd.

i'm not sure a coffee pot or a text to speech application are good sources for the proper english spelling of colombia. if "columbia" is the proper english spelling of "colombia", then the webster's english dictionary has a spelling error.
