In DIA and Thaifriendly many girls are street girls or bar girls. I know one who I first met on the street and then a few months later she had ended up working in a gogo bar. A proper response is to cancel the session as soon as possible and give her a token cancellation fee. 100-200 baht if you got to the room but didn't have sex, or maybe 300-500 if she gave you a *brief* BJ without finish. The token fee is not because she deserved it, but to close the transaction in her mind and prevent future trouble for non-payment.

Asking the mamasan for your barfine back is not worth the aggravation of trying. As you know, a Thai would never give you back money you paid. Moreover, even if the mamasan somehow had the good will to give you the barfine back, girl's performance is something she can't change, and she doesn't want to aggravate an employee bringing in good money in drinks and barfines (good looking girls are scarce these days in the industry, unlike in the past).
