I was in Istanbul 7 years ago. Ages ago. I have such a good memory of Aksaray. This is my last report from Istanbul (2007) :

I will go back to Istanbul in 2-3 months. What happened to Gold Can, Big Pub, Irmak? They were my havens. What can I do now?

Hi Black. I agree with George. Balance is the far best choice here. Last week I tried the Prenses MP in Osmanbey area. Since I am an old customer sex was included. The price was 200 TL including girl's tip.

For Balance I must tell you that for a local person it's ok. Safe enough but for a foreign and especially if you are blonde and white, looks like very foreign, it's not totally safe. I think The City Hotel is safe even for foreing people. The hotel turned down to a cheap touristic hotel after all police pressure. The price for the hotel is 150 TL. Tip the guy coming to your room with 5 or 10 TL. In weekends they will ask you to leave the room in two hours. In weekdays you can stay there till morning. Breakfast is passable.

For Irmak, Gold Can and Big Pub i dont think so worth to visit.I have never found a better quality in those places compared to Balance.Moreover you can find them closed..

I had been to Aksary several times in the last months despite all warnings. I never felt really unsafe on the streets even they are not clean or well iluminated. Tried Cocktail Nightclub, I think differently spelled (Coktyl?) , which I like on my first visit. The last visits are as unproductive like the ones to Baccardi. The waiter greets you, as you have been together in the army for at least two years. You sit on a table and get overpriced drinks and once you approach a girl the bill is getting higher. Left with 140 TL on the bill and alone.

The best place for me is Balance close to City Hotel or old Seranda. You pay 50 TL entrance fee, are guided to a table and the first drink you order is included. You can sit and watch the people without being herassed and no waiter is bothering you every 5 minutes to buy a new drink. 90% plus are local people.

In the Disco are 20-40 girls mainly from Romania and the Ukraine. The action starts 23. 30. The negotiation are only allowed to be taken place on the dancefloor. You go there and talk to them. It is funny for foreigners like me, but it works. The majority of the girls are definately not models but ok more on the older side. 30 and above.

The price is 300 TL for 2 hours. I took a girl from Ukraine with me to my hotel at Taksim which was no problem. My friend wanted to go to a local hotel recommanded by the girl and had problems, because they wanted to force him to go to a place he don t know. So be a little careful. I think they wanted to get some extra tips from them bringing customers there. In the old times you go to City Hotel, pay 80TL for the room. 10TL tip and everyone happy. As a result I can recommand Balance, but of course not to be compared with similiar places in Eastern Europe or Russia. If you want to put it critical one can say, it is a cheap and not very classy version of Nightflight in Moscow but without a real alternative in Istanbull at least a one I know

Can't really comment on that as it was my only experience there. But if you read the forum it appears that its a trial and error method. Rates are really high and you don't always get what you see.

I think that you must have been referring to the General Houses (Genelev) as RLD. Yes, there is an ID check at the entrance to ensure that only locals with valid ID got in.

What Red Light District are you talking about? There is no such thing in Turkey. Like I have said in an older post, the only way you are going to find any girl is to get online and find one that will come to your hotel. The going rate is 250 Euros and you never get what you saw on the pictures. It's a hit and a miss with the escort life here in Turkey.

The new trend seems to be un-named MPs. I was handed a business card once. And took another one from a car windshield.
