There are so-called freebies everywhere. Sales assistants, waittreses etc etc. Just sit at an outdoor coffee shop on Dong Khoi in the morning and smile and say good morning to every pretty one that walks past. If you get a response (even a smile) follow up. Some of them are a bit shy because their english is not so good.

Two things. 1) There is no such thing as an 'upmarket' club in Vietnam. Vietnam has nothing upmarket, hi-class or classy or whatever terms anyone uses. There are some places that are much more expensive than others though.

2) Your definition of a freelancer above is correct, but do you think any of the girls you meet or see in a place like AN are really freelancers according to that definition? FYI, they are not, although they do want it to appear that way. It's just part of the illusion. Any real freelancer would go at a much lower rate. 1. I'd disagree here. Whether you (or I) think the places are upmarket is beside the point. I don't think upmarket and classy are synonyms. I'm talking purely in Vietnamese market terms there is a top end of the market which appeals to those with more disposable cash. There might be nothing classy by your standards but that's not to say that Chill or Sin Lounge wouldn't be classy by other standards and they are definitely at the top the market. Semantics perhaps.

2. I honestly didn't know that. I'd naively assumed that these girls were not controlled.

I mentioned club freelancers in my report over a week ago. I also mentioned that I was not interested in paying 2 million dong for them! Make no mistake though, the girls in Apocalypse Now were hands down the best looking women that I saw on my entire 10-day trip to 4 cities in Vietnam. I tried taking pictures with the spy cam on my cell phone but it was entirely too dark in the club so they didn't turn out well.

P. S. If you look in the HCMC Bars and Clubs thread then you may see reports on picking up freelancers at clubs!

Ok I remember you talking about getting quoted 2 million dong, did you try to negotiate? How late was this? And did you try many girls or just the one?

Why don't people talk much about Freelancers? Everyone knows the bar you go to find them in and they are mentioned on here. 50% of the girls in Apocalpyse Now or Go2 at 3am will be p4p.

No everyone doesn't, someone who has never been to vietnam (like me) will have no clue which clubs are the best for finding freelancers, which is why I asked.

Most other upmarket clubs have a smattering of them that are harder find. Lots more semi-pro's in no sex service industry but requires time / language skills to develop.

A word of advice. A freebie is never really a freebie. Help with school fees, medical expenses etc etc. Damn I even bought one a washing machine!

A freebie is a freebie for guys like me who know how to say no. One of my freebies wrote to me yesterday saying that her friend's daughter is very sick and does not have money to buy medicine. She said it is expensive and the hospital doesn't want to help because they already owe too much. She asked if I could send something because it is an emergency. She said if I can help then god will bless me.

The first thing I thought about was what the fuck does that have to do with me? Daughter of a friend? What are you talking about eddie? For one I never mentioned my friend speaks vietnamese because he doesn't, two he has only lived there for a few months and has said he has seen freelancers out at clubs every night.

Maybe you arent familiar with the term freelancer but it certainly has nothing to do with freebies.

Oh, but in your post you had said it was 1:30am. That would actually be a plausible hour at which they might be able to show you real HBT girls. Most of those bars seem to close at around 1am these days, so it's right after that when you see them all on their way home, going to get their motorbikes or else congregating together somewhere before heading home. But I doubt there's any bars closing as early as 12 these days. I can't believe the bars are going to let these motorbike guys come in (at midnight or so) and grab girls to go show some tourist. Why would they. The girl is their property, she's what helps the bar make money. And the motorbike guy surely isn't going to pay a bar fine for her just on the chance that the tourist will say yes.

Possible, I suppose. But hey they are touts. Touts lie. I'll be honest, I'm not totally sure this is BS. But if I was going to place a bet, that's what I'd put money on.

I have had gals from Smiley and other bars come to me before and after work. One even came for a quickie when sh was doing the dinner run for the others!
