Posts: 4No wonder I couldn't find the place when I was in Dubai in July.
I used to work with a Mali Monroe back in 82-84 but last time I saw him was in Dubai around 1988, him and his father-in-law had there own bar in them days.
I used to hang out at the Red Lion but the nightclub was not called Rattlesnake back then, can't remember the name now though.

Picture taken a few days ago from the Metro. Apologies for the fuzziness. It was in the midst of one of the sandstorms.

Would love to find a good AMP in the JBR area, though have not used very many as yet I admit.

It is a salient question, where did the RS girls go?

RS was my first port of call upon arriving into DXB from a 'dry' neighbour. Many fond memories.
Is there a replacement nearby?

Posts: 67Such a pity. It's a place with history and I had many a fun night there, not just mongering either.

Posts: 1192OK, it seems I will have to swallow my words. This had to be the first piece of public works in Dubai that did not get delayed.
Oh well.

So I'd just keep in mind my there collected memories.
The best thing certainly is, that mostly all of the WG's will appear at other venues.

Dubai: It's not bricks and mortar that make a place — it's the people who give it true character.
Dubai's Metropolitan Hotel has been a landmark on Shaikh Zayed Road for decades, a home away from home for many expatriates who lived in the vicinity.
As the hotel is reduced to rubble next week so are the establishments which have been favourite hangouts for hundreds of people in the emirate, shattering the hearts of staff and patrons alike.
While Indian restaurant Shahjahan is being moved to the Habtoor Grand Hotel on Jumeirah Beach, all the other popular joints at the Metropolitan will bite the dust next Thursday.
The Red Lion, arguably the most popular of them all, opened even before the hotel itself and soon became a favourite place to socialise.
Mali Munroe recalls attending the opening night.
"I first went there when the place opened on December 3, 1978 and I have been visiting it since then," Munroe said.
"Back then, it was the only place in the vicinity where we could socialise after a hard day's work.
'Great memories'
"I have some great memories of the place and I will definitely miss it."
Italian restaurant Don Corleone was an eatery no-one went to once.
"It's as if they are pulled by a magnet," said Valentine Fernandes, the manager of the eatery, who says he won't be able to watch the place go down.
"I'm going back to my native Goa, I cannot work anywhere else after serving at Don Corleone for so long.
"I have built a house in Goa and named it Don Corleone Villa.
"I'm planning to spend the rest of my life there with my family."
The 56-year-old said the place is etched in his memory and will live with him forever.

Posts: 1192Man you have been away for too long!
When was last time anything was done on time in DXB? Look at the Marina tram, still going and still a long way to go.
So while I agree you should visit Snake (business is really low accordign to some girls there) I am doubtful the place will close by March 15th as it has been announced.
But who knows. Maybe this is the first thing that does not get delayed.
