Last night, Sunday, we had a drive by shooting, in front of the Horseshoe-Herradura. Several shots were fired, and a grenade thrown from a fast moving car. Shots didn't hit anyone, grenade didn't explode. Grenade landed on Hidalgo, right in front of Jorrochos, close the curb on the Herradura side of the street. Had it exploded that grenade would have hurt some street vendors, the quesadilla stand is right there. I was in the Montera when it happened, they closed the doors for a few minutes until they were sure trouble was passed. We walked down and bought a couple quesadillias and walked over the the Intimo to eat them. Stayed in the Intimo playing pool with mi novia until 12am, had to walk back to Montera where my car was parked, we were going to stop by the Herradura for one more beer but it was locked down, streets almost deserted. I hope this is not a sign of things to come, but am afraid it may be. As today it is reported that Chapo's people took credit for the the last 14 killed that were found the other day. Posted is a photo of the heads, along with a threatening banner. The banner threatens the mayor, and other officials, of Nuevo Laredo, accuses them of being in with with the other side. Warns him that unless things change he is coming after their heads too. So you now see, it could get real nasty here real soon.

Well I made a Run for the Border Saturday night 5-5-2012. Mickey wanted to celebrate his New Gringo Version of Cinco De Mayo-Cinco De Panocha. Arrived late evening and checked into Hotel Fiesta. Didn't check out any of the El Centro Bars. Walked to the taxi stand at the bridge and had no problem getting a taxi at 10:45 PM. I had to give the taxi driver directions to La Zona / NLBT, he was a new taxi driver. Had the the taxi driver drop me off in front of Safari. Sonya-the 15 year veteran of Papagayo's was standing out in front of Safari. From a distance, standing by the taxi, I told Sonya-hola Sonya-como esta? Sonya recognized me, walked up and hugged me. Laura, another ex Papagayo's chica was sitting outside with a dude. Laura said hola & we hugged. Laura introduced the dude she was with & told me that he was her novio. We shook hands & he told me that he liked my Bettie Page shirt. Both Sonya & Laura were giving me shit about my goatee.

Sonya & I went inside & I bought us some drinks. Sonya told me that ex Papagayo Monterrey chica Lilianna / Lili also worked at Safari. When Lilianna walked into the bar, we called her over. The story I read in English says 23, I thought the 14 referred to the 14 found last week, but no, the 14 mentioned were found same day as the 9, in a different location than the other 14. The first 14 were found in a van on Maclovo Herrera, the latest 14 outside a customs agency.

It's been an absolutely horrifying day across our border as nine bodies are found in Nuevo Laredo hanging from a bridge. That's not including 14 others who were left decapitated inside a vehicle, hours later. The bodies of nine people believed responsible for a car bomb attack at the main police station in Nuevo Laredo were found hanging from a bridge. Hung from that bridge was a huge banner with a warning on it, addressed to quote: "Those who are trying to take over our town.” It's believed that message was from the Zetas. Five of the victims were men. The other four women. They all had signs of torture with their hands tied behind their backs. A couple of hours later 14 decapitated bodies were found inside a vehicle close to the brokers association in Nuevo Laredo. Late this afternoon, the heads of those people, were left close to the city hall.

Fridays and Saturdays are normally just stupid full nights for the Montera. Last night, the 4th, was the slowest Friday night I have seen in quite a while. No matter here, two girls from my list were over today, one afternoon, one late night, (took her home at 3am, she wants to come back for an all day fucky-sucky Sunday). From that same list, the horniest one promises to come by at 10am Monday, she was out tonight with her boyfriend, but still managed to let me know that she wants to come here Monday. I asked her to set me up with another damn cute girl that she knows, b*tch laughed at me, told me no fucking way,"you're mine". I just went back and read posts from around Memorial Day last year. I don't remember how the situation was then. Last few weeks the Montera has just been stupidly full on Friday and Saturday, sometimes just fighting the crowd to get to the restrooms in hard. People, mainly men, standing around. Especially bad when a certain group of truckers hit, they come in droves. The other bars will be just empty, usually a waste of time even to look in them. Hopefully this Memorial weekend won't be to bad, maybe some of the usual truckers will stay home and vacation with the family.

I was talking last night with a beer truck driver, he said he delivers an average 1000 cases of Tecate products to the Montera weekly, sometimes a lot more sometimes less. Along with about 1000 cases of Tecate Light babies, the little ones you pay 10 pesos for, and pay the girls 15 pesos to drink 1/2 of. Yes you pay 25 pesos, she gets a ficha worth 15 pesos for every one you buy. Funny to watch a guy buy a bucket of 6 babies for girls, and then watch the girls pour those little beers right back into the bucket when he ain't looking.

Ok, let's run the numbers on this. I'm just assuming the costs. 1000 cases of Tecate with 24 in a case = 24000 beers. Let's say they make a quarter on every beer they sell. 24000 x. 25 = $6000 a week. Now the little bottles, let's assume they make. 15 on each one. 24000 x. 15 = $3600 a week. That's in the range of $9600 per week. Assuming freebies and breakage let's take it down to $8000 per week. I know this next number is high but say they have wages, electricity, tv, repairs, cleaning supplies (LOL) which equal $3000 a week. That leaves $5000 a week. Let's say they pay the Narco's $1000 a week to be left alone. That leaves $4000 a week x 52 weeks = $208, 000 a year. That is a respectable amount for a business to run in any country.

Bbond, are there any vacant buildings in the area?

Those numbers are a bit low, they sell the bigger beers for 15 pesos each at night. 12 daytime, selling much more at night than daytime, they probably cost wholesale about 5 or 6 pesos, the babies sell for 10, cost about 4-5 pesos. I used to buy cases of Victoria and Corona for 160 pesos, about 6. 67 pesos per bottle, I am certain they get better wholesale prices. Also that is just Tecate brand products, may be the biggest sellers, but they also sell the other line too, which a lot of people, myself included, drink.

Beers that I know are sold in the Montera, may be more than these, I don't pay that close attention.

I am sure there are vacant buildings, I just don't pay attention enough to say how many or where you would find one. There are a few vacant store fronts too.

Went down to La Montera with my buddy from San Antonio last Saturday night. Got to Montera at 7pm and the place was pretty crowded. I ran into Chente (Villareal) who was drunker than a skunk. Bbond, you may have seen him. He was pretending he was a baseball player swinging and hitting home runs. Anyway, I ran into a chica I met a few weeks earlier. She was wearing a leopard skin dress and she looked hotter than hell. We danced quite a few times. At the opposite end of the bar, I caught another chica I had met a few weeks ago staring us down. She is a tall, fairly attractive girl from El Salvador. Has only been working in Montera for a couple of weeks now. The girl I was with in the leopard pattern dress all of a sudden told me she sat her purse down for two seconds and someone stole it. Man, I really felt bad for her. All of her money, cellphone, etc. Were lost. By that time, I noticed that my El Salvadoran friend left. That's too bad. I wish I had time to spend with her. If any of you on this board run into her, can you ask her to call Riki? She has my number.

We headed down to NLBT and Danash was our first stop. There were maybe 6 girls in the place. The two that sat with my friend and I, and mine in particular, were a couple of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. I bought mine about 5 drinks total (at $10 a drink which is pretty damn expensive). She danced for me for about 2 hours, at which point my friend and I got tired of forking over the $10 drinks and we left. I still can't figure out why these bar owners don't understand that their drink prices are driving everyone away and that they should adapt the Montera model. You are absolutely right about Yandel and the puta agenda, which is to abscond with dinero (El Rey). Maybe someday I'll learn this. I have only had one genuine relationship with a working girl.
