I just went back and read posts from around Memorial Day last year. I don't remember how the situation was then. Last few weeks the Montera has just been stupidly full on Friday and Saturday, sometimes just fighting the crowd to get to the restrooms in hard. People, mainly men, standing around. Especially bad when a certain group of truckers hit, they come in droves. The other bars will be just empty, usually a waste of time even to look in them. Hopefully this Memorial weekend won't be to bad, maybe some of the usual truckers will stay home and vacation with the family.

I was talking last night with a beer truck driver, he said he delivers an average 1000 cases of Tecate products to the Montera weekly, sometimes a lot more sometimes less. Along with about 1000 cases of Tecate Light babies, the little ones you pay 10 pesos for, and pay the girls 15 pesos to drink 1/2 of. Yes you pay 25 pesos, she gets a ficha worth 15 pesos for every one you buy. Funny to watch a guy buy a bucket of 6 babies for girls, and then watch the girls pour those little beers right back into the bucket when he ain't looking.

Other than them closing the Montera early one night, things pretty much normal downtown. So far all the banners posted have been just hype. But he feeling I get is that things could go wild anytime. Looking at what has happened in Monterrey, and other places, it is odd that something serious has not happened here.

Been working late hours, sorry about the hiatus. Ended up going to NLBT on both nights the other weekend.

The Montera closed tonight, Thursday, at 9:30pm, they received a threat thought to be credible so they closed. As we left there was an heavy police presence. Many people left, some, but not many, went to other bars. Rumors say it's going to get nasty for a while, we'll just have to wait and see how nasty.

Went down last Saturday with plans to meet Chente (Villareal) at the Montera. As I was walking over to the La Posada Hotel from the USA parking lot, I ran into another friend that has gone down to Montera with me a couple of times on the corner. We both headed over to the Fiesta Hotel and checked in. This was about 2pm. Good thing we checked in early as only 3 rooms were left after we checked in. We headed over a couple of blocks to that patio area on the corner where they have a bar with a couple of good looking young girls serving drinks and giving people samples. We ate lunch at the corner restaurant which was pretty darn good. Anyway, after lunch we headed over to La Montera. It was aroung 3pm. It was pretty slow, unlike the previous Saturday. We had a couple of cervezas and my buddy headed back to the hotel to get some sleep as he had slept in his car the previous night after hitting the NLBT circuit. I was equally tired as I had spent the previous evening in a San Antonio strip club. Anyway, instead of getting some shut I before the evening, I stayed a met a lovely girl from El Salvador. We spent the entire early evening, until 7pm dancing and drinking. If you read my previous posts, she is the girl that slapped me upside the face because I danced with her girlfriend at Bar Unico, of whom I later found out was a guy. We actually ended up having a good time drinking and dancing. At 4:30am, Jimmie the waiter from Danash drove my buddy, Yandel and I back to the Fiesta where I spent the night with Yandel. As I have said before, Yandel is really attractive.

We went and had breakfast the next morning at a restaurant near the bridge call Marlees or something. Great breakfast. On our way there, we saw about 20 soldiers who seemed determine to find someone. They were questioning everyone, checking bags, etc. This was in front of the now closed La Mina. We took a detour so we didn't have to be searched. Bbond, I saw La Rata in Montera and told her she is a piece of shit in Spanish. She walked away and didn't want to have anything to do with me or La Montera. She left shortly thereafter.
