Am still only getting $R500 with my US issued ATM card at Banco do Brasil. Called my bank in the US, I have a $2000USD daily limit. An expat here told me HSBC now has a $R300 daily limit for foreign ATM cards. It looks like Citibank may be the only one to still give $R1000 / day to foreign ATM cards.

Can we get all of the ATM limits posted? Someone told me all ATMs are r300. Please help

I got many PM's asking about the convention. Well, the same convention is happening in Rio right now. Tomorrow is the last day. The convention is Expofood at Rio Centro, in Recreio.

I don't know for sure about the ticket price as I sneaked in for free by the backdoor with the help of some friends, but I guess the tickets cost R$100.

They have a couple of hundred stands. Free beer, drinks and food. Best of all, there are propably over a thousand hostesses. All of them dressed in sexy outfits. Miniskirts, tiny dresses and tights (with nice camel toes). Many of the girls are just absolutely breathtaking! I can guarantee that you'll not find a concentration of that many beautiful girls anywhere in Brazil.

I can't say anything about the chances of picking up any of the girls. Propably not that easy. However some of the girls are "ficha rosa", luxury prostitutes, they might be available.

But here's how I do it. If I see a pic of a girl I want I google her phone number, even google it with "gpguia" at the end. Usually information and "TD (test drive) reviews show up on google from sites like gpguia or ForumSD and I'll be able (with google translation) to determine if she's good to all her clients, a hit or miss provider, or a scam artist. You're looking for information that tells you she's true to her pictures, gives good service, and has a good attitude. Obviously even some legit independents have fantastic photo shoots but end up with very poor reviews. My goal is to find girls who are attractive to me and have good great reviews then just speak enough portuguese to get them to my apartment.

Yea, since I wrote my message I have ended up in these other sites. I google their name plus number sometimes followed by TD. For most I can get TDs from Hotside. Com. Br and maybe gpguia but only if I hiding my IP address. Some girls list their email address so you can google translate your way into scheduling a session via email.

What about guys who are staying illegal for 3-5 years or more, an english guy told me that he stayed 1 year without extending a visa, and payed $R300 when he returned back again, not on his way out. Some people can't get a visa for 3 months, others can overstay and stay illegal for years without any problem.

That might have been back before they had the computer systems at the airport. Back in the 90s and early 2000s, you could stay in Rio for years and immigration wouldn't even know it unless they searched each and every page in your passport and found yoru entrance stamp. Now with a computer system in place, they know exactly when you arrive.

The maximum amount has been like R$800 or so. It is not a great idea to just keep overstaying and paying the fine. They don't have an issue when you overstay for 1 or even 2 times, but when you do it a third time they start to put restrictions on you when you can return, ie, can't return for 6 months. I guess if you keep pushing your luck they may get even tougher. Always a good idea to go through the hassle of extending the visa rather than just paying the fine.

Ole news, Bravo: GPguia access blocked if you're not in Brazil. Change your proxy settings to fool the server into thinking you're in Brazil. (Google proxy settings / servers, for more info)

If you speak good Portuguese you might do well but I would go for the legit sites with independents like moranguin or acomphantesrj. The difficulty you'll have with independents is that unless you speak enough Portuguese there's still a basic communication problem, ie getting the girl to your apartment. But, if you've done your homework (reviews) and reach a girl you know you want then all you need to talk about is time / place and address. That's fairly simple.

Another thing you'll find out searching by phone number is if on different escort sites the pictures match up consistently. A lot of "scam" ads or agencies use pics of different girls on other sites they are trying to solicit calls. But the vast majority of girls from the sites I linked are independents trying to make an "honest" living. You'll notice a lot of the same girls on the different sites. That's usually a sign she's legit.

It really is a lot of fun to have escorts over to your place. If you've done some homework and have a group of girls you like with good reviews that tell you they also have great attitudes you won't likely be disappointed. Do your research before you go that way you're just trying to reach them by phone and set an appt as opposed to wasting time in your apartment researching. You def don't want to be sitting in Rio finding good reviews one at a time and calling them one at a time- you'll waste an afternoon. Research in advance until you have a stable of good girls saved, arrive Rio, then call them by your order of preference and have at it.

Last week I spoke with a goodlooking mulatta at Rua do Conceição 116. It was her first day working there. Now she's selling her ass for R$40. Before that she worked at Balcony. Went to the PF at the Galeao today to extend my stay longer than 90 days. The whole process took less than 1 hour. In addition to showing my return flight out of Brazil, I also had to print out some bank statements to show that I had enough money to be here over the extended period. FYI, I have a Canadian passport.

Lucky you, canadians are not affected by the new rules.
