What's wrong with tipping 20 baht? If I get an hour massage for 100 baht and tip 20 baht that is 20%. And if I get one of those happy hour beers for 55 baht then 20 baht tip is 36%.

What I tip and you tip does not matter a damn. Because nearly 100 percent of punters have never heard of ISG and will tip what they think right.

The only tip I give working girls is the purple one my jizz blasts out of. I give deductions. Waiters I give about 10 baht per 130 I spend and the subway technicians get 6 of my baht because I live there and not trying to eat a bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pubic hair sandwiches. This is rich, how does a big tipper ruin your fun? If he tips and you are against tipping then just don't tip. Also not sure how you know if "no one" expects you to tip since you have not spoken to everyone. Tipping is always one of the never ending topics on the BKK thread with many lectures like this one. After all is said, nothing will change, people will do what they want to do with their money as they should and you should do what you want with yours.

If you tip it looks like you don't think they're charging enough for the food. Mid-range restaurant? 15 to 20 baht per diner would be OK. Cabs? The locals usually round up to the nearest 10 baht, maybe an extra 10 baht thrown in.

Could you please stop tipping?

Tipping is only customary in the US anywhere else the price include the tips.

If you have money to spend just spend it the regular way stop ruining the fun for others.

Not only tipping doesn't get you anywhere but it makes you look quite stupid and give the general impression that all foreigners fart money and are giving it away as they walk.

Remember, Thai people are only in it for the money, it's business, they couldn't care less about you being happy after the act / taxi trip / hotel stay etc.

Most countries have some sort of tipping etiquette, but Americans take it far to the extreme.

I read the Conde Nast guide you mentioned. I've not been to all the countries, but I looked at a couple and it seems rather high. $1 per diner in Cambodia? Thai wait staff accept dollars? Really? $3 tip to the masseuse? $20 per person to a tour guide? You have to be kidding.

If you're going to tip, learn to do is as a local, not as some uber-wealty Conde Nast dickwad. I'm not calling you a dickwad. I used to get CN Traveler mag (as a gift) but cancelled it due to their insufferable "I'm rich and you're not" attitude.

You tip bartenders, servers, staff etc because they are providing you a service with a low base wage, not how well they sucked your dick. I'm from the USA, I tip at home but when I'm in the Fkk clubs of Germany I do what the German's do, I only pay the girl for her time and the services she rendered. If I like her and the service, I repeat with her. And the service is better because she knows I like her. And her co-workers can see that I'm picking her again over the other choices, making them envious which in term gives me better service. All without tipping. I'm not saying tipping is wrong, there's just other ways to go about getting better service.

Better service next time? How can you confirm that seeing that if you tipped you would not know how the service would have been next time had you not tipped. Tell me when money is NOT appreciated by anyone. Of course they remember you. Every con man remembers his biggest suckers in hopes that the money train has not dried up. If you want to know how things work, then watching and asking locals is your best bet, not google.
