Surprised to hear that Red Square is now a full on pick-up joint. The last time I was there, admittedly a few years ago, it was a legit upmarket club with quite high-maintenance Jakarta ladies out having a good time but on their own dime. Sounds to me like it's just another BATS or CJ's now, with absurd prices to match. Am I right?

Think there were a couple of legit girls there but they seemed to be few and far in between and seemed to be with their own group of boys and girls. The girl I talked to also seemed to be an amateur rather than a full-blown professional. Have to make another trip there sometime and find out the real truth and not let one episode cloud the issue.

That Friday at least, it was a place I would rather not be in.

There may be a few really low end places that offer short-time sex for that price, but I'm talking really, really low-end places that you should not think of going to.

Yesterday I was at LA Bar in Kota Indah and asked one of the mama-sans whether the bar would be open October 14 and 15 owing to the holiday. She said "of course." However, my hotel just issued a statement that the government has issued a regulation closing its bar and not permitting live music in its lounge on these dates. The hotel statement does not make clear whether this directive was just issued, or has been around for awhile.

In any event, does anyone know whether the Kota Indah places (like LA Bar, Sari Ayu, etc.) will in fact be open the 14th and 15th? I'm not sure the LA Bar's mama-san's information about this is reliable, particularly if the government has since issued the regulations mandating certain closures.

Certainly true. On the other hand, you'll also run into women who specialize in Indians, or Africans, or Japanese, or Chinese. Maybe fewer than who specialize in Bules, but then, the target market is smaller, too. I had a local Chinese friend, we always had good natured arguments about where we were heading for the evening. He was completely allergic to the Blok M clubs, thought the women were ugly and dumpy and looked at him as though he was my driver.
