My first time in CP and staying at the Walter Hotel. My preference is to stay slightly lower scale and then get a suite. Seems to work for me and I think it is the more relaxed way to go. Anyway went to a KTV with BSD, (forget which one) , picked two girls, one spoke a little English, (claimed to be a college girl) and one didn't. The one that didn't said she hadn't worked for two months, so that's the one I took for LT in the hopes that she might need a good stiffy after a two month drought. In that part I was not wrong-DFK, soaking wet, and horny as hell. Bed to floor to one leg up on the dresser (standing Doggie) , and more I really can't remember, including CG, RCG, and others. However, that's the normal story, not when it got funny!

Come morning and going to pay her. Now as I should have done, put all my goodies, including $$$ in the room safe. Showered, next round, and went to open the safe. It would not open and couldn't pay as the money is in the safe. After messing around with it for a time, called the desk. Up comes the security guard and bellboy. They try to open the locked safe with their master key. No success. Called a maintenance man, more keys, more tools! Hotel manager, desk staff, maintenance men (2) and a couple others, now out in the hallway in front of my room working on the safe, was at least 6 people in the hallway! I am in a bathrobe and she has now managed to get dressed, this is about 9 am. I can't leave them to go get dressed as a good amount of money, passport, camera, phone, and other goodies are in the safe. Finally the "get a bigger hammer" approach is necessary. Bang, bang, bang, bang, with other people coming out of their rooms to see the problem. They all know, why I need the money, as it was no secret that the $$$ are to pay the girl, and they are trying to help her get paid. Finally, after destroying the safe they got it open and girl gets paid, I get a new safe, and everyone goes back to work!

Strange morning in CP! This has to be something unique. Moral of the story! Put your goodies in the room safe, BUT be sure you can get it open! Mrclen

I remember on my first visit, on arrival by coach from Shenzhen, I could have walked for 5-10 minutes to the Swan Lake (Tian Er Hu) area, but a cab took me on a 30-40 RMB ride there. I had never been there and only discovered it later. I thought I was being clever by asking him to use the meter, but it gave him excuse for this massive trip around...

It all depends if you look like a newbie or is raining they ask for 15 rmb, most taxi don't use meter in CP anyway most ask for 10 rmb for short trip and most will paid that, if you want to nickel and dime for just a few RMB you can walk or take the bus.

Now to get from say Swan Lake area to Hui Mei it should cost no more than 6-7RMB by meter, agreed?

But 100% of the time, you will be asked for 10RMB, right?

It is possible to get the trips for 6RMB, but up to 50% of the time, the taxi will just drive off in my experience.

How do others treat the taxi services? I know it is small money indeed, but those 4 RMB over 100 taxi journeys are a 100min massage in Swan Lake with a 400.

Do you always pay the 10RMB standard non-metered fare, or tell them it should be 6RMB.

i have been mongering in southern china for 15 years. in particular, i am familiar with tangxia and surrounds, not so much in cp. bbs action has doubled or less (but hard to source now) : 200 is now the norm after being stuck at 150 for years. sauna has not really gone up much; total costs have risen from around 500 to maybe 600-700. rooms that used to be at 200-400 are now 20 to 100. there is fierce competition and the service is better. cim is now standard service in tangxia. i suspect the age of girls maybe 1-2 years older. overnight from ktv gone up from 800 to around 1200. i suspect some of what you guys are seeing is the appreciation of the rmb. there has been a dramatic rise in costs for "wraping" a girl. now, it is cheaper to keep a wife in hk!

I like Liar's dice, but I'm pretty good at it. My favorite is teaming with my girl and playing against another team. It's a great way to bond with your girl and Hi-Five, Jia You, etc. I encourage others to use this method to build a rapport and chemistry to be well-rewarded later in the evening.

While I, and I am sure others, appreciate the rules of Liars Dice, I still don't get it. What's the point? A small sip of a weak drink or similar doesn't do it for me. This seems even lamer than the spin-the bottle we used to play in junior and high school. This is supposed to be, at least somewhat, adult entertainment. Yes we can negotiate to bring the girl or girls back to our hotel, but that's a given. In my limited experience, there should be some sort of rules, set in place in the start of the evening, that get some clothes off, some groping, some kissing, heavier drinking, or other "real" penalties, etc, that make the game worthwhile. Yeah, I remember the Village near WuZhong Lu. Those were good days. I'm just glad I could enjoy them as well as CP in it's heyday. It's pretty much over now, only skilled mongers with good language skills have a good chance to get the bargains. 150 is still around, but it a little dangerous. Those girls are pros and managed by thugs. I was recently confronted and given the Good Thug / Bad Thug treatment. They tried to get 20, 000 out of me. I called their bluff, and they backed off. I think they have it down to a science now to extort money from tourists who are embarrassed or afraid to call the police. My advice is don't be afraid to call the Hotel security if you get in trouble. Never let them call the Mami, Tour Guide, Manager, Intermediary, etc. They will only be concerned with getting the problem over with and continue their business. Never forget that they are conducting illegal business as well, and the Police will not want to deal with it and look for a quick solution.

Fully agree with your assessment FE. Fact is, CP is no longer a value for money mongering destination, and I think it shows in the numbers of mongers visiting. Even the CP forum, scroll back a year or two and check the rampant postings going on compared to today. Chalk and cheese.

When I was in CP recently, the line ups were still huge, but punters were outnumbered at least 10 to 1. I think a lot of guys will start taking 1 instead of 2 girls and also cutting 1 or 2 nights off their trips. That's what I plan to do. And I am sure the hong kongnese, taiwanese and singaporeans will be thinking similar thoughts. Japanese and Koreans, perhaps won't mind as much since the price of pussy where they are from is probably still at least double..

I am a business traveller I don't just go to China for Mongering been going to China for over 15 yr on business from the US 3-4 time a yr, I have see price on everything go up every yr and mongering quality go down hill every yr also because of crack down, even the third world country like Cambodia, PI and Burma price has gone up live with it or retire from mongering.

If you have time travel to small city and found action but it is not that easy you need to talk to local to find action, it is too danger to do that if you don't know the area or know any friend there, your life is not worth saving a few RMB right.
