1. Volcanoes, famous one is Arenal. Roughly 3 hour ride from San Jose. Do not miss dipping into Sulphur volcanic water pools there. There are other minor volcanoes half hour ride from San Jose.
2. There are tours every day from san Jose to see rain forest, plantations, wild life etc.
3. Jaco is on pacific coast. Not much of a beach but many surfers go there. Manuel Antonio is good national park. There are tours for fishing, scuba diving etc. Jaco is essentially a puta town.
No point in taking tours from there to the volcanoes because it is far or same distance from san jose. Many girls (well dressed I might add) hang around bars and the casino there. Some are real GFE and cost approx $75-$100 All these girls essentially asleep during daytime but very few are out and about doing their chores.
I usually rent a car and likewise have the freedom to go anywhere. Many a time I have taken GFE girls on sightseeing.

Fair enough. I definitely would agree that Europe is more expensive on average in terms of hotels and traveling there, especially in Germany. Although I have never been there, I'd imagine German hotel prices are at least the equivalent of about 100 a night, although that is close to Cocal. But then again you can stay in lower quality hotels in Europe too. Hell, you can even stay in a hostel and then do all "outcall style" mongering.
I definitely agree that it also depends on where you are coming from. Especially if you are in Miami or Houston with a cheap direct flight. For example, If you are a European monger, it makes no sense to come to Costa Rica, although it would make sense to go from Europe to, say, Haiti or Dominican Republic like a lot of Germans and Italians do. Come to think of it I didn't see any Germans in Costa Rica. But maybe that's because they all like black girls haha.
However, if you have to make a connection to get to San Jose and then bus over to Jaco, you could be looking at 8-10 hours of travel. That was actually my situation. Your looking at about an 8-10 hour flight to most major European cities and flights are usually direct and frequent.
All in all, CR can be done on a budget Europe also has the advantage of tons of cities and diverse mongering opportunities. You can go from Germany to Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania. The Europeans are lucky even though there continent is falling apart. Who knows, the collapse of the Euro could make a monger's dream come true.
I'd actually like to check out Barcelona to compare it to Jaco. From NY to Spain is 8 hours. New York to SJ 4. 5 + 1.5 to Jaco.

I believe I have to somewhat respectfully disagree with Onibmab. I really can't see how Europe is cheaper. Airfare from Chicago to SJO is $384. From Houston $554 from Miami around $300, L. A. About $550. What is the price of airfare are. T. Form the USA to Copenhagen? How long does it take you to get there? Jet lag is involved. Costa Rica is on mountain time therefore there is never jet-lag and you can get here in 2.5 hours from Miami. Expensive? Naw, don't think so. It is if you live here but not for vacationers. You can still get a good Jaco hotel for $45 a night. Same in San Jose. Cocal for $90 a night and the All inclusive Amistad deal in San Jose, all you can eat, all you can drink, with your room for only $79 a night. Try getting that in Europe. And the Chicas, man. So many by the pool in Jaco. Del rey and the Soprtsmen still has a 5-1 ratio. I agree about the beach in Jaco. Not a shithole as you labeled it, but it is a lot cleaner than years ago. Not may favorite beach. If I wanted to go to the beach for the day, it would be Manuel Antonio. But let's face it fellows, most of you don't come here for the swimming. As I always say, your mileage will very. If Jaco and San Jose was a shithole, then why do I get so many repeat customers. Guess they have not found out about the Paris, London and Munich mongering. Have fun on your next trip fellows.

This webcam is from Playa Hermosa. 10 minutes min south of Jaco. Of course only good 6 to 6:30, sunrise to sunset. You'll be able to monitor the weather and see for yourself what the weather is like. I looked at it at 0840 CR time today and it was mostly cloudy with no sun. But not raining, guys surfing.
It's going to rain Sept thru early December sometime during the day, a. M or p. M, or maybe all day, or maybe off and on all day, and often all evening into the night. Sometimes hard, sometimes very very hard. When it is not raining, periods of sun but usually partly to mostly cloudy all day, sun in and out. 5 minutes. 20 minutes. The rare days when it is full sun for long periods are few.
When I am in Jaco in the green season, I'll set on my deck when it is pouring and admire it, never saw rain like that where I am from.
Still a lot of fun to be had but don't count on getting tan and keep a loose schedule for getting things done.

I enjoyed my time there and thought the women were gorgeous but I wouldn't go unless I had a really big budget and didn't care.

Posts: 1San jose to Jaco to Manuel Antonio
I arrive tomorrow at noon in San Jose, can someone please advise me on the best itenerary to set? I leave Monday at noon from San Jose. I was thinking, catch a shuttle to Jaco tomorrow, (8/8). Spend a night in Jaco. Friday (8/9) catch a shuttle to Manuel Antonio, check out the national park, and then enjoy some afternoon exploring around the beach. Saturday or Sunday make my way back to San Jose. I hear San Jose is bad for having a good time and they have the gold museum. My goal is do the beach, the women, the rain / cloud forrest, party, and see the museum.
Please advise.

Posts: 263Cocal in Jaco is still jumping
I had the pleasure of taking one of our ISG brothers to Jaco and to the Cocal hotel & Casino today and what a great trip. I usually have 3-4 trips per week to Jaco but I really have not been there for the night action. Again, the Cocal did not disappoint. A few girls were there when we arrived at 4:30 so we opted to get something to eat. We headed over to Los Amigos for an early dinner and I had to try the 1/2 lb. All american beef hamburger. Nice burger. Anyways we ate, walked around Jaco and went to to one of my favorite pubs, the Patio and had a couple of beverages. At about 7 pm we headed back to the Cocal. Just as always, the parade of women started to flow in. One right after another. So many gorgeous women. Wow! When we I left at about 8:30, I counted about 50 quality women and probably 15 guys. There we local C. R. Women, Colombian, Nicaraguan, Dominican and Panamanian women there as well. A lot more beautiful women per square foot than you will find at the Del Rey in San Jose. No telling how many was there at it's peak last night at 10 or 11 pm. To me, this is the absolute best time of year to come to Costa Rica. Less tourist, more women to men ratio mean you have the upper hand with negotiations. Come on down, you will be glad you did. I see United is running a special from Houston to San Jose this weekend for $501. 92 are. T.
