Taxi to Caribe Tours = about $25.
Caribe Tours, STI to POP (downtown) = about $3 US.
Taxi from POP Caribe Tour station to BB, = about $25 US.
This may be rehashing, but if you arrive late in STI, you'd be better off getting a room for the night.
For cheap digs, suggest you look up "AirBNB" on the web. Cheap rooms in private apartments / residences.
Should be able to find overnight accomodations for about $35 US.
Then in the morning, look at options 2 through 4 above.

Compared to that, prostitution offers much better money, but with its own costs.
Most mongers there are not Brad Pitt, or Denzel Washington, and some get off on treating a chica like a "worthless ho,"
So I don't begrudge a girl for earning more than a laborer or office worker; she earns the money she makes.
(Imagine your enthusiasm for giving oral sex to an ugly, fat, old, or drunk, obnoxious woman).
Its a rare chica that doesn't spend the money as fast as she earns it. If not on herself, on her kids, etc.
Most choose to live well in the present, as they seem incapable of planning far into the future. And really can't count on tomorrow.
The girls appreciate it when a guy treats them well (meaning with a little consideration or respect). It makes the work much easier, and they dread, and try to avoid, the abusive types if possible.
The absolute best thing that can happen to a chica is if a guy offers them a way off the island; its like winning the lottery.
A chance to live in a functional society, a job that pays a decent living, etc.
There is very little to look forward to in the DR, unless one comes from a wealthy family.
Some marry just for the papers, (who could blame them?) but I can't label them all the same. I believe some actually have feelings for a guy who treats them well.
Would avoid going that route until after one really gets to know the girl really well. And you can't do that with pointy-talky Spanish.Last edited by Admin; 01-06-13 at 14:52.

Couldn't agree more, learning some Spanish helps very much with quality of your experience.
As for the guys treating girls badly, I think that social stigma associated with profession is the main reason. Those treating girls like shit don't know what they are loosing.

However, I can understand the choice chicas make. Life in poverty is not the best alternative. If chica can find a husband in the States, I suppose she is really smart.

I'm thinking about learning some Dominican dances while staying at BB.
Any ideas where to find a teacher in Costambar or maybe use some chica as a teacher?

Posts: 220Getting a new start in the USA!
I was pleased to learn that D* married and moved to the USA. I saw some of her photos and outside of dealing with the cold on NY she seems to be adjusting. I know at least 6 women (all from BB's) that are living the USA now with a mixed bag of results but most are positive.
When I first started to go the DR it all about the numbers for me. How many girls. Once in a while I made a bit more of a connection. I was generous to a fault with all of then. As my Spanish abilities grew I was able to get to know the girls on a different level which made my experiences better. I also understood that many (not all) believed that the lifestyle was affording their children / family a better life. I am sure we know what the job prospects are for an uneducated women from the DR are. Several women I know that have degrees from a University and can not find work. As discussed in earlier posts the education system in the DR is broken and the Private Schools (where most of the girls pay to send their children) are not much better.
I hope we here of more success stories like D* as she is a wonderful person.

One of the reasons I learned Spanish was to make my time and their time a little more enjoyabe. I am not sure how much of a difference it makes. I think it is a little scarry sleeping with a total stanger for the ladies. They provide us a with a great deal of pleasure. I have never understoodd the guys who treat them like shit. No doubt there are some hard core chica and I understand that as well. I have made friends with some of the putas I have been with and like them as people.

Posts: 170What's a lady to do
Dominican h00kers marrying foreigners is very very common, I personally know several. As a matter of fact a long time friend and well known former Blackbeards girl named D**ca just moved to New York two months ago and got married, I couldn't be more happy for her and her children.[/QUOTE]With unemployment around 45% and 4 out of 5 women out of work, no social back up system for these women with children, what's a chica to do to feed her kids? After living here for 4 years, I have met few bad pineapples. You got to respect these women for having the courage to do what they do. As someone wrote about a BB chica, she told him that everytime she turns a trick, she loses a piece of her heart.
